"UGH! So many works!" She exclaims looking at her piled up workload when someone laugh.
"Tsk! That's what will happen when someone is lazy, of course-- Hey! Stop looking at it as if it'll do the work!" Her kind-well-talented-and-beautiful Nurse Manager said to her. She just groaned.
"You know what, I'll just continue this work tomorrow since it's past my shift." She giggled and packed her things up and storm the exit. The only reaction she got from her Nurse Manager is looking at her helplessly.
The moment she exited the building her smiled drops. The reason why she got her plenty of work is because of her absence in two days. The excuse she has gone with is she's feeling under the weather, but the truth is... her family got to an accident. But none of them died and she's the only one who takes care of them, that's the exact reason.
"I'm not really into this pretense..." She sighs; guilt shows on her face. But what can she do? She doesn't like drama or anything else. People will only pity her then shrug it off the next minute. It's better this way.
She's busy thinking what to do when phone rings.
"Yes?"
"This is Hana Medical Institute speaking. Is this the guardian of the patient named Park Han Do?"
Her breath catches. "Yes, I am. Is there something wrong?"
"Ma'am, can you come here at the hospital? Mr. Park is now awake."
Filled with joy, her breath stops and too stunned to speak.
"Hello? Ma'am?"
"A-ah.. Y-yes. I'm going there right n-now.."She barely manages to respond before ending the call, her hands shaking. Tears spill down her cheeks.
Finally, her little brother is now awake after being in coma for two weeks. Then, when will their parent will wake up? She shoves the thought aside and focuses on what matters now.
Clutching her phone tightly, she rushes toward the pedestrian lane. The signal is green.
"God, finally—"
A loud impact. A rush of air.
Her body freezes. Numbness creeps in.
Distantly, she hears screams. An ambulance siren. Murmurs from strangers.
She realizes, with horrifying clarity—
I got hit.
"N-no.."
"Ma'am, please, stop talking."
My brother... He needs me...
