Chapter 20: Night and the Abyss: Desire and Passion 1
Tartarus is the abyss itself. A divine being who descends into the abyss still has a chance of escaping its grasp.
If within the abyss, with his current peak divine power, though he has never attempted it, Earth Mother Gaia, if he were to enter, would likely be unable to leave if he forcibly suppressed her.
Similarly, if darkness and night were to enter the abyss with his former, powerful late-stage divine power, his deified form, and the two gods actively suppressed him, he would be deeply trapped.
Thus, the Night Goddess Nyx's initiative to enter the abyss showed great trust in Tartarus, but it also caused him some doubt.
A pit several thousand meters deep appeared, and within it, night appeared.
Where night lay, Night Goddess Nyx seemed to transcend space, moving tens of millions of meters in an instant.
Instantly, Night Goddess Nyx appeared in the abyss several thousand meters below.
The thousands-meter-deep pit vanished and filled, and the abyss fell silent.
In the abyss where Nyx lay, the tiny stone chamber rapidly transformed, soon transforming into a vast, empty hall.
Boom!
A bead of concentrated divine power floated atop the hall, casting a faint, brilliant light over it.
The two gods could communicate through telepathy in the lightless darkness.
But having had a past life, Tartarus preferred to communicate normally, through sight.
The divine power of the gods wasn't fixed to a single color; it could be freely controlled.
Naturally, divine power could also choose to emit light or not.
Ever since witnessing the Sky God's dazzling chains of divine power, Tartarus had found this color of divine power to be quite aesthetically pleasing.
So, this time, he chose this brilliant color for the hall he created, though it wasn't too bright, leaning towards a dim light. 4
Darkness hates light. Night isn't as much of a nuisance, but it also dislikes light, so its brilliant light tends to be dim.
Nyx saw this kind of building for the first time, and she looked around curiously.
The dim light illuminated the hall's stone walls, revealing a variety of wondrous reliefs.
They were images of dragons, phoenixes, hydras, and other bizarre beasts and monsters from Tartarus's past lives.
The Abyss was Tartarus's true form. With a single thought, he could instantly create any desired structure on and within the abyssal land.
Beautifully patterned stone steps appeared beneath Nyx's feet, extending to a magnificent throne.
Tartarus sat atop the magnificent throne. He smiled at Nyx and said, "Welcome to the true Abyss, my beautiful sister, Nyx. Please take a seat."
With a snap of his fingers, a similar throne arose beside his own.
Swish!
Dim light naturally brings with it night.
The Night Goddess, Nyx, took a step forward and instantly sat upon the throne.
Looking around, Nyx expressed amazement. "All of this is something I've never seen before. I can't understand it, but I sense a different kind of beauty. Brother Tartarus, is this a power unique to the Abyss?"
"It's knowledge unique to me," Tartarus said. "I just woke up and was planning to find you, but you came to me first. We had the same idea. I wonder what you want from me?"
The Night Goddess, Nyx, said, "Brother Tartarus, since birth, you and I have been connected. The night and the abyss are closely connected. I can sense the abyss at every moment. "
"But since you last returned and fell into a deep sleep, I can sense the presence of the Abyss, but not its closeness to the night."
"I thought you'd only be asleep for a short while before waking, but the process was a long one. I waited for a long time, and then I saw Eros."
After a pause, she looked at Tartarus. "He said, 'I long to see you, to sense you, even to merge the night into the abyss.' That's a kind of love."
"You're coming to me to confess your love?" Tartarus thought of this term, a term that shouldn't belong among such a majestic deity.
An inexplicable emotion flickered in the beautiful, alluring eyes of Nyx, the goddess of night.
She looked at Tartarus intently, as if wanting to imprint the figure before her permanently into the night, to accompany it forever.
"I sense the abyss's resurgence, so I want to see you. I desperately want to see you."
"I don't know the exact emotion or feeling of love, but I want to experience what it's like when darkness merges with the abyss. So, I enter it to see you."
As she spoke, she stood up and walked before Tartarus, a faint pink hue appearing on her fair, delicate face.
Looking into Tartarus's eyes, she continued, "Now that I see you, my previously frantic heart, which was waiting, has calmed down. My anxious heart has calmed down, and my restless heart has calmed down even more."
"Seeing you, sensing you, I'm so happy. Will you, hold my hand?"
She extended her fair, delicate arm to Tartarus, her slender fingertips a delicate pink.
Looking at the delicate hand, Tartarus stood up, reached out his large hand, and clasped it tightly around the smaller one.
He would not refuse such a beautiful goddess, especially one he had long admired and fantasized about.
The smooth, tender feeling, a wonderful sensation almost like an electric shock, was a sensation even more marvelous than that of Tartarus's previous human life.
Nyx took a step forward, drawing even closer to Tartarus.
She looked up, gazing at the face so close: "When Eros was born, many images flashed through my mind. Images of me, and also of you, my fantasy of possessing a divine body. At that time, two emotions welled up within me."
"Later, I learned from Eros: one was shyness, the other was lust. My lust for you. Have you ever experienced those images?"
When Eros was born, Tartarus's mind flashed through countless beautiful images of his and Nyx's pleasure.
Now he knew, too, that Nyx had experienced the same.
It was the first time Tartarus had been so close to Nyx, and the first time he had smelled the sweet scent of the night.
It was a fragrance he loved, a fragrance that captivated and intoxicated him.
Tartarus released Nyx's small hand and reached forward to wrap his arms around her soft, gentle waist.
He took a half-step closer, bringing the two gods even closer.
He said earnestly, "Yes, there are many images, images of you and me. From now on, whether I see you or not, whenever I see darkness, those images will inadvertently flash back to me."
"I was afraid I'd lose control and pull you into the depths of the abyss, to carry out the scenes and actions depicted in those images."
"I'm so glad I controlled myself. I didn't hurt you. I'm also disappointed that I didn't realize the wonderful touch between us in the images."
Suddenly, Nyx was thrown into the embrace she had imagined for so long, feeling those strong yet gentle arms and a warmth she had never felt before. Those images flashed through her mind again.
Her cheeks flushed crimson as she lowered her head and said, "After that, those images occasionally surfaced. Ever since your divine form appeared, you in the images have become even more real."
"But the long wait that followed was a torment for me. I could only replay those images over and over again, even becoming intoxicated by them."
"At the time, I even wanted to swear that if you woke up, I would immediately make those images come true. So..."
"Brother Tartarus, do you love me?"
