"I think we could dress as vampires. Don't you think it would be fun for a real vampire to go to a party dressed as a vampire?" Sarah teased Ron playfully.
"That actually sounds pretty good," Ron replied.
"All right, I'll get a couple of vampire outfits. You stay safe at home, be careful with sunlight, and make sure to cover the windows with curtains," Ron said, standing up to leave.
"Don't worry, I've got it," Sarah said, giving him an OK gesture.
Ron first arranged to have the outfits custom-made so he could pick them up in the afternoon, then called Bonnie to arrange a time to show her the necklace.
"Hello! Sorry to keep you waiting," Ron greeted Bonnie when he saw her waiting at the agreed spot.
"Luckily, I just got here too," Bonnie replied.
"Bonnie, can you take a look at this necklace? Stefan said it's a magical item, probably made by your coven," Ron said, showing her the necklace.
"Stefan said that?" Bonnie asked, puzzled. She already knew about Ron's powers and that he knew she was a witch, but she hadn't heard about Stefan's involvement.
"Oh, I thought Elena and Caroline told you," Ron explained. Then he recounted everything to Bonnie — Stefan, Damon being vampires, Elena and Caroline just learning about it yesterday, Sarah turning into a vampire because of Damon, and that this necklace had been taken from Damon and was probably tied to one of his plans.
"I've been with my grandmother all weekend, and haven't contacted them yet. But I don't sense anything unusual about this necklace… maybe my magic isn't strong enough," Bonnie said, examining it and preparing to hand it back.
"Oh, it seems it's different," Ron said, reaching for the necklace — but it zapped him slightly. No harm was done, but it clearly confirmed the necklace wasn't ordinary.
"This necklace seems to have chosen you. I can't take it. Maybe you should show it to your grandmother," Ron suggested.
"Yeah, I'll take it to her tonight," Bonnie agreed.
"By the way, how's your Halloween costume coming along?" Ron asked.
"Caroline should help me pick one, but I don't know what she'll choose. What about you two? Last year Elena and Matt dressed as a twisted doctor and nurse, it was perfect," Bonnie said, knowing Caroline had a strong influence over costume decisions.
"I'm not sure about Caroline. We confirmed our breakup last night. Tonight I'll take Sarah to the party to help her practice self-control. Sarah suggested we dress as vampires, and I've already ordered the outfits," Ron explained.
"Can I ask why?" Bonnie asked, concerned.
"You know I have superpowers. Not only can I heal, but I'm immortal. I told Caroline this, and she couldn't accept it. She worried about decades ahead if I stayed the same. She took several days to think it over before giving me her answer," Ron explained the reason for their breakup.
"I see," Bonnie said quietly, unsure what to say.
"Don't worry, Bonnie. It was a peaceful breakup. Later, I plan to pick up Caroline and bring her to the party. With Damon around, I can't be comfortable leaving her alone," Ron reassured her.
"Fair enough. You're both my friends, so I want you to be okay," Bonnie said, feeling at ease.
"All right, see you tonight. Show your grandmother the necklace when you have time and let me know what she says," Ron said.
"No problem," Bonnie replied.
That night, Ron, dressed as a vampire along with Sarah, drove to pick up Caroline. The evening went smoothly — Damon caused no trouble, and Sarah had learned mental self-control. However, Caroline wasn't happy seeing two people dressed as vampires. Near the end of the party, she insisted on having another party at the Ger Bar the next day, clearly wanting to find someone to irritate Ron. But oblivious Ron didn't notice, used to Caroline's love for parties.
"Are you going to the party tomorrow too?" Ron asked Sarah.
"Can I?" Sarah asked excitedly — she could only stay inside during the day as a vampire, so she wanted to enjoy the evening.
"Based on how well you did today, I'll go with you tomorrow too," Ron promised.
"Yay! You're the best, Ron!" Sarah cheered, almost jumping.
"All right, get some rest now. It's been a long night," Ron said, wishing her goodnight before heading upstairs.
Time passed quickly. The next evening, Ron brought Sarah to the bar for the party — and there, he saw Damon, the person he didn't want to see but couldn't avoid.
"You're really bold," Ron said, letting Sarah explore since she was now in control and wouldn't lose control. He then approached Damon directly.
"The necklace? I asked Stefan — he said you didn't give it to him," Damon demanded without answering Ron.
"It's not with me right now, and I don't feel like giving it to you," Ron replied casually.
"I'll be keeping an eye on you tonight," he added.
"Hi, Lexi," Damon muttered, greeting a woman who just arrived. She ignored him.
"Where's my brother?" Damon asked, approaching since Lexi didn't respond.
"He said he'd meet here," Lexi said casually without stopping, and walked into the dance floor.
Soon Stefan arrived and joined Lexi, playing billiards and dancing. Ron wasn't distracted — his eyes stayed on Damon. Damon briefly stepped away, but Ron immediately followed.
Not long after, Caroline's mother — the police chief of Waterfall Town — and her colleagues entered, heading straight for Sarah. Ron sensed trouble and tried to intervene. But the bar was crowded, and by the time he reached them, Sarah had already been taken. When he tried to exit through another door, he was blocked.
Even with his rabbit charm, Ron, who wasn't good with directions, circled around to another exit — only to see Damon drive a stake into Sarah's heart.
