Zayden was a player that had mostly been active during, although subjective, the golden age of Minecraft. While not entirely clueless about the happenings of the current game, he certainly was no expert on the most recent updates on the worldwide sensation sandbox game. No matter how far that knowledge of his extends, he'll have no choice but to put it to good use. Especially now that he has somehow, perhaps by some twisted fate, found himself capable of transporting between the Minecraft world and Teyvat of all places. From a game he played in the past to a world of gods he knew little to nothing about, it was time for him to once again pick up the pickaxe!

Chapter 1 - Enter The Minecraftian

A/N: I did start another Genshin Impact story in the past, but I stopped only after two chapters or so because I realised that I had no true direction with where I wanted to go with it. I may revisit it later down the line, but I can't be certain.

I haven't actually played in a long time, and my knowledge only really extends to the end of the main Fontaine story, and that's not including any in-depth lore of the world. If I screw up lore, don't hesitate to kick me in the ass. If you want to spoil anything to get my knowledge straight, feel free.

This goes the same for Minecraft, I'm not completely aware of everything new on the game, I've only rather recently started playing again.

As I'm sure you know Minecraft has a very twisted set of physics and laws compared to a more 'logical' world like Teyvat, but nonetheless I'll try to implement them as best I can. If even then it causes all of us to have migraines, either because it's too confusing or I'm dumb as fuck.

Probably both.

So, if I screw up, well... fuck me I guess.

Finally, I intend for my character to be a realistic type of person, whatever the hell that means.

(O)-----------------(O)

"Now this is... nostalgic."

A young male's voice could be heard, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of what sounded like a soft thumping kind of sound. The male looked to be in his early twenties, with black and white hair and a pair of maroon coloured eyes, and a set of casual modern clothes.

More specifically, a black and white unzipped jacket over a red t-shirt, a pair of sleek long dark-blue pants, and white running shoes.

Naturally, the voice came from him.

His name was Zayden, and let's just say his situation is more than a little unique.

As for the thumping sound that could be heard, it was being produced by the collision between his fists and the strangely blocky shaped tree in front of him. In fact, looking around at the entire world, everything seemed to be composed entirely out of blocks as far as the eye could see.

Anyone who considers themselves a gamer and probably even just a casual would instantly recognise just what kind of landscape this place belonged to. Comfortably sitting as one of the most sold games in the entire world back home, it'd be difficult for a gamer not to recognise it.

As Zayden continued punching the tree, cracks could be seen visibly forming on it. Said crack getting bigger as the punches accumulated. As the cracks eventually reached the very edges of the tree, in a twisted sense of physics, the tree block he was punching shattered.

And the block itself could now be seen now shrunken into a compact form, hovering and spinning on the tree block that stood on the ground beneath the one he broke. Strangely enough, the rest of the tree was still suspended in the air without disturbance.

Despite the absurdity that was being displayed, Zayden showed now outward reaction aside from a simple nonchalant glance.

"Baby steps." Zayden commented casually before glancing into the top left corner of his peripheral vision. "Let's see..."

Unlike the usual Minecraft system, Zayden was given something with a few more features. The menu was in the corner of his vision.

-----------------

[Minecraft Modular System]

-----------------

• Inventory

• Quests (Main: 1 | Side: 0)

• Mods (Total: 0)

• Portal (Minecraft | Teyvat [Locked])

-----------------

On top of the usual vanilla Minecraft Inventory, there also seemed to be the option for mods in the future. As for how he obtained them, your guess was as good as his. Though, if he had to hazard a guess, it was most likely through the Quests function that the system seemed to have.

The last option labeled "Portal" was also very eye catching, and it seems that it may allow him to create a portal to a place called Teyvat. He wasn't completely unfamiliar with the term, and if he wasn't mistaken, Teyvat was the name of the continent that a certain gacha game was set in.

Genshin Impact, if he remembered correctly.

He had personally never really played it, but he was at the very least active enough on social media to be aware of its existence.

In any case, aside from that, Zayden was more focused on the Quests menu, where his current main objective was shown to him.

-----------------

[Main Quest]

-----------------

• Main Objective: Survive and prepare for the upcoming night by crafting a complete set of tools (Progress: Incomplete)

• Secondary Objective: Build yourself an acceptable base of operations (Progress: Incomplete)

.

Reward(s):

• Common Blocks Crate

• Common Minerals Crate (Secondary)

-----------------

"I mean, as long as the secondary objective is completed, it shouldn't be difficult to complete the main objective."

After all, as long as he made a secure box, he could just wait until the night ends and that'll be the task completed, an added bonus if said box is an acceptable house. As for tools, it really shouldn't be difficult in the slightest.

Even for someone like him who had only just recently started playing the game again after a number of years, the recipes for tools were kind of hard to forget.

"The question now though..." Zayden muttered to himself before glancing at the square sun. "...Is the day and night cycle based on the game or real life?"

If it was the former, that meant he had only twenty minutes to complete the task, which seemed rather unlikely to be possible in this setting. If it was the game and he was using a keyboard, easy as pie.

Not so much now.

"Based on the speed of the sun, I think I'm safe to assume I have a few hours until nighttime. In that case, let's get as much done as possible."

Wasting no time, Zayden quickly turned back to the tree and began punching down rest of the logs, prompting the leaves to slowly but surely break apart naturally.

Fortunately, the Inventory and Hotbar he had was no different from the game, so making planks and using them to make a crafting table was a simple procedure.

Speaking of the Inventory and Hotbar, it seemed that those specific features actually were originating from an effect that he had and not directly from the system. Effect as in things like fire resistance and swiftness, and the effect was as follows.

-----------------

Minecraftian

-----------------

Duration: ∞

Effect: Grants the characteristics of a Minecraftian as well as access to the Inventory and Hotbar. Increases the user's overall body strength based on the weight of the item currently being physically held in their hand

-----------------

Aside from the Inventory and Hotbar, the increase in body strength based on the currently held item didn't seem to be useful. At least not here in the Minecraft world, but in Teyvat when he eventually somehow unlocks that, such an effect could be devastating.

Unlike here where weight didn't determine damage done when used to hit an entity, a place more realistic in a sense like Teyvat might suffer dearly.

But~... that was an issue for the future.

Back to Zayden, he had already actually run over to a small opening to a dark cave where he setup his crafting table and had collected some cobblestone after making a wooden pickaxe.

As any experienced Minecrafter would do, the only wooden tool they'd usually make is a wooden pickaxe to collect cobblestone to immediately advance to the next stage.

"Don't need this anymore."

With a casual toss, Zayden threw the wooden pickaxe behind him. Which would've looked cooler if the pickaxe hadn't followed the rules of how items looked when dropped... a spinning hovering set of pixels on the ground.

"That's the tools out of the way, even a freaking hoe just in case..." Zayden then climbed out of the small ditch that was the cave entrance. "Fuck, this is so annoying!"

Although the Minecraftian physique made it so he couldn't feel physical fatigue, the needed action of jumping over blocks half his height was beyond annoying.

He felt like he was climbing the Aztec pyramids!

If it weren't for the wacky ass laws of this Minecraft world that allowed him to jump a meter high, he'd have to physically march or climb himself over every block.

"I should definitely build the house first before anything else, the question now is where. Where should I build it?"

After a quick glance around, Zayden noticed the relatively flat area ahead of him outside of the oak forest that he was in. Most likely a plains biome, they tended to be pretty common around oak forests, at least in his experience.

"Something simple should suffice... let's get started."

(O)-----------------(O)

What exactly constitutes a house?

Well, in Zayden's opinion, a house is a place with closed walls and a door... and that is exactly what he has built in the past few seconds.

Made out of oak planks, the house Zayden made was a casual box-shaped house with no windows and a wooden door that separated the inside from the out. It wasn't anything special and had dimensions of six by eight, or something around that, he honestly wasn't paying attention.

It was house, and that's all that mattered!

How did he know it was considered a house?

The quest has spoken, that's how!

"The grass floor kinda pisses me off, but this is only a temporary house." Zayden muttered as he kicked the grass floor. "I still have a number of hours until nighttime, so... time to start mining I guess."

For extra safety, Zayden opted for the strip mining approach for now as he began to dig out a staircase down from inside his house. He had no idea how long he'd be spending down here, so he made sure to chop enough wood and even burn some to get charcoal to make some torches.

As for food, he did manage to find some cows and pigs that he killed, thus giving him a few steaks and pork chops to hopefully last him a good while.

"I hope I don't get claustrophobic being down here too long..."
