INT – RANDY'S BEDROOM – DAY
Randy, excited for his 13th birthday, looks out his bedroom window at his family setting up the birthday party outside.
Mrs. Young, the werewolves' housekeeper, stops by Randy's room and talks to him.
MRS. YOUNG
Today's the big day.
RANDY
Yeah. I can't wait.
MRS. YOUNG
Neither can everyone else.
RANDY
Everyone except Uncle Max. He thinks he's the best at leading the pack since Dad passed away. And I will never have what it takes to take Dad's place.
MRS. YOUNG
Hmmm. Maybe you aren't.
RANDY
No, I am. Uncle Max is wrong.
MRS. YOUNG
Well. If you feel that way, answer this. Would you care to go downstairs and prove him wrong? Or would you rather stay up here and prove him right?
Randy leaves his room, goes downstairs, and heads outside to his party.
EXT – BACKYARD – DAY
At the start of the party, Randy's Aunt Destiny and Uncle Oliver perform a square dance wearing cowboy hats.
Destiny starts country music, and they dance while the crowd claps along.
The guests put on cowboy hats and joined the square dance, synchronizing their movements with Destiny and Oliver.
They tilt their hats, move forward with their right hands on their hips, turn around, and clap, then lift their left leg behind their right leg with their hands on their hips.
They slap their hips and clap once, then move their left leg behind their right leg, pretending to twirl ropes while dancing left.
They put their hands on their hips, move their right leg behind their left leg, and pretend to twirl lassos again while dancing left.
They dance toward partners, put THEIR arms around each other, and do the Dosey Doe.
They separate, slap knees, and throw hats in the air as the song ends.
Meanwhile, Uncle Max talks with alpha wolves Steve and Victoria about Randy's readiness to lead the pack.
MAX
That boy is not ready to lead the pack. Look outside; he's square dancing with the family and having a great time.
VICTORIA
It's his birthday. He should be having fun.
STEVE
And I bet he's excited for his first wolfing.
MAX
Maybe. But if you ask me, the pack doesn't need him as the leader. They need to keep me as the leader. I have been a wise leader to the pack since Rodney died.
VICTORIA
A wise leader who has failed to get the moonstone ring back from Hunter Reed.
Victoria shows Max a newspaper with Hunter's picture on the front page.
MAX
I've tried. But he's too determined. He has werewolf sensors that can detect any of us if we get too close to them.
He's also loaded with silver gadgets to destroy us, but luckily, he's never succeeded.
He also doesn't have any actual proof that we exist.
And if we even tried to get near him while the sensors weren't around, the moonstone ring glows whenever one of us is near.
So it's impossible to get that ring away from him. We would need a trick of our own to get it.
Victoria takes the paper from Max and throws it on the table.
VICTORIA
Well. We'll have to rely on Randy until you develop a way to regain it and succeed.
Steve and Victoria leave the room, leaving Max inside. Max growls in anger.
Meanwhile, the other werewolves enjoy Randy's birthday party in their human forms.
After dancing, Randy and his family eat Randy's favorite cake: chocolate with buttercream icing.
Randy opens his presents: a telescope from Uncle Oliver and Aunt Destiny, a framed picture of his dad from his mother, and a watch from Uncle Max.
Randy puts on the watch, thinking it charming, unaware of Uncle Max's evil smirk.
Randy thanks everyone, puts his gifts away, and the DJ begins playing music as they all dance.
The party ends, and everyone goes back inside, waiting for the full moon to come out to change into werewolves.
INT – RANDY'S BEDROOM – NIGHT
Randy takes his presents to his room and sets them up by the window and on the dresser.
RANDY
I miss you, but I'll make you proud.
Randy starts to sing about making his father proud and looking forward to becoming a werewolf for the first time.
His two cousins, Merna and Randall, laugh at him and start making fun of him for not being a werewolf yet.
MERNA
Well, well. If it isn't the only non-wolf in the pack.
RANDY
For now. But that's going to change tonight when everyone changes.
RANDALL
Yeah, and when you change, we'll have to take your orders instead of Dad's. Ha ha.
RANDY
Oh man. I would show you both if I had my werewolf powers right now.
Randy pushes his two cousins out of his room and slams the door.
MERNA
Well, that was undignified.
