If Quartz had become excited because he saw Albert through Ford's "eyes," it only made things even harder to understand.
Why would he assume that Albert was the "god"? Did the god look very similar to him?
And who exactly was this god? Why did Quartz seem to hate him so much—
A strange feeling surfaced in Albert's heart.
All these fragments of information seemed to be pointing toward some deeper secret he didn't yet know. And that secret might very well be related to him… or rather, to the original owner of this body.
In fact, from the very beginning until now, Albert had never known anything about the body's original owner. What his name had been, what he used to do—none of it was clear. When Albert first saw the body lying dead on the street, he had assumed the person had simply been an utterly ordinary individual.
But now, some of the clues suggested that the original owner of this body might actually have been connected to someone dangerous.
