Morgan Joyce shook his head with a silent laugh. He leaned over, opened the thermal container on the coffee table, and took out the food. "I brought your favorites: Dongpo eggplant, beef stewed with tomatoes, stir-fried shrimp with cucumber, and century egg and lean pork congee."
"I'm absolutely falling in love with your family's cook."
Hannah Hale washed her hands, walked over to the sofa, and sat down. Picking up her chopsticks, she put a piece of beef in her mouth. "This is so delicious. Tell me, why am I so hopeless? My cooking skills aren't even a third as good as your family's cook."
"You're a doctor who saves lives. How is that hopeless? If you like our cook's food, I can have her make it for you all the time."
Hannah Hale swallowed her food and tilted her head slightly to look at Morgan Joyce. "For a lifetime, too?"
"Of course. As long as you're willing."
"At least you have a conscience. My taking a few days off to look after you in the hospital wasn't for nothing."
