Vivian's POV
Liam's gaze never wavered from mine as his finger pressed the end call button with deliberate force.
For a heartbeat, I wondered if he had somehow overheard the entire conversation.
The phone hadn't been on speaker, making it impossible for him to catch Ryan's words from across the room.
Yet the expression carved into his features told me he'd absorbed enough from my responses to piece together exactly who had been on the other end of that call.
His jaw locked tight, hands curling into fists at his sides. Those dark eyes dropped to examine the device still gripped in his palm.
The look on his face transcended simple anger.
This was fury in its rawest form, something primal and uncontrolled. I had never witnessed this side of him before, and the intensity made my stomach clench with unease.
I pressed myself backward against the desk until the edge bit into my spine. Another inch and the wood might as well swallow me whole.
