Chapter 7 - Sailing and Sirens

Life at sea could be monotonous.

Fortunately for Leo, he had Nami and Makino for company.

Every day, he would bicker with Nami a little, delighting in making her jump up and down in frustration.

Or he would tease the more easily flustered Makino, leaving her blushing before walking away satisfied.

These small, daily interactions never failed to lift Leo's mood.

Of course, the most important activity was his in-depth "navigation technique" discussions with the two women.

Once Nami and Makino had become familiar with each other, Leo often initiated games of "three-player battles," ensuring he distributed his "attention" equally and fairly. On several occasions, they had become so engrossed in these "studies" that the ship had drifted off its intended course, costing them a significant amount of time.

"Keep it up, Leo. At this speed, we'll reach Syrup Village tomorrow. You'll get to meet the beautiful ship's doctor you've been dreaming about soon enough," Nami said lazily from under a sun umbrella, taking a sip of her juice.

After so many days together, Nami was intensely curious. How did Leo always know where to find these beautiful women? And the key thing was, he even knew their names! Whether it was Makino in Windmill Village or Kaya in Syrup Village, it was always the same.

When she asked him about it, Leo's answer was utterly ridiculous.

A natural perception for beauties?!

One that worked regardless of distance?!

She'd be a fool to believe that!

Seeing that Leo was deliberately being evasive, Nami had no choice but to let the matter drop for now.

Makino emerged from the cabin with a towel and gently wiped the sweat from Leo's brow.

"Now this is why my Makino is so considerate," Leo said, his eyes fixed on the sea ahead. He rewarded her with a kiss on the cheek.

A blush quickly spread across Makino's face.

"I'm going to prepare lunch. Is there anything you'd like?" she asked softly.

"Anything you make, I'll love eating," Leo responded with complete seriousness.

Makino's face turned an even deeper shade of red. Why did such a straightforward question feel like they were flirting?

"And you, Nami?"

"I'm fine with anything," Nami replied, waving a hand dismissively.

Makino nodded and turned to walk toward the kitchen.

Once Makino was gone, Leo focused his attention back on piloting the ship.

Besides flirting with Nami and Makino, Leo had also spent much of the voyage testing his newly acquired Instant Transmission skill.

When they passed some deserted islands, Leo would temporarily let Nami take the wheel while he tested his ability.

The moment the thought formed, he would already be standing on the island he'd perceived. It was on a completely different level than techniques like Soru.

Not only that, but Leo was surprised to discover that within a certain weight limit, he could even take people with him. Taking two women along was no problem at all, though something as large as a pirate ship was still beyond his capability.

He also left a spatial coordinate on one of the islands they passed. After sailing a great distance away, he was able to use the coordinate to instantly return to the island. After multiple experiments, Leo concluded he had officially become the fastest man in the world. His speed was now as fast as his thoughts. Paired with the Heal-Heal Fruit, his ability to survive was practically unmatched!

Fueled by anticipation for the future, Leo pushed the ship to go a little faster.

...

...

Syrup Village was located in a relatively remote part of the East Blue. Combined with the fact that the nearby waters held nothing particularly valuable, it was rarely troubled by pirates.

On this day, as the first rays of morning light crept over the horizon...

"Looks like another beautiful day~" Usopp, dressed in his brown overalls with his signature long nose, stretched comfortably.

"Which pirate gang should it be today?!" he wondered, before quickly settling on an idea.

Soon after, the familiar, grating voice that all the villagers knew echoed through the entire village.

"IT'S TERRIBLE! The Silver Fang Pirates are attacking! This time it's for real!!"

"Everyone, get up! They're really here!!!"

"If you don't run now, it'll be too late!!"

The voice was incredibly penetrating, traveling from one end of the village to the other, reaching every household.

"That damn brat, can't he give it a rest for just one day?!"

"Seriously! Does he have to yell it every single day? Isn't he bored?!"

"Usopp, I'll silver your granny's leg!!"

The villagers, jolted from their sleep, cursed under their breaths. But reluctant to leave their warm beds, they could only grit their teeth in anger and bury their heads deeper under their covers. Only the few households closest to Usopp opened their doors to... "greet" him. The things they said were... very colorful. A true symphony of profanity.

After a good ten minutes of mutual shouting, both sides finally quieted down.

Outside, Usopp laughed triumphantly. But a moment later, his smile faded as he looked out at the distant sea, a wave of melancholy washing over him.

He wished real pirates would come. Then he would definitely save the villagers from certain doom, and everyone in the village would hail him as a great hero.

As he lost himself in this daydream, Usopp's gaze unconsciously swept over the ocean... and then he froze.

He clearly saw a small ship sailing directly toward Syrup Village.

"A pirate ship?!" Usopp's eyes lit up.

Using his superior long-range vision, he could make out a man and two women on the deck, talking and laughing, their postures intimate. There was no one else on board.

Seeing this, Usopp's face fell in disappointment. The ship looked like a pirate ship, but with a crew like that, it didn't seem like a real pirate crew at all.

Still, Usopp walked down to the shore, ready to greet them. Yes, he was just that helpful. It absolutely wasn't because he wanted to brag in front of strangers to make them admire him.

As the distance closed, Leo, standing at the bow, naturally spotted Usopp on the shore.

The sniper of the future Straw Hat crew.

A saying circulated in the world of One Piece: "Fair weather: Luffy. Stormy weather: Zoro. Hopeless situations: Usopp." It was coined for the boy standing before him.

But Leo had no interest in him.

After mooring the ship at the dock, Leo led Nami and Makino ashore, setting foot on the small island.
