Chapter 1 - Prologue

The ground kept rumbling and shaking, which made the fear coursing through him increase. He had known this would happen, expected it. Yet, the feeling of it actually happening was different from knowing it. The sense of helplessness and horror gripped his heart in a way he never thought he could experience. Seeing the terror and sorrow on his parents' faces made him want to cry out, for them to hold him. Yet, the crying of his brother kept it at bay.

He didn't want to add to his parents' stress already, even when they were working on their pod. He took in the sight of them, etching every detail about them and ingraining them into his mind. It felt like it was only yesterday that he awoke to this new world, one that he recognised due to the fact that he knew the symbol on his father's chest. The House of El.

One problem he had, or maybe it was a blessing, was that he couldn't remember his past life all that well. Only certain comics, shows, movies, or general knowledge in his life. Yet, it didn't feel like it was his life, more like he was just a set of information that was in his head.

Another shake occurred, this one with more disasters than the last one. He held onto the ship tighter; the sound of Kal's crying made him all the more nervous, and he watched as his parents discussed something in hushed voices. They walked towards them, their faces solemn and sad.

"I suppose this is it then." His mother, Lara, said stiffly. He could see the tears in her eyes and the way her hands were clenched by her sides. "Yes." His father, Jor, said. His deep voice offered but a moment's comfort before the place shook once again.

"We have to send them before it is too late." His father said, his voice urgent. His mother nodded. Then, his father looked at them and spoke. "My sons, you will travel far and wide. You will accomplish great things, that I know. Even after this, we will always be with you." The moment he heard those words, everything around him faded into the background. He stared at his parents, and all he wanted in that moment was to be in their arms, with him and his brother safe.

Yet, he knew in the deepest part of his heart that it was just the hopeful part of him. His father kissed them on their heads, with his mother following suit. It seemed to calm Kal; her kiss projected all the love she had for them. And then, with all his might, he did something that he hoped would bring peace to his parents.

"Mama." He blurted, and heard his mother's breath hitch, which soon broke out into giggles. A laugh that sounded like music to his ears. His father chuckled, something that was rare for him. "Papa." The man looked shocked for once before laughing loudly.

"I see you've been holding out on us this entire time, my son." His father looked at him with a prideful smile, to which he returned. "My beautiful Kon." His mother said, looking at him with a tearful smile, before turning to look at them both. "My beautiful boys. Go. Live and be free." She said.

The ship closed the panel between them, and it roared to life. His parents waved at them, and Kon-El took Kal's hand in his and waved back. Soon, they weren't visible anymore, and they left Krypton's atmosphere.

He watched Krypton and noticed another ship following after them. Kara's ship. Suddenly, it happened. He watched in horror and fascination as the cracks in Krypton became visible, and without warning, Krypton exploded. He saw Kara's ship get knocked off course and watched as it got sucked into a wormhole, one that presumably led to the phantom zone. The only consolation he had was that he knew she would live.

The phantom drive activated, and with that, they were sucked into the phantom zone. Their destination? Earth. His future home. And with that thought, he let it out. He cried out for his family. For his race. For the possibilities that could have been.

[Earth's Atmosphere]

In the vast expanse of space, a small wormhole opened up, and what came out was a ship with a plethora of glowing green rocks floating behind it. The ship blasted off towards Earth, and it didn't take long for it to penetrate the atmosphere. It entered the state of Kansas at a small town called Smallville.

Following behind it were the remnants of Krypton raining down on the small town, destroying properties, killing civilians, and sending the locals into a panic. But unnoticed among the rainfall of rocks was a ship, crash landing on an expanse of land filled with corn.

[Kon-El]His tears dried a while ago, yet the emptiness hasn't left. Kon was sure that it would never leave him, would stay with him for the rest of his life. His blanket brought him only a little bit of comfort. The only blessing was that he was sure Kal would never remember what happened, would live the rest of his life never knowing what it would feel like to see his own race die right before his eyes.

"Jonathan! Jonathan! Wake up, Jonathan!" He heard a voice yell, a woman's. She sounded worried and panicked. "Huh, wha? Martha?" A deeper voice responded, sounding disoriented. He heard the sounds of moving and the slam of the door, most likely.

"What the hell is this?" The man's voice was closer, his voice laced with confusion. Kal whimpered next to him, and he reached out for his brother's hand to comfort him. The ship opened up with a hiss, and light assaulted them. He let out a gasp, his body feeling energized again. It was as though he was being sleep deprived his whole life and woke up after getting a good sleep.

Kon felt his body get stronger, stronger than he ever thought. It didn't seem to stop. "My God..." The man, Jonathan, whispered. "Are those babies?" He heard the woman whisper. He already knew that these two were Superman's Earth parents, yet what were the odds of them actually landing next to the time.

Martha looked at them in shock, but it seemed as though something possessed her right then. "Jonathan, go get blankets from the truck." She ordered the man, who looked at her in shock. "What? Martha, these aren't just any kids. They're from space! Who knows what they are?" Jonathan argued, which seemed to make Kal laugh out loud.

The man turned to look at them once again, his features softening up a bit. "They're kids, Jonathan. Not some parasitic monsters." Martha replied sternly. The man looked like he was about to argue, but stopped at the look his wife was giving him. "Fine, but I don't like this." He walked over to his truck.

The man came back with two blankets, which Martha took from him. She knelt down and wrapped his brother in one, handing him off to her husband, while scooping him up in the other. He looked at her, pouting. He didn't like being carried. Not one bit. Instead of fearing him, the woman smiled. Smiled! He glared at her harder.

"This one's moody." She chuckled, looking at her husband. "I wonder where they came from?" She voiced. "Who knows?" Jonathan said, hefting up his brother again.

"We should take them in." Martha suddenly said. This time, Jonathan looked at her as though she were crazy. "What?!" He yelled out. "Think about it, Jonathan. If we gave these kids to the government, what do you think they'll do? Raise them?"

"Oh." Jonathan said. "How are we gonna raise kids from space?" He asked her, to which she shrugged. "One step at a time."

[A/N]

I wrote some previous fanfics that I really lost inspiration for and couldn't finish due to the fact that I felt stuck. I felt constrained because it feel's like I was following canon no matter what. In this fanfic, I could write my own plot and not feel like I'm writing a show.

Also, this fanfic won't follow canon. It's really a mix between the show Smallville and Dc, with only a few chapters being dedicated to Smallville, excluding the first couple of chapters. I want to make this about my character, not just him following Clark around. Also, leave reviews!!! No spam and be honest, if something isn't to your liking tell me.
