Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: I knew it, things just keep getting weirder.

Chapter 12: I knew it, things just keep getting weirder.

" But don't you think it's strange." I asked, thinking to myself that I would've reacted differently if it were I someone told something like that.

" Mommy's done stranger things before. That's not strange at all." The huge tiger chuckled, seeing her pearly white dentures that could stand in place for pristine blades, I agreed with her.

' Now that I think about it, Mrs Granger probably isn't as simple as she seems.'

Shaking my head, I turned towards Light, waiting for his reply.

[I think you've already created the solution.]

" What? I solved the problem? But how?" I asked, confused, how could I have solved the problem when all I did was enter the cave.

[You can use the shells of the dead monster centipedes to carry the water back to Mrs Granger]

[Their bodies are long dead, plus, their individual shells are big enough to carry a few liters of water back. You could also try emptying their legs and use them for containers.]

"..."

" That sounds a bit descriptive and gory, are you sure you're an angel?"

[...]

Since Light didn't say anything, I simply did as he had said with Lennie's help, it didn't take long before we disassembled the bodies of the dead monster centipedes.

I had Lennie help me drill little holes through the legs of the monster centipedes, using a tendon like entrails I found in their bodies, I pushed them through the holes, tying them together before returning to the cave with Lennie with basin like exoskeleton shells in my hand while Lennie used her paws.

We scooped several liters of the magical water and I filled up all my make shift container's before tying them around Lennie's feet.

" There, we're all done." I said, while holding a basin of the magical water in hand. Lennie had one in her maw, to my surprise, her balance was so superb that no a drop spilled. Together, we began making our way out of the forest.

I didn't know whether it was because of Lennie's presence or the fact that she was good at avoid danger, but. We were able to make our way out of the forest unscathed.

' Thank goodness we made it out in one peace...' I said, stealing a glance at the gloomy forest behind me.

' That's the last time I ever enter somewhere like that...' I said to myself. The both of us arrived at the top of the hill but it seemed Mrs Granger was already outside, expecting us.

' She's definitely not some normal lady...' The sight of her was surprising but it did set my heart at ease.

I quickly got of Lennie because I knew what would happen next.

Like I predicted, the both of them had a heartwarming reunion. The scene was something I never expected to see.

After Mrs Granger helped take off all the magical water off Lennie's body, she came towards me and thanked me.

" Thank you for bringing my little Lennie back home dear. If I had known that was your intention from the start, I would've gone to get her myself."

" It's nothing Aunty, I'd rather you didn't stress yourself."

' Besides, I don't think little us the word I'd use to describe her.' I glanced at the huge Lennie who was licking some of the white liquid, her posture reminded me of a normal house cat but Lennie was without a doubt anything from normal.

" Well I can tell that you must be on your way to continue your journey." She said which was true, I was basically waiting for her to finish talking so I could go home already. Today's journey really did a number on me. If I could get out of bed tomorrow, that would be a miracle.

" Here, have this. It's a thank you from Lennie and I." Mrs Granger handed me a small pouch and a centipede leg filled with magical water.

" This centipede milk should do wonders for your skin. And that bag should have enough money to keep you well fed on your journey dear."

' Hold up? Centipede milk?!' I stiffened, this time I had a strange look on my face when I stared at the so called magical water but when I glanced at Mrs Granger's skin, I realized that it's effects must be really great if it could make someone like her look so young.

As for the bag she gave me, of course I wasn't rude enough to reject it either, after all, Mrs Granger took her time to come up with this departing gift's, it would be a bit disappointing on my part if I outright rejected her.

' I wonder what's Inside?' I tried to feel the contents of the pouch from the outside but strangely, I felt as if nothing was inside yet the weight of the pouch told me otherwise.

In the end I figured that It must've been on of the strange things, like how Mrs Granger could look so young and why she had a beast like Lennie as a pet or should I say daughter?

Well just thinking about it was enough to give me a headache so I spared myself the trouble.

' Getting home is what really matters, everything else should be left aside till then.' I thought to myself.

I thanked Mrs Granger again for the gifts she had given me.

" You're welcome dear." Mrs Granger and Lennie watched me as I left. Some distance away I suddenly received a new notification.

[Congratulations you've gained the trust of two people]

[Reward: + 2 points]

" Oh, $200? Not bad, that's not a bad bonus pay." I chuckled to myself before continuing on my way.

I knew this strict little man next to me, wouldn't send me back unless I found somewhere away from the prying eye's of others.

" Is this far enough?"

[I'm afraid not, keep going]

" But there's no one else her?!"

[She can still see you...] I shivered when lights face turned solemn.
