Chapter 24: The Abyss Predicts the Future, Ocean God Pontos
Chapter 24: The Abyss Predicts the Future, Ocean God Pontos
Tartarus perceived with his divine senses, gazing into the pit.
In the circular pit surrounding the earth, countless points of blue-white divine power transformed into countless masses of seawater.
"What is this?" wondered the Night Goddess, Nyx.
Tartarus said, "Water, or more precisely, seawater, is essential for living things. Living things will die without it."
After saying this, Tartarus discovered the sixth page of the Book of Creation.
The Water God's Godhead's integrity increased from 3% to 6%.
"This should be attributed to my understanding of the laws of water, which has increased the integrity of the Water God's Godhead fragments," Tartarus thought.
"Are living things beings other than gods?" Nyx then asked.
"Yes, with the birth of the ocean, I have gained new memories. In the future, all kinds of creatures will be born, as well as matter beyond living things."
"There will be animals, plants, and monsters. Now we have the salt water of the ocean, and there will be fresh water from rivers and lakes. Later, there will be fire and wind."
"The sky has the sun, the moon, and the celestial bodies. Later, there will be space. Daylight will appear on Earth, the seasons will alternate, the weather will change, and civilization and knowledge will flourish. The world of Chaos will become even richer."
Tartarus muttered to himself, his eyes darkening.
Not only did the Goddess of Night hear this, but the other gods heard it too.
They didn't know what these things were or what they looked like, but after Tartarus finished speaking, they felt an inexplicable sense of destiny, a sense that all of this would come true in the future.
Tartarus's words now made him seem even more mysterious.
The flood of information refreshed the gods' understanding of the world, and for a moment, they were all lost in thought.
This time, Tartarus deliberately said so much.
Just a fraction of the way to completeness, he could become the God of Chaos and then deify the Abyss itself.
As his strength grew, he gained a deeper understanding of the operating rules of the Chaos world.
These predetermined outcomes, whether spoken or unspoken, were bound to come to pass. Therefore, his words had no impact on the world, and there was no need to continue pretending.
If these prophecies were fulfilled, the God of Prophecy would be achieved even more quickly, which was exactly what Tartarus desired.
He wondered what the future of the world would be like if he seized the divine power of a future god.
Or was it fate that, no matter what he did, he would be unable to seize the divine power of a future god?
These small experiments would help him better understand the Chaos world, so he began to experiment.
At this point, the circular pit had filled with seawater, reaching a level with the surrounding land.
Tartarus discovered that the Book of Creation revealed that the God of Prophecy's divine power had increased in completeness.
This indicated that the prophecy of the birth of the ocean had been fulfilled.
At this moment, a massive wave surged up from the sea, and a new god emerged from the water, riding upon it.
At the shore, Tartarus and Nyx, the goddess of night, gazed into the distance.
A massive wave broke through the surface, and a god from the sea descended before them.
This was a male god with long, curly blue hair. He was in his youth, tall and strong, with a rather simple appearance, and dressed in a long blue robe.
"Praise be to my sister, Gaia, the Earth Mother, who gave birth to you. Child, welcome to your birth. I am Tartarus, the god of the underworld and the abyss."
"I am Nyx, the goddess of night."
"I am Erebus, the god of darkness."
After Tartarus and Nyx introduced themselves, Erebus, who had left earlier, appeared and spoke.
"Your Highness, welcome! I am Eros, the god of love, lust, and passion."
Eros also appeared.
"Hello, I am Pontos, the God of the Sea." The honest-looking youth gazed at the four Tartarus gods with curiosity in his blue eyes.
At this moment, Gaia, the Earth Mother, appeared.
Her appearance remained unchanged, and her strength remained at the peak mid-level of divine power, undiminished.
Tartarus could sense that this first-generation Ocean God, Pontos, was at the early stage of a powerful divine power, weaker than the current Goddess of Night.
Perhaps, the Ocean God was weaker, possessing the essence and divine power bestowed by the world, and thus not having robbed much of the Earth's essence.
Naturally, Gaia's strength remained unchanged.
"Mother Goddess." Seeing Gaia, Pontos, the Ocean God, displayed a respectful expression.
"Welcome, my child. I am delighted to see you born healthy," said Gaia, the Earth Mother.
She looked at Tartarus again. "It's been a long time since we last met, brother Tartarus. Thank you so much, for helping my child again. Last time, I promised to go to the Abyss to thank you, but you fell into a deep sleep. This time, I will definitely go."
"Sister Gaia and Pontus, the God of the Sea, are always welcome in the Abyss," Tartarus replied with a smile.
"My brother, Pontus, the God of the Sea, and I am Uranus, the God of the Sky." At this moment, Uranus landed beside Gaia.
He continued, "Just now, to prevent any accidents, I used my divine power to ensure that Pontus could safely receive the gift from the Chaos World. Seeing Pontus' successful birth, I'm relieved."
Hearing the usually domineering Uranus say this, Tartarus wanted to laugh.
This God of the Sky wasn't always so overbearing. As befitted the future King of the Gods, he also possessed a knack for sophistry.
Tartarus looked as if suddenly enlightened. "Uranus, so that's how it is. I misjudged you."
"I thought you were trying to seize Pontus's sea godhood, so I suddenly intervened to intercept the source and divine power bestowed upon Pontus by the outer world."
"So, I intervened to stop you. As your uncle, I was truly wrong to doubt you. It's my fault, and I apologize."
"No need. I was anxious to help my brother Pontus, and it's wrong to act rashly," Uranus said.
Tartarus said, "Indeed, don't be so impulsive next time. After all, you've just been born, and you need to learn to control your divine power."
"You too," Uranus said. "The Abyss is at the bottom of the world. That's Chaos's rule. For the Abyss to rush to the earth would be disrespectful to the Mother Goddess and a challenge to Chaos."
"I'm sorry, Sister Gaia. I'll ask for your permission next time," Tartarus said, looking at Gaia. 4
"Tartarus, you did nothing wrong. You did it for Pontus," said Gaia, the Earth Mother, shaking her head slightly.
Then, she looked at Pontus: "My child, you are newborn and need to understand this world and your divine authority. I will go into the ocean with you and explain the world to you."
"Okay, Mother Goddess."
Then, the two gods flew into the ocean together.
"Hmph!"
Giving Tartarus a cold glance, Uranus, the Sky God, soared high into the sky.
Tartarus and the Dark Goddess vanished into the night, traveling together to the abyss.
Erebus, the Dark God, vanished into the darkness.
"With many gods, there are many emotions." Eros, the God of Love, smiled playfully and vanished. 3
Waves often crash against the shores of the earth. With the birth of the ocean, the world is no longer so peaceful, but is moving towards greater prosperity...
Deep in the ocean, Pontus, the god of the sea, looked towards Gaia, the mother goddess of the earth, and asked, "Mother Goddess, does Uranus really want to seize my divine power over the sea?"
