Davina's POV
I stared, unable to believe what I was seeing. Irvin looked completely transformed. The brutal lighting of the underground ring carved out every sharp angle of his face, every defined muscle across his chest. His self-assurance poured off him like heat, and for a heartbeat, I couldn't draw breath.
My face burned as my eyes traced his bare torso. No matter how hard I tried to glance away, I couldn't tear my gaze from him.
Christ, I ached for him. I ached for those cocky grins, the way he moved like the world couldn't scratch him.
I ached for the way his eyes used to find mine, even if it lasted only seconds.
Irvin stepped into the ring with that same casual indifference I'd grown to recognize. His lips curved into that trademark smirk, and he appeared so unruffled it made my blood simmer.
Then his gaze swept the crowd, moving slowly—until it found mine.
Everything froze.
