Huh, so this is a Wyvern. They're a Critical Level species, evolved from Dragonoids, and they come in several variations.
This one's a Water Wyvern, and there's also Fire Wyverns, Wind Wyverns, Frost Wyverns and Lightning Wyverns.
This one was covered in aqua-blue scales, its wings grew out from where arms, or front legs, would normally be, with sharp, curved claws at the end of its wings.
It had webbed toes, with a long, foldable dorsal fin on its back, a webbed fan-like fin at the end of its tail, and pointy, long horns on either side of its head.
Suddenly, it snapped open its jaws and unleashing a devastating jet burst of water towards us from its mouth, before I swiftly stepped forward and activated Ravage, expanding the jaws and swallowing up the blast of water, the jaws of white energy just barely wide enough.
Hm, based on the feel of this, both Devour and Drain should work in swallowing up these water attacks.
I then drew out my gun and fired out a Pulse Bullet at it, a barrage of arrows and lightning bolts shooting out towards it from behind me at the same time.
The Wyvern unleashed a pressurized burst of water from its jaws as our attacks closed on, blowing them away before swiftly ducking back into the water, right as a barrage of rapid, piercing water projectiles came shooting out through the water's surface.
"Get behind me!" I exclaimed as I raised Drain up, expanding the jaws as wide as possible and swallowing up the projectiles that were heading straight towards me, while the rest peppered the area on either side of me, tearing the ground apart.
"Should I blast the water again?!" Called out Elicia, as the barrage ceased.
"No, it didn't seem like it had much of an effect besides piss that thing off. You guys get back down to the forty-ninth floor, I'll deal with this myself!" I responded, before quickly raising Drain in front of myself as a pressurized, piercing beam of water came shooting out of the lake with immense speed, just barely consuming it in time.
If I'd reacted just a fraction of a second later, that would've burst straight through my chest and out my back.
"Huh? We can't just leave you-...!" Elicia began in protest.
"Yes, we can. We're in the way, he can't fight that thing while protecting us at the same time. Come on, let's go, quickly," Lector urged the others.
Glad he figured it out...would've been pretty awkward to tell them myself that they're holding me back.
"Good luck, Kai!"
"You've got this, man!"
"We'll be waiting for you, see you soon."
Another piercing jet of water came shooting out of the lake, but whipping across instead of coming straight this time.
I swiftly got down on the ground, the beam shooting past the top of my head as I ducked under it, before springing back onto my feet and narrowing my gaze as I spotted the glimmer of the Wyvern's eyes peeking through the surface of the lake, before chanting...
"
The dark purple energy erupted around me, swirling intensely as I felt the aggressive, volatile emotions surging inside me, growing more and more intense, my mind briefly blanking as the sensation overwhelmed me...before the flood of emotions stilled, that sense of eerie calm returning.
Ripples spread out across the surface of the lake as the Wyvern shrunk back, submerging itself deeper in the water.
Hm, is it afraid? Good. It should be.
Now, then...Command likely won't hold it down for much longer, and that lake is a problem, it'll be troublesome to fight it like this. In which case...I'll get rid of the lake.
"
I mixed Devour and Drain, combining them together more and more, until I generated a black hole, which exerted a powerful gravitational force, the trees in the area rustling as they began to get drawn in.
I dunked the black hole into the lake, draining the water rapidly, the surface sinking down lower and lower, the Wyvern's heading coming into sight right as it broken free of the effect of Command.
It snarled as it backed away, half its body now visible as I continued sucking up the water with Void, the Monster digging its feet into the ground as it resisted the pulling force of my Skill.
It wasn't much longer before the lake was completely drained, nothing but a sludgy mass of mud left.
As I deactivated Void, I swiftly raced across as the Wyvern unleashed a swirling sphere of water towards me, crashing onto the ground where I'd been standing, before I drew out my gun and fired out a Pulse Bullet at it.
It spread out its wings and shot up into the air, snarling as the Pulse Bullet struck its left leg, which stiffened slightly and trembled, before the Monster swung open its jaws and fired out an intense, crushing blast of water towards me.
"
A loud crash rang out as I raced away and evaded it, the Wyvern's feet slamming onto the ground with immense force, the entire space rumbling upon impact, before I took aim at its side with my gun and fired out another Pulse Bullet.
The Monster snarled as my bullet struck it, the spot I hit twitching slightly as the Wyvern snapped its head across in my direction and unleashing a devastating wave of water towards me.
I manifested and expanded Drain in front of myself, swallowing up the water shooting towards me, torrential streams roaring across the ground on either side of me, the attack too wide for Drain to fully consume.
"I think I have a good idea of what you're capable of now," I remarked as the Monster shot towards me, before chanting as it leapt forward as it closed in, "
A dazed look appeared in its eyes as the effects of my debuffs set it, before it stiffened as I shot towards it at full speed, springing towards it as I closed in and slashed at the right side of its neck with Desecrator, a spray of blood bursting out as I sliced through its scales.
My feet skidded across the ground as I shot past it, before spinning around as it roared furiously, an intense mass of water swirling in its mouth as blood streamed down the side of its neck.
Hm, that was too shallow, a short-sword doesn't cut deep enough to seriously injure a Monster of this size, and the Pulse Bullets aren't all that effective either.
I'll need to try out some different options...
