Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Boy and the Cat

Upon seeing the cat trapped in the quicksand, he didn't hesitate for a moment, controlling his consciousness to return to his body.

Ezreal opened his eyes and, facing the white swirling portal in front of him, chanted a spell again: "ל ה י ל ח ם ב ש ב י ל י!"

As his words fell, the white light intensified, and a small figure flew out of the portal, darting straight into Ezreal's embrace.

It was a young magical cat with two golden whiskers on each cheek and sky-blue fur.

Its eyes sparkled with curiosity and wisdom, its fur soft and shiny, as if it had absorbed the color of the sky, while the thick fur around its neck was deep blue, like the deep sea.

On its head grew three golden-green leaves, and behind the central leaf was a tentacle-like green stem, growing right at the top of its head, about the length of a cat's paw, with a blue gem at the bud's position.

The green stem, topped with the sapphire, looked like an antenna on the cat's head, adding a touch of cuteness.

After flying out of the portal, the kitten landed lightly in Ezreal's arms. Her tail gently wrapped around his arm, her body warm and soft, and her sapphire-blue eyes curiously surveyed this new world.

"Looks like a kitten, no spellbook. So it's not Yuumi, just a magical cat of the same species?" Ezreal held the kitten by its armpits with both hands, lifting the little one to examine her closely.

The little one was only about two palms long, delicate and adorable.

"Meow? Master, meow meow meow? Let me meow…" The kitten seemed a bit embarrassed by Ezreal's scrutinizing gaze, twisting her body in protest. The kitten could speak human language, but it seemed a bit rusty, possibly due to her young age.

"You summoned a kitten with magical power? It seems you know the origin of this kitten. She can even talk, looks like she's the same type as Happy. He'd probably be very Happy to know."

Makarov stroked his beard nearby, approaching a bit closer to carefully examine the magical cat. After confirming she wasn't dangerous, he said with a smile.

"Hmm, this is a common type of magical cat in the world I used to live in. As for its purpose, it can probably assist its master in battle."

Ezreal held the kitten and gave a simple explanation.

Although it wasn't Yuumi with her space-traveling spellbook, and it looked a bit small, being of the same species, it probably wouldn't be too far off.

"Meow!" The kitten, whose attention had been entirely on Ezreal, heard Makarov speak and only then noticed a strange old man nearby. She let out a startled cry and buried her head into Ezreal's chest.

Like entering water, the kitten easily merged into Ezreal's chest. When she reappeared, she had transformed into a fist-sized ethereal cat, floating in the air, running back and forth around Ezreal, but always maintaining a distance of about half a meter.

"Hmm…" A bit timid! Ezreal hesitated. This cat, compared to Yuumi, probably wouldn't be much worse… Probably… As the cat possessed him, Ezreal felt a slight enhancement in his physical strength and magic attributes, an increase of about one-twelfth.

Ezreal guessed that it might be related to the cat still being young, and perhaps the amplification would increase as she got older.

"A symbiotic ethereal possession, and some kind of unseen attack-enhancing magic. Truly a good partner." The kitten's actions made Makarov raise an eyebrow. After the cat merged with Ezreal, the increase in magical aura was easily discernible.

Enhancement magic is not easy to learn; in terms of difficulty, it's among the more challenging types of magic. He hadn't expected a cat to possess such an ability.

Furthermore, upon entering the ethereal state, in Makarov's magical perception, this little one's life force and magical aura completely vanished.

Thanks to his 80 years of age and the extensive knowledge of a Ten Wizard Saints.

Makarov immediately saw the key: with such a wondrous ethereal possession effect, as long as the master, Ezreal, did not fall, theoretically, this cat would not be harmed, and the beneficial effects would continue to be provided.

Although she seemed a bit timid, she was surprisingly a very useful partner.

"Don't be afraid, you'll be with me from now on. Do you have a name?" Ezreal looked at the little blue cat flying up and down around him, a gentle smile on his face.

"Meow, no. Everyone calls me Meow Meow, other meows also call me Meow Meow." The kitten leaped, returning to normal size, gave Makarov a wary glance, then landed in Ezreal's arms.

"Then I'll call you Yuumi." Ezreal held the little cat, who weighed about two pounds, feeling a bit strange.

Is this some magic world version of an ADC and support duo?

"Yuumi, meow~" The kitten rubbed her head against Ezreal's palm, indicating satisfaction.

"Besides the possession just now, do you have any other abilities?" Ezreal asked, holding Yuumi and stroking the little one's head.

"Meow, Yuumi does." Yuumi shook her body, then pounced again, merging into Ezreal's body, transforming into the flying ethereal cat state.

"Meow, heal!" A soft, warm, glowing white light emanated from within Ezreal.

Ezreal felt his body noticeably lighten after the white light appeared, and the high tension in his mind from studying magic also eased, with his mental fatigue completely disappearing.

"Hmm, this skill effect is good." Ezreal's eyes lit up. Just increasing attack power isn't enough; indeed, a support needs healing ability to be reliable.

"Meow, shield!" A translucent, pale white, eggshell-shaped shield emerged from within Ezreal, just large enough to envelop his entire body.

Ezreal reached out to touch the shield but passed right through it, which surprised him.

Seeing this, Makarov walked over and reached out to touch the magical shield, but his hand was blocked by the shield, causing it to ripple slightly like water.

His hand, which had touched the shield, swelled slightly and grew larger. He slapped it with force, and the magical shield instantly shattered, disappearing in a flash of white light.

"Not bad, it can probably block small spells of average power." Makarov nodded approvingly, seeming quite satisfied that such a little one could possess such an ability.

OK, it even has a shield, even more reliable! Ezreal silently gave the cat a thumbs up!

"Meow, also, Prowling Projectile~"

With the shield shattered, Yuumi landed on Ezreal's head, a bit annoyed, and glared at Makarov.

A fist-sized golden energy orb flew out from Ezreal's chest, leisurely circled Makarov twice, then dissipated into the air as specks of golden light.

Ezreal was a bit speechless; it really was a Prowling Projectile. Its effect was far inferior to the previous two buff skills.

It was just throwing out a controllable energy orb... It really seemed only good for 'prowling' (slacking off). This skill had no offensive power to speak of, probably something the magical cat species used for fishing.

But it's fine. A support, after all, can heal, provide shields, and give small buffs. That's enough!

Supports who deal damage are cunning villains who steal kills, not worth mentioning!

I'm talking about you guys! Lux! Brand! Veigar! Xerath! Ziggs!...
