Not far from here, in a certain cave, Pearl Vance stared blankly at her surroundings.
She realized she had been reborn.
Reborn to the time when she had lost everything, before Chloe Callahan had arrived in the Winged Tiger Tribe.
In her previous life, she was framed by Chloe Callahan's schemes and ended up as the tribe's communal female, tortured to death.
Though it was what she deserved, the unforgettable pain and hatred felt as vivid as yesterday.
She had never imagined she'd get another chance to start over.
"Hahaha..."
Pearl sat on the stone bed and suddenly burst into wild laughter, laughing recklessly, but tears streamed down her face.
She gritted her teeth and said, "Heaven's finally got eyes—Chloe Callahan, this life, let's compete again! This time I will never lose to you!"
In her past life, all those things Chloe Callahan knew, now she knew as well. She would make those things beforehand and then let's see what Chloe Callahan could use to attract Caleb Manning.
Relying just on that paler face?
Last life, she was obsessed with Caleb, and in order to become his mate, she'd stop at nothing. Yet in the end, she met such a tragic fate.
Meanwhile, that Chloe Callahan walked over her corpse, enjoyed Caleb and all the Beastmen's affection, and lived a happy and blissful life.
She resented it so much!
Thankfully, she had been reborn—there was still time to change everything.
Pearl got out of bed, her eyes frosty and filled with resentment.
This life, she would not lose to Chloe Callahan again. She would snatch back everything that belonged to her, and make that hypocritical, venomous female taste a fate worse than death.
She stepped out of the cave, wanting to scout out the current situation.
But she hadn't gone far before she overheard some females gossiping.
"Did you hear? Caleb Manning brought back a really pretty female and let her stay in his cave!"
"Really? What does she look like? Is she prettier than Pearl Vance?"
"How could that be? Pearl is the most beautiful female in our tribe, no one can compare. But that new female does look nice—her skin is super pale, completely different from ours."
...
All these comments fell into Pearl's ears, making her expression shift as a sense of foreboding rose in her heart.
Caleb brought back a female? And let her live in his cave? Her skin is quite pale?
Could it be Chloe Callahan?
Pearl frowned. No, in her past life, this time Chloe Callahan should have been in The Wolf Tribe—why would she suddenly appear here in the Winged Tiger Tribe and get brought back by Caleb?
Regardless of whether the new female was Chloe Callahan or not, she had to check it out herself.
Her heart a mess, she spun around hurriedly and rushed to Caleb's cave.
Luckily, it wasn't far. She got there soon enough.
At a glance she saw Chloe Callahan sitting on the stone bed, her expression blank as she looked at her.
Pearl was thunderstruck, her face full of shock—completely disbelieving,
Chloe Callahan.
It's really her?
This hypocritical, venomous female who had destroyed her so cruelly last life, had actually appeared in the Winged Tiger Tribe in advance?
What the hell is going on? Why is it different from last time?
Did she remember wrong, or did something happen she didn't know about?
Pearl's mind was in chaos, unable to make sense of it.
But on seeing Chloe Callahan, hatred surged inside her, and she felt she could spit fire from her eyes.
She glared death at Chloe Callahan, desperate to tear this female to shreds.
She couldn't act so rashly—if she really did something to Chloe Callahan, Caleb would never forgive her.
Last life's lesson was enough—she didn't want to go through it again.
She took a deep breath and forced herself to hold back.
Chloe Callahan looked at Pearl, puzzled. She didn't know this woman—just thought the other was strange, staring at her without saying a word.
But she could tell Pearl was a female of the Winged Tiger Tribe and had no idea why she was here.
Could she be Caleb's mate?
At that thought, she felt a bit unhappy.
Yet she quickly realized that couldn't be true—if Caleb already had a mate, why would he let her stay in his cave?
"Who are you? Are you looking for Caleb Manning for something? He's not here right now."
Chloe Callahan got up from the stone bed, her eyes looking curiously at Pearl, probing as she spoke up.
Pearl heard her words and almost couldn't resist tearing that fake face apart, but managed to hold herself back.
She pursed her lips, forcing an awkward, stiff smile that looked anything but natural.
She tried her best to sound friendly. "You must be the female Caleb brought back? You're really beautiful; I've never seen a female as pretty as you."
Chloe felt quite happy to be complimented. "Thank you, you're beautiful too."
The female before her really was gorgeous. Her skin wasn't snow-white, but was a healthy wheat color. Tall, sexy, curvy in all the right places—slim where she should be, full where she needed to be, like she might explode out of her skin.
Her features were sharp and refined, amber eyes, a head of golden, seaweed-like hair loosely tied up, and wearing a tight beast skin skirt—she looked quite Western.
Totally different from herself.
She secretly pouted. Men usually liked petite, gentle, and delicate women, the water-town type. This female, though pretty, was too tall and broad—probably not a man's cup of tea.
She probably couldn't spark their urge to protect her. Thinking this, her confidence returned.
Pearl heard her words and was seething inside. This hypocritical woman was always pretending to be nice.
"Thanks, you're really beautiful too. Especially your skin—it's so white, nothing like ours. I'm sure Caleb will really like that."
Chloe got even happier with the compliment. She blushed a little but smiled brighter. "Really? I think my skin's pretty fair too. Caleb said I look very pretty as well."
Watching her look so pleased and defenseless, Pearl's hatred surged again. But she held her tongue.
She was afraid if she talked anymore, she really would lash out.
After a couple polite words, she left in a hurry.
She needed to get ahead of Chloe and find edible food, and weave baskets, make pottery, cook delicious food, and build a house—all before Chloe made the first move.
Once she made everything first, the credit would be hers.
What would Chloe Callahan matter then?
She'd seen Chloe do it in her last life and remembered how to make these things.
Chloe had no idea about any of this. Seeing Pearl leave, she didn't care and just thought Pearl was curious and came to check her out.
Luna Sutton had no idea what was going on in the Winged Tiger Tribe. Right now, she was happily collecting supplies at Tagren Forest.
Her basket was already filled and she'd put it under her usual chestnut tree, planning to come back for it later.
Today, she found a whole cabbage patch—each head was huge, enough for her to eat for days. She picked all she could carry.
She filled four huge baskets with cabbage and dug up plenty of other wild vegetables—water celery, shepherd's purse, fiddleheads, all sorts.
There were all kinds of mushrooms too: shiitake, wood ear, enoki, king oyster, tea tree mushrooms, bamboo fungus, and more...
She even found a clump of snow fungus.
Tagren Forest might not have much else, but the variety of mushrooms was amazing. They were thick, plump, juicy, and huge—no one had picked them before.
