Hannah Hale held a patient's chart in one hand, the other tucked into the pocket of her white coat, and smiled nonchalantly. "It depends on my mood. But I don't think she'll want to see anyone from the Peyton family."
"I'll have to trouble you, Dr. Hale. My mother did something wrong, so I have to go and apologize. Besides, it's a matter of life and death."
"So there's at least one sensible person in the Peyton family. All right, I have things to do. I'm leaving."
With that, Hannah Hale walked away.
Dr. Ward hurried a few steps to catch up. "Dr. Hale, what's all this bad blood about? First the police station, now a matter of life and death... It all sounds pretty scary."
"Mind your own business and get back to work."
"I'm just curious. Come on, tell me."
