I looked at the top left of my screen; my HP had only decreased a tiny bit, so I shook my head at Zi Qian.
"What's your plan next?" I asked, seeing they didn't reply, and suggested, "His HP is almost gone. Should we just charge forward and attack him aggressively?"
"That's too risky," Xin Hui shook her head. "Although this guy's defense is weak, his attack power is very strong. One careless move and we could be killed. Moreover, after his health bar turns red, he'll enter a frenzied state and might change his attack pattern. For now, we focus on defense, only attacking when we have an opportunity. Once his health bar turns red, we immediately back off, the farther the better."
Wei Syuen assumed a stance in place, and whenever we got close, he would swing his spear. His long spear had a very wide attack range, whereas the lightsaber's attack range was much smaller in comparison. If we didn't get close enough, the lightsaber couldn't touch him at all.
We adopted a defensive offense, maintaining a certain distance from Wei Syuen. Several times, his orange-red spearhead swept menacingly among the three of us, each time we barely managed to dodge it. After dozens of exchanges, I found an opening and slashed at him fiercely several times, then hit him with another Spinning Slash.
Wei Syuen's health bar had already turned red. After retreating a few steps, he glared at me with a ferocious expression and let out an even more terrifying roar.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed my left wrist and pulled me back. I turned my head and heard Xin Hui say, "Keep your distance from him first. We don't know what moves he'll use next."
We waited for a long time behind him, but Wei Syuen still showed little movement, so they sent me, the highest-level one, to test the waters.
"Remember, once Wei Syuen attacks, retreat immediately," Zi Qian kindly reminded me.
"Got it,you've repeated that three times now," I said, somewhat impatiently.
This time, it was Wei Syuen who put distance between us. Every time I took a few steps towards him, he retreated a few steps.
I usually don't think or plan too much when playing games; I simply enjoy the thrill and excitement, mostly attacking by instinct. So, regardless of what Xin Hui and Zi Qian were saying behind me, I just ran with all my might towards Wei Syuen.
Wei Syuen suddenly retreated far back, assuming a stance with both hands gripping the spear pointed at me. The orange-red glow at the spear's tip instantly disappeared, but two crescent-shaped blades suddenly appeared on either side of the spearhead.
With a shout from Wei Syuen, the vanished orange-red light reappeared, rapidly gathering on the three edges of the spearhead. Wei Syuen thrust his spear forcefully into the air in my direction, and three orange-red, bullet-like streaks of light shot towards me.
I suddenly remembered the Assistant Discipline Teacher's earlier words, "A spear is a gun, a fire gun is also a gun." So his ultimate move after entering a frenzy is to fire bullets.
The three bullets followed different trajectories. I sidestepped to dodge the first one, used my lightsaber to knock away another, but simply couldn't avoid the third one, which hit my left shoulder. My HP dropped significantly at once, though it was still in the green range.
Wei Syuen proceeded to fire many more bullets at me. I dodged when I could, blocked when possible, and took the hits when I really couldn't avoid them, all while continuously charging towards him.
Wei Syuen's energy bullet attack was very powerful. After taking several hits, my HP had already dropped by one-third.
"Wang Wu yi, retreat now!"
I heard Zi Qian's voice from behind, replied with "Trust me, I can do this," and continued rushing towards Wei Syuen.
After dodging a few more bullets, I finally got close to Wei Syuen this time. As soon as I closed in on him, he stopped firing energy bullets and instead began swinging his spear to fend me off.
"...A long spear cannot attack from a distance, a fire gun cannot fire bullets at close range." I suddenly remembered the latter part of the Assistant Discipline Teacher's words. So that's what his poetic hint meant.
Based on my experience in War Simulation, when facing an opponent like Wei Syuen who uses a long spear with a wide frontal attack range, the best strategy is to attack from behind.
I didn't dodge Wei Syuen's spear at all and instead engaged him in a speed-based frontal duel.
