Chapter 13 - Mission Impossible

"How did you overhear what I was saying? This is not real. I muttered in my lowest tone." George became alarmed.

By that time, George was already feeling guilty about teaching Tony to be discerning.

George did not even anticipate the things Tony does now.

"How about you stop by so we can talk about this? I would prefer not to talk to you on the phone about this." George recommended.

Tony grew increasingly suspicious of his suggestion. "You are against us talking on the phone about this? What is the reason behind my suspicion that Conor is involved?"

"How dare you make such a charge against your brother?" George snapped.

He took responsibility for Conor's situation, but he did not think twice about standing up for him.

"He is not the smartest, even though he is your oldest son," Tony said crazily on the phone.

George could not stand the volume of his voice any longer.

To stop hearing from Tony, he removed the phone from his ear.

It was not operating. Even though the phone was far from his ears, he could still hear Tony's tirade.

When George realized the strategy was failing, he became enraged and hung up.

Even though his ward was conducive, he had sweat on his forehead and palms.

They kept swarming in, and the call never stopped.

George was confused about what to do and became so frustrated that he turned off his phone.

He would rather not turn off the phone because he knew Kelly would probably call to give him an update on his meeting with Conor.

Regretfully, he had no other option.

Tony put more pressure on him than Conor did.

George sighed, "I never once thought I would ever get off the damn phone with him."

He was lying in bed, about to fall asleep, when he had an idea that made him throw himself off the bed once more.

"What if I get a call from Kelly again asking for more details?" George reasoned, "He also thought about Tony not returning his call.

It was after much consideration that he concluded. "I am going to just turn the phone off, I think. Tony will not get in touch with me ever again.

At last, George switched his phone off.

He waited and gazed at his phone like a patient dog. Tony would never call back, he hoped.

George's wishes were fulfilled somehow. Tony did not give a call or send a text.

For George, it meant that Tony's problems were over.

George's joy was short-lived, though, as he was compelled to act when a familiar face appeared in the ward again.

He was surprised by the sharp rise in his blood pressure. He wished he could just open up and be swallowed by the earth.

"What are you doing in this place?

I assumed we had finished discussing it." George asked.

Fear wandered like a stray hen across his face. And the last person he expected to return was this one.

He did not realize it was so frightening. Without having to discuss it, he wanted the person to leave right away.

At George's mansion.

Kelly stood at the doorway's entrance, still rooted in his fear, thinking about what to do. "Am I doing something really wrong? Maybe Katrina had a point. I am not supposed to be here."

He struggled to make a simple decision because his mind was racing with a thousand ideas.

"I simply must complete this.

I promised George already." Kelly's muttering was concise.

He had to make a difficult choice because he knew it would have an impact on his daughter.

Kelly gently knocked on the door as his heart beat fast.

"Who is there?" A male voice inquired.

It sounded so deep that Kelly wanted to flee in terror. Kelly had not met the person behind the voice yet, but he was bracing for a terrifying encounter.

He knocked on the door yet again.

He had no idea what he was doing because he was under so much pressure.

To his surprise, someone who looked very similar to George stepped outside shirtless.

He, too, was sweaty. It was George's arrogant son, Conor.

"Hi. You are sweaty."

Kelly mumbled frantically. He was not aware of what he was saying.

"Because I do not remember inviting you here," Conor smirked.

He slammed the door when he noticed Kelly was trying to peek inside.

"You have not answered my question

Why are you here? Did my father send you?" Conor repeated his question.

He never stopped asking questions. He was so prepared, as if he knew Kelly was coming.

"Where are you, Baby?

I have been waiting for you here.

What is taking so long to get back to the bedroom?" Conor heard a female voice speaking from the living room.

Kelly turned away

He would rather not get involved in Conor's drama.

All he ever thought about was getting Conor to the hospital.

He does not mind if Conor decides to have sex with all the girls in the world.

"Give me a moment.

I will be with you shortly, "Connor assured his secret lover.

He had already decided that Kelly would not discuss something important.

"Are you all alone?" Kelly asked.

He wanted to dismiss it, but desperation was killing him.

He could not keep the question to himself for long due to his troubled heart.

"Stay out of my business for good.

Stop pretending to care. I recognize a hypocrite when I see one," Conor exclaimed.

He wanted to end the conversation right away, but he had no idea how to do so.

" I am not going to lie about something like that," Kelly began. He kept skirting the issue instead of addressing it directly.

" "If I had known you were going to act this way, I would have slammed the door against you," Conor said.

His physical presence was with Kelly, but his mind and soul were with his mysterious lover, who waited for him inside the house.

"It is about your father,"

Kelly finally took a turn.

He quickly takes advantage of the fleeting confidence that surrounds him.

When his father's name was mentioned, Conor returned his focus to Kelly. "How about my father?"

Kelly was salivating.

The words were too ambiguous to emerge from his mouth.

Conor became furious.

Kelly's refusal to move his lips, not just his silence, frightened him.

Kelly's mouth appears to be sealed shut.

As Conor sought a means to obtain the much-needed information from Kelly, his mystery lover dashed outside, dressed and ready to leave.

"Please do not leave yet."

Conor begged Anita to stay with him, preventing his mystery from leaving.

He nearly fell to his knees to show how much he wanted her to stay.

However, his ego stopped him from doing so. He could not afford to lose Anita due to Kelly's interference.

Conor will not only be angry with Kelly, but he may also do something stupid that will land him in jail for the rest of his life.
