The rhythmic sound of marching feet echoed from the school field. Several temporary tents were set up in front of Building 5. The front row was for the judges, with areas for contestants' preparation and rest behind them.
Three NPC judges were admiring the NPC Girl Guides performing their drills on the field. Although I'm not very good at evaluating marching, their neat uniforms, synchronized steps, and the distinctive precision drill display gave me a feeling that "our team doesn't need to compete."
"I checked the competition roster. Chairman Iu Wei Syuen is our team's commander. He'll be coming to compete later," said an NPC male KRS member sitting in the row in front of me.
"Really? The Chairman is really coming? That's great!" an NPC female KRS member said excitedly. "With Chairman Wei Syuen leading us, it looks like this year's championship trophy will once again be ours, the KRS."
At that moment, the voice of the competition NPC announcer came through: "Now, we have the KRS taking the field."
"KRS, united as one, forge ahead bravely, strive to be number one!"
After all the NPC KRS members finished shouting their motivational chant together, they queued up nearby, ready to enter the field.
"Aren't we going to queue up?" I stood up and took a few steps, but Xin Hui and Zi Qian remained seated in the contestants' preparation area, showing no intention of following the KRS team onto the field.
"Do we, who can't even turn in place properly, really want to compete in the match?" Zi Qian stared gloomily at the field. "Going into a competition unprepared is not only disrespectful to ourselves and our opponents, but also disrespectful to the competition itself."
Every time the word "competition" comes up, I feel Zi Qian becomes especially intense. Could it be because he's an athlete with a strong competitive spirit, making him more sensitive to the word "competition"?
"We probably don't need to participate in the competition," Xin Hui said, standing up and activating her lightsaber. She pointed it towards the field and said, "That person should be Iu Wei Syuen. This must be the second-stage Boss battle area."
A male NPC in the KRS's dark green uniform, with an additional cape, strode onto the field holding the KRS flag with heroic bearing. His pitch-black, deep-set eyes projected pride and confidence.
"Chairman Iu, go for it!"
"Chairman Iu,you're the champion!"
Many NPCs off the field cheered for Wei Syuen.
After saluting the uniformed judges in front, Wei Syuen waved his flag and gave a command. A group of robots suddenly appeared behind him. They looked almost identical to the robots that attacked us earlier, only now clad in full armor matching Wei syuen's dark green uniform.
Following Wei Syuen's commands, the robots began a synchronized precision drill performance.
The KRS robots on the field finally formed a 'V' shape. Wei Syuen then raised his flag high and shouted to the sky: "I, Iu Wei Syuen, am the strongest, even without practice!"
As Wei Syuen waved his flag, a strong wind suddenly swept across the sky. The other NPCs and robots instantly disappeared, leaving only Wei Syuen standing there alone.
We readied our lightsabers and stepped onto the field.
"Do you think you can improve by mindlessly repeating the same practice?" Wei Syuen shook his head. "That's a fool's way of thinking. I'm quick-witted, I have a good memory, why should I practice so hard?"
