Strange said solemnly, "Sigh… the Mirror Dimension was opened by me. I meant to trap them inside it. But I didn't expect Kaecilius, after drawing power from the Dark Dimension, to become this strong — he's actually taken control of the Mirror Dimension itself."
Mordo frowned. "Regretting it now won't help. Let's change locations first."
As he spoke, he stretched out both hands — one held upright and steady, the other drawing a circle through the air.
Zzzzz!
A glowing ring of light suddenly appeared before them. Inside the ring shimmered the image of another place entirely.
"This…" Peter hesitated for a second, his steps faltering.
"It's a portal," Mordo explained. "I opened it. Go straight through."
"Got it," Peter replied, relieved. He picked up speed and charged right in.
In an instant, the three of them emerged onto a bridge.
Peter recognized it immediately — the Brooklyn Bridge, linking Manhattan and Brooklyn. They'd just jumped over four kilometers in a blink!
No wonder it was called a portal.
It was amazing!
Peter's eyes sparkled with excitement.
He was already wondering whether he could somehow learn this kind of magic himself.
Then he'd be… what?The Sorcerer Spider-Man?Spider Mage?The Amazing Wizard-Spider?
Hmm… choosing the name was the hardest part.
In his mind's eye, he pictured himself in his red-and-blue suit, a mystical cloak like Strange's billowing behind him, one hand shooting webs, the other spinning portals.
Whoa. That'd be so cool.
But before he could finish daydreaming, the bridge beneath them — and even the river below — suddenly split in half, as if sliced by a massive invisible blade. The calm waters turned into roaring waterfalls, and a tidal wave surged toward them.
Strange and Mordo quickly cast spells to block the assault, while Peter carried them both, sprinting at full speed.
Honestly? It almost felt like he was a mobile turret.
Was this what gamers called casting on the move — a literal movement buff?
Once they figured this out, the three worked together even more smoothly.
Mordo focused solely on opening portals, jumping them from one location to another, constantly shifting ground.
Peter dodged and maneuvered through the chaos with his spider-sense and agility, avoiding every collapsing structure or incoming attack no matter how the world twisted.
And Strange — Strange kept experimenting, testing one spell after another, trying to find something that could counter Kaecilius's power.
The chase went on for a long time, one side fleeing, the other pursuing.
Then, after stepping through another portal, the three suddenly found themselves in an even stranger mirrored world.
Everything beneath them split and replicated, layer upon layer, as if they were inside an endless corridor made entirely of mirrors.
"Multiple reflections," Mordo muttered gravely. "Kaecilius's control over the Mirror Dimension is growing stronger and stronger!"
Strange shook his head bitterly. "There's nothing I can do. The Dark Dimension's power is beyond imagination. I've tried everything I know — none of it works against him."
"Damn it," Mordo clenched his fists. "Then we don't have a single chance of winning?"
"Not necessarily," Strange said. "If we can stall for time — if the Ancient One arrives — victory will be ours."
"The Ancient One?" Peter interrupted curiously.
"She's our master," Strange explained. "The most powerful sorcerer on Earth — she's protected the planet from mystical threats for countless ages."
"She sounds awesome," Peter said, his brows furrowed as he glanced around the distorted world. "But, uh… when exactly will she get here?"
Even as they spoke, the surroundings grew ever more chaotic — buildings, bridges, and objects fractured into mirrored shards, flying at them from every direction.
Each time something shattered, it instantly reformed elsewhere, attacking again — endless, relentless.
"I don't know," Strange admitted. "Depends on when she senses what's happening here."
Mordo drew another circle for a portal — but the ring flashed briefly and vanished.
He tried again, and again — all with the same result.
"Looks like Kaecilius has completely taken over the Mirror Dimension with the Dark Dimension's power," he said grimly. "We've got nowhere left to run."
"Then put us down," Strange said calmly. "We'll have to fight."
Peter set them down, his eyes scanning the mirrored surroundings thoughtfully.
"Hey… don't you guys think this looks kind of familiar?"
"Familiar how?" Strange asked.
Peter frowned, thinking, then casually flicked his wrists — thwip!thwip! — firing strands of webbing in all directions.
"What are you doing?" Strange asked, confused.
"I'm solving a math problem," Peter replied matter-of-factly.
Strange & Mordo: "...What?"
What the hell?
We're in the middle of a fight!
And you're doing math?!
Who does that?!
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Several portals opened around them — from which stepped a group of robed figures.
At their center stood a man in a yellow tunic, his eyes dark and sunken like a gamer who hadn't slept in days — Kaecilius.
Behind him came followers clad in red robes — the zealots Peter had heard about from Strange and Mordo earlier.
Some carried curved daggers, others short blades — every one of them radiating murderous intent.
With a sharp command from Kaecilius, they charged.
Strange and Mordo moved forward to meet them.
Kaecilius's main target was clearly Strange — the current guardian of the New York Sanctum.
Mordo was soon cut off, surrounded by several zealots.
Empowered by the Dark Dimension, Kaecilius's spells were devastating — far stronger than anything Strange could withstand.
Within a few exchanges, Strange was knocked to the ground, his defenses shattered.
Mordo, meanwhile, was barely surviving, forced into retreat after retreat, unable even to assist.
Just as Kaecilius raised a hand for the finishing blow—
Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!
Webs shot from every direction, sticking to Kaecilius's arms, legs, and torso — wrapping him tight like a fly caught in the center of a spider's web.
Strange blinked in surprise, brushing the dust from his robe, and turned to Peter.
Peter grinned. "You know what the most miraculous thing in the world is?"
"What?" Strange asked instinctively.
"Math."
