Chapter 36 - 36

Chapter 36 Sherlock's Revenge

With a crackle of spatial distortion, Sherlock's figure instantly vanished from the quiet, deserted alley.

However, the very next second, Sherlock reappeared in his original spot, a line of black on his forehead, without even changing his position.

The reason was simple: Sherlock didn't know Jane Foster's address, and naturally, he didn't know where Jane Foster had taken Thor.

Sherlock's expression was extremely uncomfortable; after all, experiencing a failed Phantom Shift felt like squeezing one's body into a narrow rubber tube and moving rapidly forward.

After finally managing to squeeze to the end of the tube, he discovered that the end was sealed off with an iron net.

Either he would be shredded by the wire mesh and appear in various places, or he would have no choice but to return the way he came.

Sherlock naturally couldn't choose to be fragmented, so he was left with only one path: returning to his original spot.

"Very well, my dear Thor, our grudge has deepened once more."

Sherlock said menacingly, drawing another tally mark for Thor in his mental notebook.

Don't ask why it wasn't just one stroke; the answer is Sherlock felt like it.

Although he didn't know where Thor had gone now, Sherlock knew where the guy would eventually appear.

After all, the current Thor couldn't resist the hammer's temptation, so without any hesitation, he performed another Phantom Shift and vanished from his spot.

When Sherlock reappeared, the scene before him had changed to the wreckage of his beloved car and the hammer that remained in its original spot, surrounded by bustling Agents.

Fortunately, Sherlock was currently in an invisible state, so not a single S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent discovered him.

Sherlock also found it inconvenient to continue standing amidst the busy Agents, so he cautiously moved to the periphery and began waiting for Thor's arrival.

However, Sherlock clearly miscalculated.

He had originally thought that Thor, being a brute, wouldn't be able to resist the hammer's temptation and would rush directly here after Sherlock revealed its location.

But clearly, Thor didn't do that.

Sherlock watched almost helplessly as the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents worked all afternoon, setting up a makeshift laboratory and enclosing the wreckage of his car and the Meow-Meow Hammer within it.

He then watched as the outdoor team, led by Crossbones, happily drove away after finishing everything, leaving behind only a few low-level Agents with pistols as security personnel.

Even the weather gradually changed from bright Sun to cloudy, and when the Sun set, a light drizzle began, with a tendency to gradually intensify.

Sherlock's initial desire to make Thor experience what it meant for a petty person to seek revenge from morning till night transformed into finding an opportunity to give Thor a big surprise.

Seeing the sky grow darker and the rain heavier, Sherlock could only continue to maintain a small mirror dimension as cover and rain protection, remaining firmly fixed in place.

Sherlock simply didn't believe Thor would give up his Meow-Meow Hammer so easily, and facts proved that Sherlock's guess was entirely correct.

When the rain reached its peak, Sherlock faintly heard the roar of a car engine in the distance.

Using magic, Sherlock could clearly see that the driver was a nervous Jane Foster, and in the passenger seat was Thor, whom Sherlock had been thinking about.

Lamenting that Thor had finally arrived, the smile on Sherlock's face became increasingly twisted.

Without any hesitation, he took out the duplicated Meow-Meow Hammer from his library and weighed it in his hand.

Feeling that the hammer's feel was perfect, Sherlock cast an Illusion Charm on his hammer before looking at the SUV nearby.

Thor, who had changed into a different set of clothes, was currently saying something to a nervous Jane Foster.

A short while later, Thor closed the car door, leaving Jane Foster alone inside, and strode towards the S.H.I.E.L.D. camp.

Sherlock naturally followed cautiously behind Thor, and personally watched as Thor, relying on the excellent physical prowess of an Asgardian, knocked out two guards before swaggering into the center of the laboratory.

This was where the wreckage of Sherlock's beloved car was, and where he saw his favorite Meow-Meow Hammer.

A thrilled Thor completely ignored the car wreckage near the hammer, and like a pervert, gently caressed every part of the Meow-Meow Hammer, constantly muttering about it being his closest comrade and such.

Listening to it gave Sherlock goosebumps; so, Asgardians play it pretty wild too, huh?

After Thor finally finished reminiscing about his past with the Meow-Meow Hammer, he confidently placed his hand on the hammer's handle, his face already showing the expression of someone about to reclaim his divine power.

But unfortunately, things didn't go as Thor had imagined.

No matter how hard he tried, or how much he pleaded, he still couldn't budge the Meow-Meow Hammer an inch, not even make it move slightly.

Suddenly, Thor seemed to realize something, and he painfully knelt on the ground, howling up at the sky.

That single "No" could be said to make listeners weep and inspire an emotionally rich 800-word essay.

But clearly, none of this affected Sherlock.

Seeing that Thor had already struck a pose, Sherlock no longer hesitated, aiming at Thor's pained face with a mischievous grin.

He almost swung his arm in a full circle, smashing the hammer into Thor's face.

The next second, Thor's painful wail abruptly ceased.

Under the immense emotional impact, coupled with Sherlock's critical hit, Thor directly collapsed to the ground, his face covered in blood.

With his revenge exacted, Sherlock casually tossed his counterfeit Meow-Meow Hammer into his library and vanished from the spot with a Phantom Shift.

As for whether Thor would suffer a concussion or anything else, Sherlock was not worried at all.

Firstly, Sherlock's fake Meow-Meow Hammer was merely a counterfeit with only its appearance; Sherlock even suspected it might be hollow, and its material was likely aluminum, just like his car frame.

After all, Sherlock didn't understand Uru metal, nor had he disassembled the hammer to understand its internal alchemical structure, so it was impossible for him to truly replicate a Meow-Meow Hammer.

Secondly, Sherlock hadn't forgotten that Thor had withstood the power of a planet when forging the stormbreaker.

A mere hammer to the face, Sherlock considered it a minor issue.
