Synopsis
To save her empire, they gave the Saintess Ilia to the Abyss. They thought they were sacrificing her to a place. They were wrong. The Abyss was not a place. It was him. Zephar. A fallen god of ruin and sorrow, imprisoned in a cathedral of shadows. His beauty was a sin, his voice was velvet and venom, and his eyes held the light of dying stars. He was everything she was taught to fear, and everything her soul secretly craved. He offered her a deal, not with a handshake, but with a brand upon her soul. He would spare her world, and in return, he would own her. Her every prayer, once for heaven, now belonged to him alone. He was her cruelest tormentor, delighting in shattering her fragile faith. Yet, he was also her most obsessive protector. When the world that sacrificed her dared to hurt her, he would wrap her in shadows and command with the thunder of a jealous king: “Tell me who made you cry, so I can unmake them.” In the arms of the one being she was meant to fear, Ilia found the only truth in a world of holy lies. She was meant to be his prisoner, but she became his obsession. And he, the monster from her nightmares, became her only sanctuary. Now, her faith is dead. Her devotion is his. And to save her fallen god, she will not just defy heaven. She will become the heresy that brings it to its knees. “Fall for me, Ilia,” he commanded, his voice a promise of beautiful ruin. “And I will be the only god you ever need.”

Chapter 1 - Volume 1: The Thorned God-Servant

Ilia is the last servant of a forgotten god: Knowledge, her life dedicated to the sacred texts within a secluded monastery. But when the Inquisition, zealots of an ignorant faith, arrives to burn her world, she is cast out and reborn as the Thorned God-Servant.

Her new path is one of pain and sacrifice, her very existence a thorn in the side of the empire. Protected by the stoic Praetorian, Julian, she flees with her priceless codices. The hunted scholar becomes a reluctant weapon, using ancient wisdom to arm a rebellion from the shadows. After the Inquisition's fire consumes her final sanctuary, she embraces her destiny. No longer a passive keeper of history, she becomes its agent, turning from the hunted to the hunter and setting a course for the dark heart of the empire.
