Chapter 1 - Prologue

He sharply turned the corner; a sharp pain rose through his ankle as he twisted it on the slightly wet concrete. There was only one way to go from here, and that was over the low-sitting, yellow-stained fence. Bearing through the pain in his left ankle, he quickly lunges over the yellow fence. Past the fence was just a small grassy area, with a bush to the right, against the old, grey-bricked abandoned building. Leaping into the bush, another sharp pain shot throughout his body. However, he knew that even one sound could give away where he was hiding.

Now sitting in a bush, a tear in the right shoulder of his black-and-blue sweater was visible, now stained with blood. Through the tear all you could spot was a raw, gaping crimson-filled hole in his shoulder. A purplish bump had formed around the twisted ankle; he could no longer put weight on it or move it. A tear slowly traced its way down his cheek.

"W-Why?" He quietly let out. "Why me?"

The cold and dark environment did not make it easy for him to stay hidden, but what choice did he have?

The only thing he was left with that night were his thoughts. Why is it always me? I hate this world, what is the point of living if I am forced to live like this? He wished to act upon these dark thoughts, but the pain was far too much to even move anymore.

I hate myself after that thought, his world faded black. He collapsed due to both agony and exhaustion.
