The air was thick with smoke, the ground beneath him a quagmire of scorched earth and ash. Fires raged, licking the skies with embers while brackish mud poured out of every crevice imaginable.
Then, in the blink of an eye—
He stood still, breathing shallowly, his eyes wide as the surroundings morphed into something else. Instead, a pristine, winding corridor stretched out before him. Artificial lights shone on the cold metal walls, and every now and again he felt a sharp vibration beneath his feet.
"Where am I...?"
Sigma eyed his surroundings.
He recalled his last memory—the world has already ended.
A fitting end, brought about by humanity's ever-expanding desire, for their very nature dictates that they are unable to cast away the evil inherent within themselves; it was made manifest as Evils of Humanity.
At the conclusion of a certain war, the fraudulent grail used in the ritual had somehow absorbed the impotent desires of all those who had fallen in battle, giving birth to the sea of death—one that would soon be joined by the beast prophesied in the bible, heralding a third that even made the former pale in comparison.
Having swallowed one-tenth of the world in the first hour of its onset, by the time the restraining force took action, it was already too late.
Therefore—and he repeats—the world should have already ended.
As he was deep in thought, he keenly sensed fast-approaching footsteps towards his location.
Although he couldn't recognize the environment, he wasn't under the illusion that he would be safe out here just because of it.
Sigma clenched his fists and inhaled, then closed his eyes. His mind raced through countless memories of battle, the tragedy that engulfed the world, and the myriad lives he'd taken.
And then as he struck a pose:
"Road of Resistance!"
