Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Capsule

While King Frost kept to his thoughts, the surrounding laboratory could be seen. Most other pods were either out of date, damaged, or destroyed. The laboratory itself appeared bleak and grim, not showing much vitality left to it. It was a miracle that it was still in use.

King Frost then looked at the small figure floating inside the one capsule that still stood. His face grimaced. Inside was a Frost Demon, but one still in its infancy. It wasn't big, and the infant Frost Demon still had its eyes closed. Unbeknownst to King Frost, the little Frost Demon's thoughts were very much wide awake. Not only that, it managed to follow along the entire conversation that King Frost shared with the scientist. The Frost Demon even managed to pick up a few key words while the two conversed with each other.

'Frost Demons...The Cold Force...King Cold...The Frost Clan...Cooler...Frieza...and Boreas...', The consciousness stirred. 'Is Boreas supposed to be my name now?', Boreas questioned, wondering if that was indeed the case. For now, that's what he will call himself, rather than a nameless thought bubble. The only bad thing was, Boreas had zero recollection of what happened to him before he was able to gather his thoughts again. He didn't think that he'd become a Frost Demon!

It appeared like his life started anew!

It's a shame that Boreas couldn't remember what previously happened to him. That remained to be seen. For now, he could only idly pass time inside his thought bubble, waiting for the sands of time to churn. He didn't know how long it would take before he could open his eyes again.

It was then Boreas heard King Frost continue speaking, which caused his current train of thought to end. He paid close attention, not wanting to miss any details.

"That very well be for the best. Recall any of our soldiers lurking around the ocean's edges. By the time they find this lab, we will have been long gone. I personally think they will kill each other, every last one of them.", King Frost commanded, looking toward the scientist Frost Demon beside him. "That way, we can live out the remainder of what we have left in peace. I am tired of fighting."

"At your command, My Liege.", The scientist Frost demon replied, giving him a respectful salute. But King Frost didn't stop there. He kept his hand on the pod's surface, feeling it's cold touch. A look of determination appeared in his eyes.

"And go retrieve our last pod. If somehow, the Cold Force survives this and discovers this lab, they will likely attempt to hunt Boreas down. It shouldn't be hard for Boreas here to survive the depths of our waters. His body should already be able to withstand most of the ocean's pressure, even in infancy.", King Frost said, his eyes turning serious.

"My Liege, you don't mean...", The scientist tried to say, revealing a raised eye. He then saw King Frost look directly at him while taking his hand off the pod.

"At an undisclosed location, toss our last pod into the waters. Should Boreas be lucky enough, he will be able to regroup with us, and take command of whatever soldiers we have left. Do not engage with the Cold Force. It may be for the best to retreat off Planet Zero altogether, unless those bastards find us first.", King Frost declared. Seeing his seriousness, the Frost Demon saluted again.

"At once, My liege!", The scientist Frost Demon responded, his voice echoing around the laboratory. Apart from the faint hum of dying machinery, everything else felt cold. There were barely any signs of life remaining in this place.

After King Frost issued what would likely be his last decree, the infant Frost Demon residing in the capsule had his thoughts stir again. He wanted to frown at those words, but he couldn't even move his lips yet. It was as if the growth serum had sealed his movements.

'All of this sounds familiar...', Boreas thought. 'They're seriously not going to throw me out like that, are they? But with the way things stand, it sounds pretty grimacing...', Boreas continued to think, unsure of how to interpret this situation he now found himself in. It's a shame he couldn't move yet, otherwise he'd try to find out more. He could only wait for what was going to happen to him.

Being tossed into an ocean that he didn't know about. At the very least, it sounds like he'll be able to survive this. He was given a body that had already adapted to ocean waters. Just knowing that alone made him interested.

But it did confirm one thing. A life anew.

Right now, he had no control over his body, so he could only leave what is going to happen next up to fate. The voices said they could live inside the ocean waters. If he was the same, then he could too. He wasn't too worried. What worried him more was this "Cold Force", and whether or not they would chase them into the waters. And for whatever reason, it gave him a weird sense of familiarity. It was like he knew these Frost Demons, even though he couldn't see what they looked like.

For now, Boreas could only assume this new identity. This new life.

A new life, as a Frost Demon.

As to what these Frost Demons did, or how they lived by, Boreas did not know. All Boreas felt at the present time was a sense of tranquility, likely thanks to the growth serum that was surrounding his body. It acted like it was cradling him. And yet, at the same time, Boreas was growing sturdier.

After confirming the new command, King Frost looked at the scientist again, and sighed.

"Perhaps our two clans have been at war with each other for far too long.", King Frost said, sighing again. He glanced his eyes back toward the growth capsule, and observed Boreas. "It is already enough that we survived the God of Destruction at a whim. Young lad, try your best out there. Do not be consumed by hate. Live your own life. Keep growing stronger so no one can tell you what to do. Strength is supreme here. Even if you live on your own, someone, or something will eventually catch up to you. It is only a matter of when.", King Frost said, acting like he had experienced this himself. His expression remained somber.

"My Liege...", The scientist tried to say, but didn't have a response for that. He just turned silent for a moment.

"Go. You have your orders.", King Frost said, cutting the scientist off. Raising his other arm, he pointed one of his fingers out. His index finger began to glow a bright, azure-blue as if it was the ocean itself. His eyes looked very serious. "And if you refuse this, I will strike you down here and now."

"At once, My Liege!", The Frost Demon exclaimed, not wanting to anger King Frost.

He could only do what he was told, and so, he did.

The Frost Demon grabbed the growth capsule, and dismissed himself from the laboratory, quickly flying out of it, and left the leader of the Frost Clan to his own devices...
