He found out from the building security log on a Monday, which was becoming a habit he had not intended to develop.
The entry read: exterior photographer logged near east entrance, Saturday, six-forty-three pm. Unknown individual. Footage retrieved.
He pulled the footage. The image was grainy at this distance but the coat was recognisable and the angle, positioned at the corner where the building entrance was visible and where a person leaving via the side door would walk directly into frame, was not accidental. Holmes, or someone working for Holmes, had been outside the building on a Saturday evening.
He sent the footage to Dylan with a single line: Add it to the file. Dylan's reply came in under two minutes: Already have it. Call you at nine.
