Chapter 7: You're kidding me....
[I have no reason to lie... I'm an angel, why would I lie?!]
" Who say's an angel hasn't lied before..."
[....]
[Fair point.] He finally conceded, letting out a sigh.
" Since you're obviously being uncooperative, I'll just give you a name. I think bobblehead has a nice ring to it." I chuckled, trying to distract myself from the growing unease I felt.
[.....] He crossed his arms Infront of his chest while giving me a look.
" What you don't like it?" I snickered, his litte face did a lot when keeping my mind preoccupied.
" Fine, how about Light. Seems like a fitting name since your...you know–"
SQUISH
"...." My body stiffened when I felt my sneakers step on something that was definitely not a twig.
Before I could say anything, I heard a rhythmic sound that was accompanied by the sound of breaking twigs and crunching dried leaves, even the wind seemed to have taken a chilling turn all of a sudden.
[Behind you!]
My ears heard the sound of something flying through the air, instinctively reacting to Lights prompt, I could only think of my body avoiding whatever it was that was behind me.
-2MP
To my disbelief it actually happened, my body suddenly shifted in the blink of an eye, I instantly became a mouse and dropped to the forest floor. A huge gust of wind brushed against my side and as I feel, I git a faint glimpse of what had been trying to attack me.
It was a large tongue?!
The darn thing was slimy yet extremely quick, retracting the instant it missed me.
' Gotta hide!' My small self, quickly took shelter in the now big dried leaves around me, my small head peaking out to take a look at who that long tongue belonged to.
' You've got to be kidding me...' I gulped in fear, my eyes trembling when I saw a creature I hadn't even fathomed existed before. A creature with a snakes body, a skull like head and two front limbs, equipped with long, bone claws and it's long tongue was swaying in the air.
It's hollow eye sockets glowed with a ghoulish green hue and judging by the way they were shifting, I figured he must've been confused about where I had gone.
I held my breath, watching in silence. The creature stood in wait as if waiting for something, but when I didn't notice any movement nor the sight of anything living, it let out a spine chilling gutteral sound before retreating in another direction.
I didn't come out immediately, instead choosing to wait a bit more. Only when i was sure it didn't come back, did I let out a breath.
" What was that thing?" I asked, still shaken from the encounter.
[I believe it was a Monster]
" I can see that but can't you tell me anything else about it?!" I retorted only to close my little furry snout, my eye's glancing about.
When I realized nothing was coming, I let out a breath of relief.
[Information can also be exchanged through points]
" But I don't have any points right now..."
[Well there's always next time.]
" Next time? Your joking right?"
" There is no next time. I'm not doing this anymore, that cats probably long dead by now. Who knows if it was eaten by that monstrosity."
" That's it, I'm heading home. Some mission to get back a missing cat this turned out to be."
" You could've just said you wanted to kill me from the very beginning. I'm done with this."
" Send me back."
[I'm afraid I cannot do that]
" W-What are you talking about. What do you mean you can't?" My voice trembled, whether fear or disbelief, I didn't know what I felt right now.
[If you had listened to my briefing, you would've known that a mission cannot be rejected once accepted.]
[Terminating a mission mid way will result in deduction of mission points]
[And since you don't have any. You can't terminate this mission]
[To get back, you'll first need to complete this mission]
"...."
" I'm completely screwed..."
[You can say that again.]
" Excuse you?"
[What? I only reminded you of your freedom of speech? Is there anything wrong with that]
" You know darn well that wasn't a reminder..." I glared at Light. He must've shrunk down with me when I became smaller.
" Come to think of it, why on earth am i still small in the first place." I glanced at my furry little mouse paws and my ping tail that swayed with a thought.
[I highly recommend staying in that form, not only is it discreet but, Your other senses are more sharpened.]
" Sharpened how?" I wondered, yet I suddenly blinked in surprise when I heard a strange sound.
I glanced around but didn't notice anything. Only then did I realize that I must've heard something farther away. Judging by the thudding sounds, it must be another creature up north.
' These big mouse ears really aren't for show.' I grabbed my big furry ears, feeling a bit glad.
" But wouldn't a bird be more appropriate?"
[There are two reasons why that's a bad idea.]
[1. You definitely don't know how to fly]
[2. You aren't sure whether they're more dangerous creatures up above.]
"..."
" Yeah your right, I see your point." I smiled awkwardly, I didn't think I would ever feel thankful that I had light with me.
' This would be the 2nd time he saved me...'
' Good thing I didn't come alone, otherwise I might've been dead already.'
Since I couldn't go back, finding Lennie became my prime objective. Well, that and keeping out of sight.
And so I began scurrying through the forest floor, occasionally I would hear the sounds of large creatures walking through the forest, at a point, I even heard sounds of conflict. I would be lying if I said the sound didn'
t terrify me but I knew I couldn't give up.
Well I had no option than to keep searching, giving up wasn't in my cards it seemed.
