Summer could hardly believe his words. This was the same man who had once forced her to sign the divorce papers. It was he who no longer wanted her as his wife, who had humiliated her in public and accused her of infidelity.
Hearing him now claim that she was the only woman he wanted as his wife felt almost absurd.
"Believe me," he said again. "Every word I've spoken is the truth."
"The truth?" Summer could no longer hold back. "You were the one who cut me off. You were the one who didn't want me as your wife anymore." Her voice trembled. "You forced me to sign those divorce papers."
"I regret it. I truly do."
Summer let out a bitter laugh and turned her face away.
"I was told you were cheating on me," he continued. "Someone sent me photographs of you entering a hotel with another man."
"What?" Summer was stunned. She couldn't believe he had trusted such fabricated evidence.
