Synopsis
The life of a manager is never easy, especially if the artists you are managing have a knack for getting into trouble with the media. Adding an unwanted husband to this mixture would surely bring nothing but chaos into her already hectic life Therefore, Demi, a pragmatic young lady, knew that rather than crying over her problems, it was better to find a quick solution. When a sudden marriage proposal landed on her lap, she knew that she had to do her best to avoid finding herself in a troublesome situation. Thankfully, the man chosen by the elders seemed to disagree with these arrangements just as much as she did. Contract marriages were quite common in their social circles so when Demi proposed a contract engagement instead, the man readily agreed. For two years now, they had pretended to be a loving pair while meeting their relatives yet could not stand each other when they were alone. The perfect couple aura around them was nothing but a calculated move, an act to please them. Now as the end of the contract comes closer, Demi was worried how her elders would react. Will they accept that her engagement was nothing but a sham? Will she be able to cope with the guilt that she had tricked her favorite elder? However, more than these thoughts, what worried her the most was the unexpected change in the man's behavior towards her and their engagement. "What if I say this engagement cannot end this way?" The man who had cornered her, whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her sensitive spine. Unsure of how to respond, Demi could only look into those dark eyes which were now staring right back at her. Why did he seem so reluctant to put an end to this pretense when he was the one who had personally drafted their contract in the first place? Will Demi be able to peacefully break off this engagement when the contract ends? Or will that man hold onto her so that she never escapes his clutches?

Chapter 1 - Break Up!

"Break off your engagement right now!"

These words echoed in the room over the loud music, stunning everyone in their seats as they stared at the person who had appeared out of nowhere.

Not too long ago, a group of six individuals were having the time of their lives inside the private room of the most popular club in town.

It had already been a couple of hours since they had arrived here and the tables were now filled with empty bottles of liquor scattered all over.

The room had a hazy tint of smoke surrounding them and the dim lighting there only made the atmosphere seem ambiguous.

The only woman in this group sat right at the centre while the rest of the men were seated all around her.

One of the men was busy smoking to the side, another was playing on his phone, two others whispering amongst themselves whereas the last man sat close to the woman, striking up a conversation with her.

However, her attention was elsewhere as she sat with her head resting on the couch as though she was not a part of this group.

Regardless, the man continued speaking to her because he knew that she was paying attention to what he had to say despite her lazy appearance.

"Should we head back?" The young man whispered in her ear at the end of his monologue, making her open her eyes.

"Hmm"

Sitting up straight she turned her bloodshot eyes in his direction and nodded as she had drunk a little too much today and would much rather be fast asleep in bed right now than continue staying in this club.

"Alright guys, time to head back!" Jamie, the man who had suggested to leave, announced which resulted in immediate booing from the men in the room.

"Weren't we planning to drink till we can't stand anymore!" One of them objected and received nods from another.

However, only these two men were interested in drinking more as the other two were more than willing to leave as soon as Jamie had spoken out.

It was understandable that the first pair was reluctant to leave, after all, tonight was meant to celebrate a special occasion and the woman with them had announced that the drinks were on her so they had no reason to head back early and miss this rare chance to drink to their heart's desire.

"Look at Sister Demi's red eyes and say you wanna continue drinking!" The youngest of the group, who had been playing with his phone all along, puffed his chest out and challenged those men who were unwilling to put an end to their drinking.

Hearing this, everyone turned their attention to the only woman in the room named Demi and sighed upon noticing the exhaustion that was quite evident in her eyes.

They knew better than anyone else just how much Demi had been working hard for their sake, especially in the last few days.

They also knew that for their sake, she had come here to celebrate with them though she would prefer to be asleep in her bed right now.

Hence they did not argue further and decided that it was time to end their celebration for tonight and head back home with her.

Demi smiled gratefully at the youngest named Devon and then announced that they can continue their celebrations once they head back which brought a round of cheers from the men who were initially reluctant to leave.

After all, the group lived together so they could just resume their festivities after heading back home while Demi could just rest in her room.

Having decided what they would do next, the group prepared to leave and Demi paid the bill just as she had promised to do so at the beginning of the night.

The owner of the club was grinning from ear to ear when he brought the bill in and watched how the woman pulled out her card to pay for the entire group.

He had personally come to greet the people in this room after he was told how much they had spent here tonight since anyone who spends such a large amount deserves to be respected in his eyes.

Therefore, he studied her face and vowed to keep an eye on her when she returned in the future so that he could make sure that their establishment served this wealthy patron well and not let her have a bad impression about his club.

'Deep wallets are the best!' His eyes sparkled at her as he bowed his head after the transaction was completed and left the room in haste to check how much profit he had made tonight thanks to her patronage.

What he did not know was that soon after he had left, someone else had entered that same room which caused Demi to have a terrible impression of this establishment and its service.

Just as the group was preparing to leave, the door of their private room was pushed open with great force and a figure appeared at the entrance of the room.

"You! Do you have no shame?" The first words coming out of the intruder's mouth stopped whatever they were doing as they turned towards the door.

With high heels clicking on the marbled floor, a woman in a tight black dress that exposed her thighs walked into their private room.

She slowly scanned the room and noticing that there were only men around her opponent, she sneered in disgust before shaking her head.

"Drinking alone with so many men and you dare to cling onto my Brother!" She sneered with her finger pointing straight at Demi's nose.

"Break off your engagement right now!" She demanded with a fierce glare forming on her face.

Everyone's eyes snapped wide open when these words were uttered in the now silent room.

"If you want to mess around with these men then feel free to do so..." She suggested magnanimously while letting out a sigh.

By now, Demi had sat up straight and was staring right at the finger that was pointing in her direction.

"But at least break off your engagement before you stoop so low to cheat on your fiance!" The woman went on without letting the other person come up with a response.

The rest present in the room were stunned speechless at her outburst and soon alternated their gazes between Demi and the newcomer who had come in throwing accusations out of nowhere.

"He does not love you anyway so break up!" She finally yelled at the only other woman in the room as she stared daggers at her.
