Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Can't You Behave?

Lyle Sutton, on the other hand, looked gratified—this daughter of his was finally starting to seem less annoying.

See? Now she actually knows how to do chores.

Who still dares call his daughter lazy?

Luna Sutton had no clue what Lyle was thinking. If she'd known, she probably would've died laughing. All it takes to not be called lazy is washing a beast pelt?

She didn't care about the beastmen around her all looking like they'd seen a ghost.

She just focused on drying the beast pelts.

By the time she finished, all the beastmen gathered on the plaza had transformed into their beast forms.

Looking around, all she saw were wolves in every color.

There were pure white snow wolves, pitch black like ink, and gray ones, brown ones, speckled ones…

All sorts of shapes and sizes, but every single one looked powerful and fierce—just looking at them gave you chills.

Luna gave a quick glance—there had to be at least a hundred wolves.

Her father, Lyle Sutton, had also turned into a mighty giant gray wolf. He looked a size larger than every other wolf present. His wolf eyes were razor-sharp and cold—a face that screamed 'not to be messed with.'

She swallowed hard, and quietly stepped back two paces, putting as much distance as she could from that giant wolf.

Even though she knew this was her father and he wouldn't hurt her, she couldn't help being scared.

Seriously, this wolf just looked way too fierce.

The moment Lyle shifted, his sharp gaze immediately found her, and seeing her step back, a trace of displeasure flashed in his eyes.

What the hell? Is she scared?

Did this brat forget who gave birth to her?

He walked up to Corbin Crowley, opened his wolf mouth and, speaking human tongue, said, "Corbin, I'll leave Luna to you. You take her."

Without waiting for Corbin to agree, he jerked his wolfish head toward Luna. The meaning was obvious: get on Corbin's back.

Luna's mouth twitched hard. Why did this feel like an obvious setup?

The original owner had been utterly infatuated with Corbin, using her father's status to make him do all sorts of things for her.

She even made Corbin carry her and hug her.

Corbin had always despised the original, and if not for Lyle, he'd have choked her out long ago.

Lyle certainly knew his daughter's thoughts—even though he found her annoying and disappointing, she was still his own, so of course he'd help her all he could.

Luna didn't refuse Lyle's good intentions and looked over at Corbin.

There he was, already in beast form—a gigantic wolf with shimmering silvery fur.

He stood a head taller than the others, easily over two meters long, nearly a meter high; his fur white as snow, his strange silvery eyes icy and piercing, yet somehow deeply attractive.

Just standing there in the plaza, he was all imposing majesty and lethal beauty at once.

No wonder the original owner was crazy about him.

She walked up to Corbin, and before he could even react, swiftly climbed onto his back and sat down.

Wow—this wolf fur really felt amazing. Soft and smooth, and it was so steady, she didn't have to worry about falling off at all.

Corbin's body gave a violent shudder—he turned his head to glance at her, eyes shadowy and faintly murderous.

He'd just let this ugly female sit on him?!

Was he crazy?

Corbin wanted so badly to fling this ugly chick right off, but since it was the leader's order, he swallowed his temper.

Whatever—he'd just pretend she was a piece of luggage. Once they got into the forest, he'd just dump her somewhere.

Lyle saw everyone was ready; his commanding voice rang out from the front. "Let's go!"

He spoke human words.

With that, his wolf frame leaped and, with impressive speed, dashed out of the tribe. In a flash, he was gone.

Corbin snapped out of his thoughts, stretched his wolf legs, and quickly followed, running as fast as the wind.

The rest of the beastmen saw and all streamed after him.

Mia was not far away. Watching the group head off, her gaze was locked tightly on Luna's vanishing figure, eyes full of jealousy and hate.

That ugly, lazy, nasty female had actually awakened a special power, and now even got the leader to take her hunting.

And now she was sitting on Corbin's back? Unforgivable.

Why her? Why?

Mia's silver teeth clenched. She was so mad she was about to explode, her fists at her sides, nails digging deep into her palms, not feeling a bit of pain.

Her gaze was icy cold, like a venomous serpent, boring into the direction Luna had disappeared.

Meanwhile, sitting on Corbin's back, Luna felt the rough bounce of the wolf's run, but wasn't afraid at all.

On the contrary, the thrill of this wild ride left her utterly exhilarated.

The world before her eyes was dazzlingly strange—everything was just so fantastical.

She softly petted Corbin's fur. She had to admit—it felt amazing. Softer and smoother than any blanket she'd ever used.

It made her never want to let go.

Corbin felt the touch on his back and shuddered again, almost tossing her off.

He turned his head, cold silver wolf eyes blazing with anger, glaring viciously—a clear warning.

Luna: "..."

Her lips twitched and, inside, she was completely speechless.

This damned guy—it's just some petting, why's he gotta act all gross about it?

And glare at her?

She rolled her eyes but stopped petting him; instead, she gripped his fur tightly to keep herself from falling off.

Corbin, noticing the ugly female on his back was finally behaving, eased his icy, violent glare.

Rhys Blackwood had transformed into a jet-black giant python over ten meters long, massive and sinister with its cold, vertical pupils—downright terrifying to look at.

Staring at what was happening ahead, his snake eyes flashed with a strange light. Who knows what he was thinking, but suddenly he slithered right up next to Luna.

Then he coiled his thick body upward, circling Luna right where she rode on the wolf's back.

"Ahhh… help…"

Suddenly trapped by a giant python, Luna screeched in terror, instinctively tightening her grip around Corbin's neck.

Her voice was loud, and pressed right against Corbin's back.

The shriek rang right in Corbin's ears, making his wolf ears buzz painfully.

His face turned stormy, all his fur standing on end, silver wolf eyes going wild with rage—he nearly threw her off.

This damned ugly chick—could she not sit still for one second?

Luna quickly realized she was being ridiculous, still clinging to Corbin's neck and basically hanging off his body.

She let go in embarrassment and switched to gripping his back fur with a nervous laugh, "Sorry, I didn't mean to…"

Snakes really weren't her thing. She just couldn't appreciate them—she was born to be scared of them, okay?

Rhys was stunned by her reaction, a hint of confusion in his vertical pupils.

Was he really that scary?

How come he'd never seen other females react like that to him before?

He stared hard at Luna for a good while.

Then he twisted his body, shrinking a little, and wrapped himself around Corbin's wolf form, just his head stretched out, cold vertical pupils fixed on Luna, studying her.

Luna's scalp was tingling under his gaze. She felt totally on edge, doing her best to ignore that stare.

Rhys' true form was honestly creepy—who knew when she'd ever get used to it.

Corbin was also thoroughly annoyed by Rhys' move. He finally couldn't help but speak, icy voice cutting through: "Rhys, let go already."

This damned Rhys—why the hell was he wrapping around him?

If it weren't for the setting, he'd have bitten this black snake a good one already.

Rhys ignored him, still coiled around Corbin, as if Corbin didn't exist. He kept his cold vertical eyes fixed on Luna, like he was trying to figure out why she was so scared of him.

When Rhys just blew him off, Corbin's wolfy face went pure black, fur bristling—he was clearly on the verge of flipping out.

This damned rotten snake…
