Today was a special day.
It was the day that would decide who among the thousands of people here would become a Guardian.
And there weren't much spots, only around 1370.
Ivy was in the bathroom, calmly sorting out her hair.
She wasn't nervous about whether she was going to be selected or not, for she already knew she would.
Becoming a Guardian to her wasn't a big deal, and she wasn't worried about the fact that this job would be extremely dangerous.
At least, she wasn't worried about herself. She was worried about her twin sister, Iris.
Iris had showed a great intrest about the job of the Guardians, especially what they would fight:Demons.
She said she was intrigued and mesmerized by such ugly looking creatures, and that she herself wanted to have the pleasure of annihilating them.
And worst of all, she is capable.
Both twins are really strong, but Ivy wished Iris could lay low, lest any other incident happened again to her.
But Iris didn't listen, and said that they were really capable of saving people, and they shouldn't lay low just because Ivy wanted to save her. It would be trading a life for millions.
And that's how today came to be.
"Ivyy!!!! Hurry up! People are already lining up!"
Ivy turned her head, and saw Iris standing by the door, looking as energetic as ever.
"What're you looking at? Hurry up!"
She sighed and walked over.
Although they were twins, their appearance and personality were very distuinguishable.
Iris had long wavy red hair, with a strang of white hair that reached her shoulder. She had green eyes and there was a slightly visable scar vertically to her collarbones.
She was a very energetic and bubbly person, willing to befriend anyone.
Ivy on the other hand, had long white hair that was usually tied in a Braid, and two strands of red hair on the side of her face, with an eye patch covering her right eye, but a scar was still visable behind the patch.
She had a brown eye and was a rather quiet and antisocial character, who trusted no one and interacted with only her sister.
They did everything together, and it was because of this that many people mocked them and said stuff like.
"Just they wait until they get ranked, they'll definitely be separated then."
"Rigth? I think Ivy will pass and the other won't. She's horrible."
"What? No way, Iris will pass and Ivy'll stay behind."
They both usually paid no mind to it.
Ivy just didn't care about other people's opinion, and according to Iris words: 'What's the point of answering? I don't get why they care so much about whether we pass or not.'
Ever since being diagnosed as emotionally detatched, she didn't understand some emotions very well, which actually helped her sometimes.
But today, as they stood in line to get ranked and potentially selected to be official Guardins, Iris tapped on Ivys shoulder and asked.
"Hey sis, do you think we'll become Guardians?"
Ivy turned to her, slightly confused.
"Of course."
Looking at her expression, Iris laughed at how certain she was.
"Of course you'd say that."
"Do you think we won't?"
"Nah, I know we will, I just making sure you didn't have any sudden doubts due to nervousness"
Iris chuckled and looked away, only to lock eyes with a guy, looking straight at her.
She looked at him with a blank face for a good second before smiling brightly and waving at him.
He didn't wave back, and just looked ahead again, leaving Iris slightly disappointed.
"Do you know him?"
She asked Ivy.
Ivy looked at the guy.
He was a guy with darker skin, very tall, and for some reason, he was wearing sunglassed inside the training ground.
She shook her head and Iris sighed.
"Such a shame…He's so handsome."
"Can you blame him? He must think he'll be selected to be a Guardian, and making friends with people he doesn't know if they'll become Guardians or not is just a waste of time."
"Jesus, way to put it harshly."
She sulked a bit and Ivy turned her head to look ahead of her again.
That may seem like a lot, but there were people here with more than 200 years.
They were being tested by the creators of the training ground they've been living in for 87 years.
And all that was possible because from the moment they were blessed with powers that the angels gave, they not only became immortals, but their appearance stayed the same as the age they got those powers.
And for the two of them, they stopped aging at 22.
The reason why they were only being tested for their rank now was because this test only happened every 100 years.
The ranks were a lot, but only the higher ranks manage to become Guardians and be put into teams that will go to any continent in the world, and protect a certain area from demon attacks.
The ranks were as followed:
The strongest and most rare: Special grade (demons or fallen angels)- 1 every ????
Second strongest: SS- 1 every 1,9 million
Third strongest: S/S+- 1 every 765 thousand
Fourth strongest: A-1 every 335 thousand
Other ranks :B, C, D
Only the first four ranks manage to be selected to become Guardians, because the demons lately have become stronger.
Ivy ans Iris have been training for 87 years so Ivy thought they'd be fighting or testing their mental skills…
"Name."
"Ivy Moura."
One of the organizers for this training ground was sitting right in front of her, searching for the paper that said her name, read for a minute and then said.
"Go to the stadium to your left and wait there until further instructions."
No fighting no nothing. Just..a person looking at our information and telling us to fuck off basically.
Ivy walked extra slowly, waiting for Iris to be done so that they could walk together to the stadium.
When Iris approached her, they finally picked up the pace and walked alongside more people to the stadium the instructors had all told them to go to.
Once we reached the stadium, there were already thousands and thousands of people who had been evaluated and were waiting.
We found a spot and stayed there.
Iris talked excitedly about which continent she'd like to go to when they got selected, making people close to them scoff and murmur between each other about how convinced we were.
The reason they were so confident was simple: Their powers and physicall capabilities was almost at it's peak, only 62 years after getting them, while people with more than 200 years that had been through these test weren't even at their feet.
Ivy didn't disclose her power publicaly, but her bubly sister did.
She could create hundreds of clones of herself using her dna, and control the actions of them separately, and even switch positions with them.
With that in mind, people could imagine how powerfull her sisters power would be.
—
More and more people kept coming in until it was almost fully packed
Iris had gone around talking to all kinds of people, and even found the guy she talked to before, once more approaching him and trying to talk to him.
He wasn't very cooporative but she didn't mind and kept talking, thinking that it would probably be the last time she'd talk to him, since she'd be selected and he might not.
She found out that his name was Ethan and he was 104 years old but got his power at 24.
After a while, Ivy ended up going to look for her because it was almost time to be selected, so she very regretefully left this guy alone.
After a good while, the main instructors appeared once more.
They didn't waste any time and began explaining some important informations.
"Attention everyone. I'm Marcus, the funder of this training ground. As some of you may or many may not know, I have a power that lets me evaluate people. I can distrubute this power to my coworkers so that by reading a bit of information about how you have improved over the years, we can tell if you'll be a good Guardian, and also your rank.
Now I'll explain how this works. I'll read the name of the people who'll become Guardians, and they'll move to another stadium like this, where they'll be told their rank, which team they'll be put and with who, and to which continent and regions they'll be moved.
I've said everything I needed. Now, please stay quiet and whoevers name I call, please proceed to this door."
Saying this, almost everyone moved their eyes to the door besides the commander.
"Then, let's start."
He began naming names the twins didn't know, but they weren't nervous.
Sure enough, what they expected happened.
"Ivy and Iris Moura, please proceed to this room without wasting time."
