Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Magical Competition

"Summoning Magic?" Mira was slightly surprised.

"Yes," Ezreal nodded, then said, "Yesterday, when I was looking through books, I saw a record about Summoning Magic, and I'm very interested."

Laki, who had just returned from delivering meals, also leaned in and said, "There are many types of Summoning Magic, and they are quite special. Compared to other magic, they rely heavily on personal talent."

Mira nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, most Summoning Magic requires the Mage to have innate spatial talent, or to cultivate spatial talent using magic potions. Theoretically, as long as one can stably perceive spatial coordinates and learn to open and close the Summoning Gate, they have completely mastered Summoning Magic."

"How strong they become later depends entirely on what kind of otherworldly creatures the Mage's own magic power can summon."

"I understand. Although it's a magic that's hard to learn but easy to master, I really need it." Ezreal had already learned what Mira said from books yesterday, but he had a reason why he had to learn it.

Most Mages in the Fairy Tail world follow the normal spellcaster route, standing at a distance and casting spells, but the top combatants basically all follow the close-combat Mage route.

The Black Dragon Acnologia and the Black Wizard Zeref, the two big bosses, also cast some long-range spells and then engage in close combat.

In this world, fights are usually 1v1 unless it's a boss battle. Ezreal's fragile body might be fine in the early plot, where he can just throw spells from a distance and get by.

But in the mid-to-late stages, when fighting demons and dragons, he would probably be instantly killed if he was even grazed.

The world of Fairy Tail does not have a mechanism for infinite resurrection after death.

In a game, if you make a mistake in positioning and get killed, you can respawn and try again.

In this world, there is absolutely no room for error. Die once, and Ezreal's journey to another world is over.

To improve his survival rate, Ezreal decided to first learn Summoning Magic, relying on summoned creatures to fight, while he himself hid in a safe position and used long-range spells to get assists.

"Huh?"

"Hasn't Ezreal learned magic yet?"

Mira and Laki exchanged glances, both a little surprised.

When Makarov brought Ezreal back to the guild, to avoid unnecessary trouble, he did not mention his origin.

Most other guild members had either tragic or heavy pasts, so they were very restrained with each other and rarely asked about each other's past.

Unless someone voluntarily spoke about it, their companions would not impolitely ask too many questions.

And Ezreal had only been in front of his guild companions for a grand total of two days, and hadn't had time to talk much.

Therefore, everyone knew nothing about Ezreal's information, only that he was another companion picked up by the Master.

"I know a little magic," Ezreal waved his hand and explained, "As for Summoning Magic, it's a hobby, I personally like Summoning Magic very much, and if I can learn it, it will be very helpful to me."

"So that's it, I understand. But there are many types of Summoning Magic, have you decided which one you want to learn?" Mira asked after hearing Ezreal's explanation.

"Anyway, every kind is so difficult. If you don't have talent, improving your physique by taking magic potions is also very painful," Laki grumbled with a pout.

"That's the problem. There are too many types of Summoning Magic, and I hope someone can recommend one for me, or give me some reference suggestions." Ezreal spread his hands, looking a little helpless, but continued firmly, "Even if I don't have talent, I will definitely learn it by taking magic potions to change my physique."

"Have you already made such a resolution?" Mira looked at Ezreal's serious expression, a apologetic smile on her face.

"But I'm really sorry, I don't know much about Summoning Magic, so I can't help you."

"Ah, it's fine. I'll read more books these two days, and just ask the Master when he gets back." Ezreal didn't mind, looking at Mira and Laki, he continued.

"Actually, besides the Summoning Magic issue, there's one more thing."

"Does our guild have a special place to practice magic? I want to go practice by myself in my free time."

"Yes, behind the guild there's a lake and a large grassy area where everyone occasionally goes to practice magic." Mira pointed Ezreal to the back door of the guild, then exchanged glances with Laki and smiled mischievously.

"You can find a companion in the guild to practice with you. Most of the time, these troublemakers in the guild practice magic by fighting here," Laki said with a laugh.

"Practice what magic?"

A man in a purple suit with a green bowl cut appeared at the counter, interrupting their conversation.

"Hi Ezreal, Mira, Laki, what are you talking about? Can I listen? Can I? Can I? And two more drinks, put it on my tab! Thanks!" The man with the green bowl cut leaned his upper body over the counter, supporting himself with both hands, and moved closer to the three of them.

"Hi Marcus. You look a lot more energetic than yesterday!" Ezreal greeted Marcus happily, and handed him two drinks.

When he first arrived at the guild, besides some of the main characters and important supporting characters, this was the person who chatted with him the most, but when he saw him last night, he was already passed out on the table.

This overly enthusiastic guy was a supporting character in the original Fairy Tail, who used "Sand Dust" magic, which allowed him to control sand.

His magic had good potential, but his personal development was mediocre, and his character was portrayed as rather ordinary in the original story, making him a somewhat powerful but marginal character.

Enthusiastic, talkative, otherwise a very ordinary person.

But Ezreal found such a person easy to get along with, at least safer than Natsu, who constantly broke things, and better than Gray, who stripped anywhere, leading to public humiliation.

"Because I haven't had a drink yet today, I'm energetic." Marcus took the glass and chugged a drink.

"Marcus's alcohol tolerance is very poor; two drinks make him tipsy, three drinks knock him out. I've never seen him finish a fourth drink ~" Laki mercilessly quipped from the side.

"Ah, so he was drunk yesterday..." Ezreal was shocked! No wonder the guild was so noisy at night, and Marcus could still sleep with snot bubbles.

"Laki, Ezreal..." Marcus instantly petrified in embarrassment... "Ezreal wants to practice magic, and we're suggesting he find a companion in the guild." Mira smiled with narrowed eyes, bringing the conversation back.

"Ah ha! Of course, leave this kind of thing to me!" Marcus unfroze, wrapped an arm around Ezreal's neck over the counter, their faces pressed together, and Marcus proudly declared, "I was Ezreal's first friend in the guild!"

I'm shocked, brother!

When did that happen! Why don't I know!

I've only been in the guild for three days! We haven't even chatted for more than two hours in total!

"Ah haha, that's right..." Ezreal's face was almost squashed out of shape. Looking at the light of friendship almost bursting from Marcus's eyes, and Mira and Laki's expressions of "they have such a good relationship," he felt like if he gave a negative answer, he would immediately be condemned for betraying a companion's feelings!

"Leave it to me!" Marcus was moved to tears! He let go of Ezreal, jumped back five meters, and landed directly in the middle of the hall.

"Ezreal, let's have a friendly spar!" Marcus spread his arms out to his sides, his legs in a lunge position, gathering power, and took a stance.

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

Fine yellow sand began to appear out of nowhere, centered around Marcus's feet, forming a slowly rotating sand vortex about knee-high.

"Huh? Now? Here! Why don't we go to the back..." Ezreal was startled. They just started fighting without any hesitation! And seeing how quickly everyone around moved their tables and chairs to clear space, all in one smooth motion, are you guys that skilled!

"It's fine if tables and chairs get broken, just fight freely, but be careful of the customers ~ Go, Ezreal!" Laki directly interrupted Ezreal, clenching her small fists in encouragement.

"It's fine, it'll be a fun show for everyone." Mira had an expression like she enjoyed watching the chaos.

"You guys, oh this..." Ezreal was speechless.

"Who is Marcus fighting?"

"The first match today, hey!"

"Marcus and Ezreal?"

"Hehe! I haven't seen Ezreal fight anyone yet, Natsu, wake up and watch!" Happy grew wings on his back, and his two little paws tugged on Natsu's scarf, straightening his body.

"Two drinks, I bet you'll win, Ezreal!" It was Gray speaking.

"Gray, put on some clothes!"

"This is friendship! What a man!" It was Elfman, who was inexplicably moved.

"Come on, Ezreal!" Marcus challenged again, his eyes sincere.

"Alright, then let's just have a simple spar." Ezreal looked at the guild, which had suddenly become lively. Although he felt it was a bit sudden, he wasn't averse to it. In the enthusiastic atmosphere around him, he also felt a bit eager to try.

Ezreal supported himself with one hand on the table, leaped over, and slightly clenched his left fist, a golden spherical mist of light enveloping his fist.

"Here I come, Ezreal, be careful." Marcus warned, then waved one hand, and the sand vortex on the ground suddenly swelled to a person's height, enveloping him. Dozens of fist-sized sand balls flew out with an ear-splitting whoosh.

As the sand balls approached, Ezreal calmly activated Arcane Shift, his entire body transforming into a human-shaped golden light particle and disappearing from his original spot. The next second, he reappeared at the guild's back door behind Marcus, putting distance between them.

The moment he landed, without any casting motion, an arrow condensed from golden energy automatically tracked and shot straight at Marcus.

Though called an arrow, it actually resembled a golden short spear.

Arcane Arrow—an ability attached to Arcane Shift!

Although the distance created was far, the attack was not slow.

"Boom!" The Arcane Arrow landed on the yellow sand vortex protecting Marcus, causing a strong explosion, with golden light and yellow sand scattering.

With just one strike! Marcus's protective yellow sand vortex was torn apart!

After landing, he didn't stop. His left fist glowed with golden light, and three Sunshine Arrows were thrown by Ezreal, the laser-like golden energy arrows hitting Marcus's back almost instantly.

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

Three explosions like firecrackers echoed in everyone's ears. Before the sound faded, Marcus was already blown away by the impact of the explosion.

The onlookers gasped in surprise!

"Spatial transfer!"

"Teleportation!"

"So Ezreal uses Light Magic? No wonder he's so polite; most people who use Light Magic are polite and gentle." Mira seemed to have found the reason for Ezreal's politeness, as he had received a good education.

"What powerful magic! What a man!" Elfman cheered with raised arms.

"The destructive power doesn't match his appearance at all." Gray intently watched Marcus, who had been blown away. His clothes on his back were already torn open, and three distinct burn marks in a 'pin' shape were clearly visible on his back.

"That's quite a powerful magic, Ezreal." Marcus flipped in mid-air, landed steadily, and grimaced, feeling the burning pain from his back.

"Are you still good?" Ezreal asked with a smile.

"Of course, it's just getting started!" Marcus laughed loudly, then clapped his hands together forcefully.

"Torrent of Yellow Sand"

Centered around Marcus, two waves of yellow sand rose from the ground like ocean waves, surging towards Ezreal. Unoccupied tables and chairs in the path of the sand waves were directly crushed into sawdust and mixed within the sand torrent.

Ezreal was stunned, "You're Gaara, brother? This magic is only for a supporting character? You're on the wrong set!"
