"No matter who I end up with, they never love me...why?"
Rel the victim of her own fantasy asks, not only asking why at that point but begging with her very soul, her strained voice devoid of moisture, her eyes filled with tears and puffy face bruised covered in dirt, still clearly showing the traces of where her tears once fell, her pale lips quivering for an answer. Was she really going to experience death for a second time, and why was it her that ended up in such a predicament again?
"WHYYY, ANSWER ME!!!" she shouts but no one seemed to care, because after all she deserved to die for the crimes she had committed, she was nothing less of a monster and yet her cries seemed so genuine as if not knowing truly what she had done wrong in the second life she lived.
"I am your sister...please" tears roll down Rel's eyes this time and in this life only had she cried to her sister begging for forgiveness for the chance to change and live.
"This was your second chance wasn't it..." Rel's eyes widen as her sister spoke those words, her breathing slowing and rhythmically matching to the sound of she sister's heel graciously and elegantly clanking across the marbled floor, walking towards her
Rel lifted her head, she knew something was off with her sister but never expected for her to have traveled back in time as well.
"You, you also traveled back in time...Raynel?" she twists her feeble hand trying her best to pull against the chains she had been shackled in for the past 3 months.
"You have no rights to call me by name, nor do you have any rights to beg for forgiveness... and neither do you have the rights to ask me to live." A seldom resignation was all that was said before Raynel turned her back on the so-called sisterly love she once had for Rel, this was their second life a second chance to live the way they truly wanted but, it was always hard for old habits to die.
"Why do they always like you! You aren't even pretty! Why you and not me!??" Rel asked, Raynel stopped in her tracks; she had never expected that Rel would change overnight but she sure as hell thought she would after 3 months in confinement, not only had the words Rel spoke prove that distancing herself was the right choice, but her death was her own doing. Even thought this was Raynel second time across two lifetimes, she still turned back to watch at Rel.
"Because you...you are a bad person, you are evil, and you are selfish you care about no one but yourself...I hope that answers your question." Raynel's conviction was the last Rel would hear of her until the day of her execution, where Infront of all the people she had hurt, belittled and used in this lifetime, watched in bated breath all waiting to see her get what she had deserved.
Rel looked into the crowd of people that where not just happy but celebrating that her life would be coming to a decisive end. As she gazed teary eyed into the storm the storm herself looked back, the last time she would ever see her sister and it was she who had won in the end and still attracted the two men's heart, that she had played with and toyed turning their emotions of love, maybe pity into something she had never wanted.
With a half expecting look she stared at her husband, the one she had snatched away from her sister in this life, the one she thought would be highly successful and would bring in fortunes and move waves in the world of culinary arts, becoming a head chef at a 5-star Mechlin restaurant. Rel stared with pleading eyes, but he hadn't even looked in her direction not once, not even sparing a second to look away from Raynel as if his life had depended on it.
"Does the wronged have any last words?" The time was ticking it was the end for Rel nothing she would say would stop this moment from happening, she was going to die for a second time, she watched the familiar dark robed man, he looked like the same one from the last life. Rel couldn't help but smile, she was going to get killed twice by the same man and he doesn't even know it. Her smile fades as tears continue to stream down her face.
"I am so sorry to everyone I have wronged; I am sorry I wasn't a good person in this life too; I am sorry Raynel I wasn't a good sister, and I can only promise you that hopefully if I ever get a third chance at life that I would not treat you so ill heartedly" her lips quiver, unsure if she had actually meant it but with a tinge of acceptance Rel bowed her head, praying that it wouldn't hurt too much in this life and that she would be ended quickly. With one final look at her sister all the noise began to drown out, and she can see that her sister had moved her black vial to cover her honey kissed face. Was her sister mourning because of her soon passing or was she crying because she was free.
It was neither her concern nor her rights to know what caused her sister to cry, the things she had done in this lifetime no one could forgive; she took a deep breath, crying, her hands shaking uncontrollably, she exhaled...everything around Rel had faded to darkness as she closed her eyes, and in one quick motion... cheers erupted from the crowd and pain had settled in she wanted to scream but couldn't move her mouth she wanted to cry but no tears dared to come out.
Was this the life she was destined to live, to be the villain in someone else's story, to never find true love, to always hurt those around her. Maybe the third chance is the charm.
