Chapter 106 – "Catch the Falling Star"
The ground was silent.
Smoke drifted in waves through the air as the final cries of battle faded. The teams stood amidst fallen enemies, broken weapons, and ash.
The war on the ground… was over.
The remaining Nazi soldiers dropped their weapons, some kneeling, others frozen in fear. They had lost their leaders—Oliver-X was dead, Eobard had fled, and Supergirl-X…
Her battle still raged.
High above, lightning cracked across the sky as Kara Danvers fought the final remnants of her twisted mirror—Supergirl-X.
Blow after blow echoed like thunderclaps in the atmosphere. They flew in vicious spirals, trading punches, beams of heat, and desperate yells.
But Supergirl-X… was faltering.
Her punches slowed.
Her breathing labored.
And then—she bled.
Glowing, golden-red light seeped from her body. Her eyes widened in shock. She looked down at her hands as they trembled, flickering like a dying sun.
And then—she closed her eyes.
Her heart stopped.
Her body started to glow brighter, hotter—unstable.
Kara's voice crackled through the communicator, urgent and panicked.
> "Guys—she's about to explode!"
Back on the ground, Dante reacted first. His voice boomed through every channel.
> "Kara! You need to take her into space—NOW! If she blows up here, she'll level all of Central City!"
There was no hesitation.
Kara clutched the glowing body, wings of solar power arching from her shoulders, and rocketed toward the stars. She broke the atmosphere in seconds, the Earth shrinking behind her.
And then—she threw the body into deep space with every last ounce of her strength.
For a second, it floated there—weightless.
Then—boom.
A nuclear-light explosion burst like a dying star, sending out a shockwave that tore through space.
Kara's body twisted mid-flight as the impact slammed into her. Her suit burned from the heat. Her eyes shut. She lost consciousness.
And like an angel with broken wings, she began to fall.
---
Back on Earth, on the Waverider, Cisco sat frozen at the control panel, eyes wide with fear.
> "Guys…" he whispered. "Kara's falling. Fast. The explosion knocked her out. She's dropping through the atmosphere like a comet."
He tried to engage the ship's grappler.
Sparks flew. "Damn it! The Nazi soldiers damaged the ship—systems are down!"
The team on the ground looked up, watching a faint streak of light begin its descent.
Dante sighed.
He tossed the last bit of his cigarette to the ground and stepped forward.
He bounced once on his right leg.
Then on his left.
Barry smirked. "You still do that thing Goku does before a fight."
Dante cracked his neck, grinning. "What can I say? I love that anime."
Then—
He ran.
Lightning danced around him—first blue, then red, and then…
Black.
The very ground beneath his feet split apart from the raw energy. He raced through Central City like a shadow of destruction, blurring over buildings, past stunned civilians, across shattered highways.
And then—he reached the tallest rooftop.
He jumped.
And kept going.
Soaring high into the sky, breaking through the clouds, higher than jets, higher than drones.
There she was.
Falling.
Graceful.
Glowing.
Unconscious.
Kara.
He reached out.
Every muscle in Dante's body screamed.
His bones cracked, his skin split, lightning spiraled around him like a storm of gods.
He caught her.
And then—they fell.
Faster than the speed of sound.
The wind roared. The Earth pulled. Kara was limp in his arms.
And still—he smiled.
.....
A thunderclap of pure destruction ripped across the ground.
A crater 200 feet wide exploded into being as Dante slammed into the Earth, protecting Kara with his body.
The shockwave flattened trees, cracked buildings, and sent dust swirling into the sky.
But he held her.
Even as the ground beneath them shattered like glass—he never let go.
Moments later—
Barry, Oliver, Sara, Caitlin, and Cisco ran toward the crater, coughing from the smoke.
And there, in the center, surrounded by destruction, was Dante—cracked, bleeding, bones visibly broken, but alive.
Holding Kara in his arms.
Her suit was scorched, her skin bruised—but her chest rose and fell. She was alive.
"She's safe," Cisco breathed, stunned.
Dante blinked slowly, face coated in ash and blood. His voice was weak, sarcastic as ever.
> "Okay. Somebody… take her now. I'm literally being crushed. For God's sake."
Barry rushed in, gently lifting Kara from Dante's arms.
Caitlin and Cisco knelt beside him, already working on stabilizing his shattered body.
Dante's eyes fluttered shut.
But his smirk?
Still there.
