Chapter 39 - 39

Chapter 39: The Grand Play Begins

Even though Sherlock already knew that Odin was fine at the moment, he still put on a good show, comforting the heartbroken Thor until Thor finally recovered from the grief of his father's passing.

And just as Thor began to resolve to live well on Earth, planning to return to Asgard to mourn his father once he truly regained his divine power, Sherlock delivered another devastating blow.

According to Sherlock, the main reason he was waiting in this town was for his new car. Now that the car had arrived, Sherlock planned to spend the night making some potions and preparing for his next journey.

He instructed the others not to wait for him for lunch tomorrow, but to gather together in the evening. He would be leaving the town the day after tomorrow morning.

Thor, who had just emerged from the grief of losing his father, hadn't even had time to recover before he received the terrible news of Sherlock's departure, instantly acting like a dog about to be abandoned.

This sight gave Jane, Daisy Louise, and Sherlock goosebumps. Can you imagine Xu Jinjiang, with the body of Schwarzenegger, whimpering in front of you?

That's pretty much how Thor felt right now.

In any case, it took a lot of persuasion from Sherlock and the others to finally get Thor to accept the double blow of losing his beloved father and his friend's imminent departure.

Seeing that Thor had nothing else going on, the group finally split up. After all, besides Sherlock, who was a slacker, the others still had work to do in the afternoon.

As Sherlock leisurely strolled back to the hotel, he keenly noticed the appearance of figures in black suits in the inconspicuous corners of the town.

However, compared to himself, Sherlock found that these people's attention was more focused on Thor and Jane.

Without a doubt, it was likely S.H.I.E.L.D. who had found some evidence of Thor being an alien in Jane's documents, especially considering Nick Fury's style.

On Earth, he wished that nothing outside his control would ever appear. As for those from outside Earth, Nick Fury always harbored great malice.

Looking at it this way, could Sherlock consider Nick Fury a pure Z.Z.ist, discriminating against any non-Earth life forms? It seemed there was nothing wrong with thinking that.

Sherlock mused to himself as he returned to his hotel. After closing the room door, Sherlock's previously relaxed expression slowly began to turn serious.

He took out his wand and cast a Confundus Charm on his room, making it appear as if the person inside was always busy at the table.

Only then did Sherlock sit on the bed and begin to plan his next moves. Logically, since he hadn't used Reparifors to restore his beloved car, it was only natural that Odin couldn't say much about him tampering with the Destroyer Armor.

The only remaining question was what magic potion to use to create a useful side effect.

After much deliberation, Sherlock gritted his teeth and, using his limited gold, acquired a bottle of Felix Felicis, as Sherlock didn't believe his luck would always be so bad.

After all this was done, Sherlock leisurely turned on the TV, found a program he liked, and planned to go to bed early tonight to rest up for tomorrow's big battle.

Just as Sherlock had predicted, early the next morning, as Thor arrived at the pet store, ready to begin a new day of 'wooing,' the sky above the town suddenly began to cloud over.

In just a short while, the sky above the town became incredibly dark. The next second, a massive beam of light instantly struck a spot not far from the town.

The townspeople and S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't know what had happened, but Thor, a true Asgardian, saw it clearly: this was the Bifrost Bridge opening. Without a doubt, someone from Asgard had arrived nearby.

Thor was exceptionally excited and rushed out into the street. The next second, four incredibly familiar figures appeared in his sight: three men and one woman, who were Thor's good friends, or rather, drinking buddies, from Asgard.

Thor was overjoyed at their arrival. This was one of the few things that had made him happy amidst the recent string of misfortunes.

Without a word, he took a leave from the store, insisting on taking his friends to experience the difference between Earth's beer and Asgard's liquor.

Of course, Thor wouldn't forget his friends on Earth. Jane, Daisy Louise, and Dr. were all called by Thor. If Sherlock hadn't repeatedly told him yesterday that he needed rest, Thor might have already led a large group to knock on Sherlock's door.

After several rounds of drinks at the tavern, the Asgard Four also brought Thor a shocking piece of news: King Odin was perfectly fine, merely in a deep sleep.

This news made Thor exceptionally emotional. After all, anyone who learned that their elderly father, whom they thought had passed away, was still alive and merely sleeping, would be overjoyed.

However, Thor immediately became confused as to why Loki would deceive him. As a simple-minded brute, Thor didn't understand Loki's intentions.

But for now, it was clear that his friends were more important. Nothing was more important than entertaining his friends well.

Just as the group was clinking glasses and having a grand time, the sky began to darken again. A beam of light, similar to the previous one, descended precisely on the same spot.

Two consecutive massive energy impacts had even caused some of the soil on the ground to turn black. And after the light beam dissipated, a tall, silver-white figure gradually appeared: it was the Destroyer Armor, which Sherlock had been longing for.

Such a large movement naturally didn't escape Sherlock's notice. When the first Bifrost Bridge light beam descended, Sherlock had already noticed it and immediately began to arrange his room according to his plan.

The Confundus Charm was changed to make it appear as if he was sleeping in bed. For extra caution, Sherlock even used Transfiguration to create a fake version of himself, lying on the bed with headphones on.

The dummy was indistinguishable from Sherlock, except that it couldn't speak or wake up. Even its breathing movements were perfectly replicated under Sherlock's magic.

After completing his disguise, Sherlock put on his equipment, once again went online with his wizard persona, and cast an Illusion Charm on himself. He looked towards the town entrance, seemingly anticipating something.

As the massive, silver-white figure, causing destruction everywhere, became clearer, the smile on Sherlock's lips grew wider. He took out the prepared magic potion and, looking at the approaching Destroyer Armor, softly mumbled,

"The show begins!"
