Chapter 5 - 5

On the large bed in the room were two figures: Rosen's mother and a blond man—or rather, a man with blond curly hair.

Rosen's mother, also wearing only pajamas, leaned against the blond man's chest, her hands flailing aimlessly in the air, her legs twitching involuntarily, kicking the bed with a 'thump-thump' sound, and making 'uh-uh' sounds from her throat.

The blond man leaned against the headboard, holding Rosen's mother in his arms, his head lowered, his mouth close to her neck, occasionally making very soft 'gurgling' swallowing sounds.

The scene was like a ferocious beast biting a deer's neck, drinking its blood while the deer could only struggle in vain.

"A vampire...sun-like golden curly hair, a tall and slender body..." Rosen felt his legs begin to ache and weaken, as if he were about to collapse.

Although he couldn't see the blond man's face, from the details he could see, this vampire looked exactly like the high-ranking vampire Rosen had just killed in the game.

Just then, the vampire by the bedside suddenly raised his head. His mouth was covered in blood, with thick drops still dripping, but this didn't obscure his captivating features or his bright, lake-blue eyes.

He looked towards Rosen, his gaze meeting Rosen's. His blood-soaked mouth parted slightly, revealing a wicked smile, his eyes seeming to say, "I found you a long time ago. You don't need to run; just wait to die."

'It really is him!' "Viken, a high-ranking vampire!" Rosen was terrified by that glance. He involuntarily retreated, his feet thumping loudly on the balcony railing. Finally, he slammed heavily against the wooden railing with a loud crash. Had the railing not been high enough, Rosen would have fallen straight down the stairs!

"How could I be so unlucky? Transmigrating is bad enough, but to run into a high-ranking vampire like this right away is like hell!"

"What do I do? What do I do? This kid has already found me! I have no chance to fight back, and no way to escape. Am I really just going to wait to die?"

"Maybe I can go back to Earth after I die, but what if I can't? I only have one life; once I'm dead, I'm dead. There's no going back!"

"Am I really going to wait to die? No, no, no, I haven't lived enough yet! I want to live! I want to live!"

After sitting on the balcony for more than a minute, Rosen slowly came to his senses. He turned his head and glanced at Viken, the vampire in the room, and saw that he had bitten Rosen's mother's neck again, continuing to suck her blood.

A thought flashed through Rosen's mind: 'If the prey is a noblewoman, Viken likes to suck blood slowly. In his words, noblewomen's blood is more palatable, and he wants to savor it.' This judgment wasn't arbitrary. In the game, he had tried 49 times, employing various methods, to defeat the vampire Viken. He had thoroughly researched this vampire boss, which was now his greatest asset.

'Judging from the situation, Viken will continue to suck blood for a while. I don't have the ability to save him, but as an alchemist, I have a sliver of hope for self-preservation!'

With this thought, Rosen immediately scrambled up the balcony railing, returned to his room, and ran back to the alchemy room at the corner of the hallway.

'Vampires are as fast as the wind, incredibly strong, their claws can shatter metal and stone, and their senses are far more acute than humans. If I run away directly, I have no chance of escape!'

'I'm not a master hunter now, and I don't have any alchemical weapons. I'm just a rich young master under 15 years old, knowing nothing. My alchemy skills are only at a beginner level. I'm no match for him, not even a hundred of me.'

'Although Viken is a vampire maniac, he's arrogant and loves to show off.' "High-ranking vampires think like humans, which means if I can exploit their weaknesses to set a trap, I have a glimmer of hope!"

"Yes, a trap! But how do I set one? What kind of trap works on vampires?"

Rosen almost instinctively ran back to the alchemy room. During that time, his mind raced, desperately trying to think of a way to protect himself.

Upon returning to the alchemy room, Rosen immediately lit all twelve candles on the candlestick, instantly illuminating the room and revealing many dark corners.

To the left of the wooden table was a bookshelf, and next to it was a decorative wooden shelf holding a bottle of red wine, a bottle of musk balm, and numerous bottles and jars of varying sizes—about twenty-five or twenty-six in total.

"These are all alchemical potions."

Rosen's mind suddenly raced, and a flood of memories about alchemy surged through his mind, mostly from the game *The Hunt* in his previous life, and a small portion from the memories of the otherworldly Rosen. The former consisted of recipes for various alchemical items, while the latter represented concrete alchemical practices from the real world.

Metaphysical knowledge and practical experience were perfectly integrated, forming alchemy truly usable in this other world!

How could Rosen survive against the vampire Viken?

Of course, he couldn't rely on Viken's mercy; that guy had no mercy whatsoever. Rosen's only hope now lay in alchemy and the alchemical reagents displayed on the wooden shelf before him.

Rosen strode towards the shelf, opening each alchemical reagent one by one.

"Plaster, alum, quartz, charcoal, saltpeter, orchid extract, glycerin, etc. What's this?"

Rosen opened a black bottle, and a faint musky scent immediately filled the air. After smelling it for a while, he felt slightly dizzy.

He recognized it: "It's datura root extract!"

Datura, also known as the Angel's Horn, has a root extract with a faint musky scent and strong anesthetic properties. It can cause delirium and hallucinations, and in large quantities, it can even be fatal. This bottle of extract contains about 30 milliliters, which is very concentrated; if an ordinary person drank it, there's a certain chance of death. Most importantly, this stuff also works on vampires.
