From the outside, Emily's life looked perfect.
A tall glass mansion stood at the heart of the city, shining under the evening lights like something out of a dream. Inside, everything was polished — the floors, the furniture, even the smiles.
Especially the smiles.
"Sit properly, Emily."
Her mother's voice cut through the silence like a knife.
Emily adjusted her posture at the dining table without saying a word. Her father didn't even look up from his phone.
"You're not a child anymore," her mother continued. "Start acting like someone worthy of this family."
