Chapter 2 - Two

The next morning while she was eating breakfast, Mo Shengsheng heard the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs before she saw the person.

She turned around and saw Liu Yutong quickly coming down the stairs. She could almost feel the wave of relief wash over him when his eyes landed on her.

He walked over and planted a kiss on her head. Mo Shengsheng pushed down the urge to flinch and gag.

He went around the table and sat opposite her.

"Good morning baby, how did you sleep last night?"

Mo Shengsheng kept up the façade.

"I slept really well. You were really tired from your business dinner and hogged the blankets so I had to go to the guest bedroom."

She pouted making it seem like she was just acting coquettishly towards him.

She noticed him completely relaxed and lowered her head to hide the darkness in her eyes but to him, it looked like she was sulking.

Liu Yutong was thankful she didn't see anything. When he saw the stain on his shirt this morning, he thought she might have noticed but thankfully she was still as clueless as always.

"I'm sorry about that baby. I had too much to drink and didn't even notice. I'll buy you the latest bag from C as an apology."

Mo Shengsheng smiled brightly.

"Okay then, I'll reluctantly forgive you."

Inside, she was seething. How many times has he coaxed her like this? Based on his smooth words, it must've happened a lot.

Liu Yutong quickly finished his meal and stood up.

"I have to go now baby. I'll be back soon, make sure to wait for me okay."

Mo Shengsheng stood up from the table filled with foods she didn't particularly like and followed him. She tugged on his sleeve softly.

"But I want to go out today."

His eyes sharpened as they turned to her but she pretended not to notice.

"Where are you going baby? Don't you love our home?"

Mo Shengsheng pursed her lips.

"I do.. but I miss shopping a bit. I want to go to the mall and buy some things. It's quite boring to have everything sent over to me."

His expression softened and he caressed her face.

"Anything for my baby. You should have said something earlier. I thought someone was whispering things in your ear."

Mo Shengsheng tilted her head and asked.

"Why would I let anyone whisper things in my ear?"

She blushed slightly and lowered her head then bit her lip.

"Only you can whisper things in my ear."

Liu Yutong was satisfied. She was still the same dummy vase.

"I'll have the driver take you there and bring you right back okay?"

Mo Shengsheng nodded obediently.

"Okay."

He was truly a master at PUA. She almost couldn't believe that an intelligent woman like herself had been blinded by him for so long.

Mo Shengsheng stood at the door and watched him drive out with love filled eyes. She turned around and came face to face with the butler making her frown.

"What are you doing here?"

The butler bowed as usual.

"Sir is gone, you should retire to your room madam."

Mo Shengsheng narrowed her eyes and raised her head haughtily.

"What do you know? Liu Yutong agreed to let me go to the mall today."

She caught the flash of surprise in his eyes even though he hid it well. So she was the only one who wasn't aware she was being held under house arrest. Interesting.

She raised her chin and sidestepped the butler, walking up the stairs with her back straight and her chin up. The moment she stepped into the master bedroom, she let the façade fall.

Her face returned to one of indifference and her eyes were like a calm pool of water. She didn't think he would keep cameras in this room. He lived here as well in order to give her the illusion of a happy family so recording anything here could be used against him as he would no doubt, slip up.

She wasn't afraid that he would bug her phone either because he was too sure of himself. He overestimated her love for him and underestimated the love she had for herself.

Mo Shengsheng called an old number and the person on the other side took some time to pick it up. When they did, the voice was hesitant.

"Shengsheng?"

Mo Shengsheng's voice softened as she answered.

"Uncle Zhang."

The voice on the other side grew excited after confirming it was her.

"Shengsheng, it's been so long since you called uncle. How are you doing? And that husband of yours, he's treating you right?"

Mo Shengsheng paused slightly.

"Uncle Zhang, I have a problem. Can we meet today?"

Zhang Wei sensitivity noticed there was something wrong with the tone of her voice and immediately became serious.

"What is it? Tell uncle and I'll immediately take care of it."

Mo Shengsheng sighed and rubbed her eyebrows.

"It's a bit complicated uncle. I'll meet you in a few hours at the Jade plaza in the city center. Is that okay?"

Zhang Wei sighed softly hoping that it wasn't what he was thinking but agreed anyway.

"No problem Shengsheng. You know I'll always be there when you call."

"Thank you Uncle."

Zhang Wei shrugged it off

"There's no need for thanks between us. Remember that no matter what happens, I'll be your backing."

Mo Shengsheng smiled softly and answered in affirmative.

She hung up the phone with a sigh. To be honest, she was a bit lost. She had loved this man since she was a teenager and had dreamt of building a family with him till old age but her dreams were crumbling down before her like dust.

She debated on telling Su Xingue about it now but decided not to for now. If Su Xingue found out, she would definitely come back to the country and she didn't want anything that would startle Liu Yutong.

She wouldn't ask for much, only a peaceful divorce. If he couldn't give her that… then she would fight. And she would win.
