"Redgrave, what kind of thing is that to say? What did women ever do to you?"
Zoe Yates asked, her expression full of righteous indignation.
"What's it to you? Are you a woman?"
Zoe Yates was struck speechless for a moment. She swallowed nervously and scrambled to explain, "I was just thinking... your future girlfriend and wife will both be women, Redgrave. I'm worried you're going to offend them ahead of time."
"It's just us in this room. Where do you see a girlfriend or a wife? Are you nuts?"
Aiden Shaw washed his hands, then came over and sat down beside Laura Lowell. His inscrutable gaze fell upon Zoe Yates.
His dark eyes were like X-rays, seemingly capable of seeing right through a person's innermost thoughts.
"Perhaps you've already offended your future girlfriend. You never know, right?"
As sharp as Aiden Shaw was, he had seen through the little assistant's disguise as a man the first few times Zoe Yates had come to his house.
