To get back to Earth, Rosen decisively abandoned Lord Bull and turned to traditional Chinese deities for help.
While praying, Rosen wasn't idle. He went back and forth through the door, trying to travel through the wormhole back to Earth, but everything around him remained unchanged. His imagined 'time-space wormhole' had simply thrown him into this other world and then left.
Finally, Rosen gave up. He leaned against the door and slumped helplessly to the ground.
He didn't know how long he sat there, but nothing around him changed. All signs indicated that he had indeed been transported to the world of *The Hunter*.
Rosen had a quirk, or you could call it a strength, which was that he was incredibly thick-skinned.
After the initial shock, he quickly recovered.
"Rosen Laplace…this body's father was a knight, owning thousands of acres of fertile land. The family is quite well-off…wait, why does the name Laplace sound so familiar? Could it be because of the great scientist, the Marquis of Laplace?"
The Marquis of Laplace, full name Pierre Simon Laplace, was the founder of celestial mechanics, the creator of astrophysical evolution, the founder of analytical probability theory, and also proposed the famous determinism (which has been disproven). In terms of contributions to science, in his time, he was second only to Newton. As a top student in physics, Rosen had heard of the Marquis of Laplace very well.
"No, no, it's not because of the Marquis of Laplace. I think I've seen that name somewhere before!"
This sense of familiarity wasn't new. When he first transmigrated, he found his surroundings very familiar, as if he had just experienced it recently.
"Something's not right, something's really not right."
Rosen stood up, retreated into the room, and carefully examined the wooden table in the center of the room.
The candlelight flickered gently on the table, reflecting a milky white light from the parchment book. Closing the book, the cover read, "An Introduction to Alchemy—by Albert."
More memories surfaced, belonging to the original owner of this body: "I was actually an alchemy apprentice! Half a year ago, a passing magician discovered my alchemical talent, so my father spent a fortune building me a basic alchemy lab. Unfortunately, I was dull-witted, and after six months of study, I made almost no progress...and there's something else in my head!"
Rosen discovered that deep within his mind, there seemed to be a fog, and something within it seemed about to burst forth.
"What is this? What is it?" Rosen scratched his head instinctively.
'Ding!'
His head jolted. Rosen found the air before him brightening slightly. A talent tree had appeared in the air before him, called 'The Path of Alchemy.'
'An alchemical talent tree! Isn't this something from a game? This thing came with me?' Rosen almost shouted.
In the game *The Hunt*, his character is a renowned alchemist hunter, whose greatest strength lies in alchemy.
Rosen chose this path because the physical rules of the *The Hunt* world are almost identical to those of the real world. Alchemy in the game is essentially Earth's chemistry, and Earth's chemistry falls under the realm of physics, closely related to his major, materials physics.
As a top student in materials physics, he thrived in the field of alchemy, becoming a world-renowned master hunter within three months of the game's launch.
The alchemy talent tree before him only had its first level activated, called 'Friend of the Elements,' and only one point was lit.
Rosen focused his attention on Friend of the Elements, and the description of the talent immediately appeared:
'Friend of the Elements: For every point activated, elemental perception increases by 100 points, and elemental control increases by 100 points.'
Rosen was delighted: 'The effect is exactly the same as in the game. This activated point must be this body's innate alchemical talent.' However, from a gameplay perspective, having only 1 point of Elemental Friend is quite weak. I wonder what it would be like in the real world?
"In the game, players gain experience and activate talent points by hunting monsters. I wonder if this world can do that too..." Hunting monsters... I know why this place looks so familiar! Rosen finally understood why he had felt a strange sense of familiarity with his surroundings: 'Laplace Manor! This is Laplace Manor! Oh my god~ Wasn't I just fighting the vampire boss in the second-floor hall of this manor's wooden building?'
The perspective on the LCD screen was completely different from the real world. After staring for so long, Rosen finally came to his senses.
This memory was like a vine, pulling out a whole host of new memories.
'Right, I've been to this room before, right here, by the table. When I arrived, there was a boy's corpse lying here. The vampire also killed Sir Laplace and his wife, and the entire manor was full of corpses. He slaughtered all the residents of the manor!'
All the clues pointed to Rosen's identity after his transmigration: the boy in Laplace Manor who was supposed to be killed by the boss, Sir Laplace's only son.
'It can't be that much of a coincidence, can it?' Rosen's legs trembled slightly.
'I'm still alive, which means the monster hasn't come yet?' He felt a sliver of hope.
'Whoosh~ Whoosh~'
Rosen took a few breaths, frowning: "What's that smell? It's weird." A peculiar smell filled the air, somewhat sweet, yet somehow reminiscent of rust—it smelled like blood!
Rosen recognized the smell; there was a slaughterhouse near town when he was a child, and he could always smell a similar stench whenever he passed by, though never nearly as strong as this.
He became alert: 'Why is there such a strong smell of blood in the middle of the night?'
'Ugh...ugh...thump...thump!'
A very faint sound seemed to be coming from above in the hallway. Rosen listened intently; the sound became clearer, like a groan, or perhaps a struggle for breath. Rosen had never heard this sound before, but he could vaguely sense the despair within it.
