Detective James had spoken to the director of police at the police headquarters that morning, and he only responded by saying that those cases were not considered to be serious, and that was why they were tossed aside. Meanwhile, this was the same case that he had just gotten to know now and was already putting it as an emergency.
" How can you say that those cases were not important? People's lives are in danger now because we refuse to look into this case when we had to. How do you explain this D. P. O?" James asked him, waiting to hear what his response would be.
" Detective, I am sure that you know that not all cases are as serious as they seem, especially when a case that was reported was later announced by the same people who reported the case to be unreal. We add no reason to push forward with these cases, as each reported case was later confirmed to be unreal. You cannot blame it on us that a new case has been reported, and I assure you that if you give it a little time you'll realize that this is not worth your strength" He said to James, hoping that he would be able to convince James to get his mind off that case and face something else.
However, James experienced the weirdness when he found Sophia at that scene that night. He was still studying the case after Sofia reported one of her clients to be in trouble, and then he tried to reach her again but could not.
He was a detective who understood when things were wrong; hence, he began tracking Sofia's device, which meant only bringing her to a destination that was so mysterious and strange.
He found Sophia in a state of disarray and was able to save her, but his curiosity was only more aroused and determination .
He was curious to know why she would leave her house and go to such a secret place only to find herself in an unpleasant condition.
" This is not just about your clients, Sophia. A lot of other cases were reported by people similar to your client, and I am curious to know what's happened to these people, too, as they seem to have abandoned the case halfway." James said to Sophia.
Sophia, who was confused about what he was talking about, could not help but ask for clarification.
" I am sorry, but what do you mean by leaving the case undone? " She asked him, as though those words made her interested in knowing what was going on.
" I spoke to the director of police here at the headquarters this morning, and he mentioned something about the people who reported the case later abandoning it halfway, and they could not take it so seriously. Even though this is not a good enough reason for the police to abandon these cases when they come in more than once, I still think that there is something we should be talking about aside from the cases that were already reported," James said.
Sophia felt goosebumps on her skin as she listened to James say all of those things. It was strange to hear such a thing, especially in this modernized world where every case always had a way of being solved. This case sounded too mysterious to be real and her pity for Emma increased.
However, James had just said something, and she wanted to know better what he was talking about.
" James, I have a few clients to meet with before I round off for the day, but then I would like us to talk about this point you just made. If you think there is something else we should be talking about apart from the case, then we should talk about it over dinner," she said to him.
James, who also had a task to attend to, agreed without delay. Both of them had come a long way and had been working together for quite a long time in their respective careers.
Sophia was making waves in her psychology career while James was climbing the ladder as a detective in the city.
There is a main series of cases where they walk hand in hand to find a solution and neither of them has been disappointed in each other. This was the same reason James was the only one that Sophia could trust to help save her clients from whatever it was she was going through.
It was still ambiguous to Sophia how such strange things could be happening in this contemporary world, but then she was not going to let her doubts come in the way of saving a young girl who desperately needed help.
When the call ended, Sofia spent her time with her clients who were already around to see her, and just as she was done with the last clients for the day, she packed up her bag and booked a reservation at a restaurant downtown.
After the reservation was made, she texted James the address and left her office for the place.
James had taken a team of younger detectives who were under his training to the location where he found Sophia that night, and they were investigating to see if they would find something that would give them a lead.
It was while he was at this that Sophia's call came that evening. It was early evening, and one could still mistake it for noon, especially him, who had been walking around the clock all day without looking out for the time.
" Hey, Dr Petal" he called out to her when he picked up the phone, addressing her by her last name, which he usually does.
" I just sent you a text, James, and I realized that it had not been read since the moment I sent it. That is the location for our meeting this evening, I hope you are not too busy?" she asked him.
