Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Discovering Wild Ginger

She quickly ran over, squatted down to examine carefully, and found that it really looked like wild ginger, but she didn't dare to be sure.

She looked around for a sharp stone, cautiously dug away the soil, and exposed the ginger underneath.

It wasn't buried deep, so she soon dug out the whole ginger root.

The shape was a bit like an adult's palm—thick and fat, covered in mud—but it was definitely wild ginger.

She was extremely excited inside.

Ginger is a good thing—it can be used as seasoning and keeps away the cold. Especially in the cold winter, having a bowl of piping hot ginger soup at night is just wonderful.

This patch of wild ginger had at least dozens of plants, each one especially sturdy.

Ginger can't be allowed to spoil, so it's fine to dig a bit more.

After confirming it was wild ginger, she started energetically digging, putting what she dug into her basket.

Although there seemed to be a lot of wild ginger, once she actually dug, it wasn't that much.

She picked the healthier ones and dug all of them up, leaving those that weren't doing well or were still growing to keep on growing.

Once she'd finished digging the whole patch, she had about twenty roots—enough to last her a while.

She was drenched in sweat, even her back was soaked. The beast skin skirt was stuffy and hot, clinging to her skin and making her terribly uncomfortable.

Luna Sutton looked up at the sky—the sun was getting higher, probably around 11 a.m.; no wonder it was so hot.

Sweat dripped down her acne-covered face, itching like crazy, making her want to scratch it more than once.

But her hands were muddy, so she gave a wry smile and held back.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a stream nearby and walked over there.

She squatted by the creek, washed her hands, and then splashed a handful of water on her face; she instantly felt a lot better.

Her face wasn't that itchy anymore either.

The creek reflected a pitted, acne-ridden, and downright ugly face. She couldn't help but sigh inside.

So ugly—even she couldn't stand it.

Luna thought about how she hadn't used her ability to detox today; since it wasn't much trouble, she might as well do it now.

Palm up, a vine sprouted out, growing rapidly and crawling up her face.

The emerald tips of the vine glowed with a faint green light, covering her entire face and beginning the detoxification.

She was focused on the detox and didn't pay attention to her surroundings at all.

Just then, a large wolf with mossy green fur silently poked its head out from the bushes.

It was Zeke Veridian, hunting nearby.

He'd intended to come for water, not expecting to see Luna Sutton here.

Seeing the vine sprouting from her palm, he realized this was her Wood Element ability awakening yesterday.

Watching the vine crawl up her face and emit a greenish glow, though, he had no idea what she was doing.

Zeke's wolf eyes flashed with confusion, but he didn't reveal himself, just watched in hiding.

Soon, he saw black, thick, dirty stuff oozing from Luna Sutton's face, coating the whole face and even clogging her eyes and nostrils.

Even from far away, he could smell the stench—it disgusted him, filling his eyes with contempt.

He watched Luna Sutton calmly retract the vine, then calmly wash the black grime from her face.

As she cleaned her face,

Zeke clearly noticed her pimples seemed to be gone, leaving only faint acne marks behind.

So, this ugly thing was using her power to treat her face?

Could Luna Sutton's ability be healing?

The tribe's witch doctor also has a Wood Element ability, used for healing.

But this looked a bit different.

Zeke's gaze lingered on Luna Sutton's face. As much as he disliked her, he had to admit she looked a bit more pleasing now—at least not as revolting as before.

Of course, still ugly.

After all, she's so fat—just looks stupid. Tiny eyes, flat nose, an absurdly big mouth, and a mouthful of buck teeth.

Even if all the pimples were gone, she's still an ugly freak.

He didn't hang around. After drinking a couple mouthfuls of water, he quietly left.

Luna Sutton had no idea Zeke was watching her from the shadows, had left quietly, and secretly despised her to death.

After washing her face, she scooped a drink from the stream, finally feeling less hot.

Suddenly, she felt a bit hungry. She'd only had a few roasted fish and half a chunk of roast meat this morning—already long gone by now.

She picked a few wild fruits nearby and ate them. They were sweet enough, but not filling at all—in fact, the more she ate, the hungrier she felt.

Her mouth was really craving meat.

Thinking about losing weight, she held back.

Better to stick to fruit—fruit helps with digestion. Since coming here, she hadn't had a bowel movement, which clearly meant constipation.

Luna ate a few more wild fruits, rested a bit, then slung on her basket and kept foraging.

She wasn't picky; anything useful or edible, she threw in the basket.

Soon, it was half full.

Most were seasonings and wild vegetables; she also found quite a few herbs.

Some for treating colds, some to stop bleeding.

She even dug up several notoginseng roots.

The forest was rich in resources. She didn't go far, just searched nearby and still found plenty of good stuff.

The Winged Tiger Tribe, inside an enormous and spacious cave.

Chloe Callahan sat on a stone bed, staring blankly at the strange and primitive surroundings, feeling scared and lost inside.

She remembered clearly trying on a skirt at a clothing store, then suddenly passing out.

At the time, she thought she'd run into human traffickers—maybe had been drugged and kidnapped, probably to be sold off somewhere remote.

But when she woke, she found herself in a primeval forest.

God knows, she'd nearly died of fright then—and ran into a massive rainbow python.

She'd never seen a python so big—at least a dozen meters long, and super thick.

Bigger than the ones in any disaster movies.

The rainbow python suddenly pounced toward her.

It even flicked its tongue, staring with icy, vertical pupils.

She was so scared she screamed, almost fainted.

Just when she thought she'd become snake food, a huge White Tiger saved her.

And it had wings—a winged White Tiger.

Chloe Callahan was stunned.

My god, a tiger with wings that can fly?

Did she transmigrate into a fantasy world?

Soon after, she saw the White Tiger transform into a tall, extremely handsome man, with a beast skin wrapped around his waist—he was really too hot.

Chloe had never seen such a gorgeous guy in her life—made all those pretty boys from the entertainment industry look like scrubs.

So handsome and S.

He made her legs go weak and her eyes sparkle; she wanted to have baby tigers for him right away...

The rest happened naturally—she was brought back to his tribe and lived in his cave.

At the same time, she learned she had crossed over into the Beastman World.

She had loved beastman novels in her past life and had fantasized about crossing over to such a world and being pursued by all kinds of hotties.

She never expected it to come true here.

Back in the modern world, she was average in every way—so plain she disappeared in a crowd, never the center of attention.

But here in the Beastman World, females were rare and precious—you could even have multiple Beast Husbands.

Her looks might be just average, but her skin was fair.

One fair skin covers a hundred flaws.

In this world where everyone else had rough, yellow, or dark skin, her complexion was the most beautiful.

She'd definitely attract lots of beastmen, win all their devotion.

The idea of being chased by a crowd of beastmen made her excited and impatient.

Chloe Callahan was lost in her wonderful fantasies, unable to snap out of it for a while.

Completely unaware that danger was quietly approaching.
