Chapter 7 - 7

He rejected the young reporter's request to take him to the press conference.

Lin Feng drove his R8 alone to the press conference.

In broad daylight, he dared not fly around carelessly; there were too many people and eyes, unlike at night when wearing dark clothes made him largely unnoticeable.

Meanwhile, Pepper was busy touching up Tony's face.

She used concealer to cover all the wounds on Tony's face until no abnormalities were visible.

Coulson was constantly going over details.

On the TV behind him, Rhode was fabricating a story to explain the previous night's explosion to a group of reporters.

"This is your alibi!" Coulson handed Tony two drafts.

"You were on your yacht all last night! And you have sworn testimonies from 50 guests!"

"There's evidence at the port that you never left Avalon last night."

Tony took the drafts and raised an eyebrow: "That's good, but I'd prefer if it was just Pepper and me..."

"Alone on the island!" Tony said, winking at Pepper, who was still working on his face.

"Also, what about Lin Feng? I mean that black-haired kid..."

"He's your bodyguard! Very reasonable, right?"

"Are you kidding? Do those reporters really believe that excuse? That reason doesn't hold up, does it?" Tony looked utterly bewildered.

"It's fine, we've done this many times!" Coulson smiled confidently.

"There's no better explanation; just read the script I gave you, and all of this will pass quickly."

"You have 90 seconds!"

"Alright, I just hope Lin doesn't get angry and punch me," Tony shrugged, "God knows if Lin Feng would be that petty."

Coulson temporarily left, and Pepper helped Tony put on his jacket; the wounds on his face were now completely invisible after her work.

Adjusting his collar, Tony strode towards the front hall.

As soon as he appeared, cameras and microphones were pointed at Tony Stark, snapping away.

Tony didn't even blink; he was long accustomed to such scenes.

Walking onto the podium, he adjusted the microphone, took out his script, and Tony got straight to the point: "...Some people speculate that I was involved in the incidents that occurred earlier on the highway and on the rooftop..."

Before Tony could even finish a sentence, a discordant voice emerged from the venue!

It showed no respect for Stark Industries whatsoever.

"Excuse me, Mr. Stark!"

The blonde female reporter in the front row forcefully interrupted Tony's speech.

"Do you really expect us to believe that was a bodyguard in an Iron Suit, who just happened to show up in time?"

Tony frowned at the female reporter, remaining silent.

The female reporter unwisely pressed on: "And that punch with at least dozens of tons of force, from that human?"

"Or perhaps a mutant?! As far as I know, he seems to be someone you brought back from the cave where you were stranded..."

"How do you explain whether he is..."

Tony waved his hand, directly cutting off the female reporter's question: "I know you're very confused, but please don't question the government's inquiries and make wild accusations!"

"And Lin, he's my friend, and he's not a mutant as you speculate!"

"But I don't think I need to explain my friends to you, do I?" Tony's attitude was very firm.

"Regarding your question, I have no comment!" Tony unceremoniously pointed his finger into the air at the female reporter, signaling her to watch her words.

Tony had always been a strong-willed person; he wasn't afraid of reporters digging up dirt or writing nonsense.

Without evidence, they wouldn't dare, even with several times their courage; Stark Industries was not to be trifled with!

At this moment, Tony, as the helmsman of Stark Industries, had his full aura unleashed, momentarily leaving the female reporter speechless.

The female reporter closed her mouth, and Tony twirled the microphone, continuing his fabrication.

He didn't notice that Lin Feng was in the audience, wearing sunglasses and smiling, hiding behind a group of reporters, watching Tony Stark argue with the female reporter.

On stage, seeing Tony's story getting increasingly outlandish, Rhode could only reluctantly lean over and whisper: "Read the script, Tony!"

"OK! OK!" Tony nodded in response, reluctantly picking up the draft.

"Regarding last night's events, the truth is..."

Reading up to this point, Tony paused, his gaze sweeping across the room.

Everyone was waiting for Tony's "truth," though it was likely another set of evasions.

He looked at the script again, took a deep breath, and then uttered the words that surprised everyone: "I AM IRON MAN!"

"Woah!" A clamor instantly filled the venue; reporters exclaimed, stood up, and squeezed together, raising their microphones high and shouting questions, while flashbulbs flashed incessantly!

The entire venue descended into chaos.

What huge news! Tony Stark admitting he was Iron Man meant some people were going to have a headache!

The entire press conference reached its climax with that one sentence; it was clear that today's news would undoubtedly be front-page headlines!

After witnessing the iconic scene, Lin Feng took advantage of the chaos to leave.

There was nothing more to see; he wanted to wander outside and wait for Tony Stark, as he still had something to discuss with Tony about the young reporter.

Meanwhile, Coulson searched the venue for a long time but didn't realize Lin Feng was right under his nose.

Coupled with Tony's declaration of "I am Iron Man," the entire venue erupted into chaos, disrupting Coulson's plan.

Helpless, he could only report to Nick Fury, receiving instructions to temporarily withdraw; Fury himself would meet Tony that evening.

Coulson had no choice but to lead his team away.

But what he didn't expect was that everything he did did not escape Lin Feng's eyes.

Even more absurdly, he had brushed past Lin Feng several times without noticing him... Watching Coulson retreat, Lin Feng withdrew his gaze, touching the ring he had exchanged from the system store that morning, and couldn't help but give it a thumbs up.

Plain Black Ring: Reduces the wearer's presence; more powerful than Superman's glasses! Wear it, and even your own dad won't recognize you!

Additional Skill: Can become completely invisible for 10 minutes every 24 hours (true invisibility, invisible to the naked eye, can evade heat sources, detectors, and all other detection equipment).

It cost a whopping 300,000 Reputation Points! Lin Feng's Reputation Points were now only around two million, but it was worth it.

Lin Feng had already shown his true face; without a disguise, how could he go out on the street in the future? Wouldn't he be followed by a bunch of reporters?

Moreover, the additional skill alone was worth 300,000 Reputation Points, right? 10 minutes of invisibility!

Don't underestimate those 10 minutes; that was true invisibility. Lin Feng remembered that in the original work, Superman didn't have this ability.

This ability would bring Lin Feng immense convenience, no matter what he did.

And it was this ring that reduced Lin Feng's presence to an alarming degree, making Coulson see Lin Feng as if he were air, involuntarily ignoring him.

If the skills couldn't stack, Lin Feng would have loved to buy ten of them and wear them on all his fingers, becoming invisible for 100 minutes every day!

He wandered around until evening, when Tony finally finished dealing with reporters and a group of industry bigwigs.

However, no one managed to extract any truly useful information; Tony had become instinctively adept at handling them.

If he didn't want to say something, it was very difficult to get it out of him!

The only information reporters got was that Tony Stark was Iron Man.

And the one who punched the giant mech flying was Tony Stark's friend, Lin Feng.

Finally, after seeing off the last batch of reporters, Tony, hearing that Lin Feng had something to discuss, invited him to dinner at his villa.

The two drove together to Tony's beachfront villa.

In the car, Lin Feng took out the photos the young reporter had taken and briefly explained the whole story.

Tony said these were minor issues and he would handle them.

There was no need to even put on the Iron Man suit and fly around; he could just send his subordinates to take care of it.

Lin Feng also nodded in agreement with this method; the members of the Gray Street could not be completely eradicated.

This also involved a large amount of gray-area transactions.

Even if Lin Feng were to unleash a heat ray, it wouldn't eliminate all the rats.

In the adult world, people often choose the method with the least loss.

There were many rules involved; just maintaining balance was enough.

The young reporter's life was saved during the casual conversation between the two big shots...
