Chapter 3 - The Fruit of Temptation

After reading the description of the Heal-Heal Fruit, Leo felt a genuine appreciation for the system. It was incredibly thoughtful. It allowed him to grow stronger while also providing him a way to offer genuine care to the beautiful women of this world. It was the best of both worlds.

The system was absolutely the GOAT.

Every single note resonated deeply with him.

Cure all diseases? Regenerate lost limbs? Remove negative status effects?

The first person who sprang to Leo's mind was Kaya from Syrup Village.

A wealthy young lady, but frail and sickly since childhood, suffering constant pain and living a life of melancholy.

An image of Kaya formed in his mind: a kind, lovely young woman. Her face, due to her illness, lacked the healthy glow of a normal person. Leo didn't know the exact severity of her condition, but he was confident that any incurable disease would be no match for the power of the Heal-Heal Fruit, manifested from the essence of the Panacea Beast.

Furthermore, Kaya's dream was to become a doctor who could save lives. No one was more suited for the Heal-Heal Fruit than her.

Most importantly, even if Kaya ate the fruit, Leo would still share its abilities.

A true win-win. Sweet.

Is this the happiness of a player with cheats enabled? Leo felt almost dizzy.

In just one day, he had experienced the highest highs and lowest lows.

University graduate → Dreaming of acquiring a superpower → Sent flying by a dump truck → Isekai'd into the One Piece world as a weakling → System awakening, beginner's gift pack, instantly boosting him to Rear Admiral-level strength → Conquering Nami, obtaining the Heal-Heal Fruit → ?!

It was probably more exciting than most people's entire lifetimes.

Leo extended his right hand. A bizarre-looking fruit, entirely green in color, materialized in his palm. It was very fitting for the Panacea Beast; even the color was manifested. After a quick glance, Leo stored the Heal-Heal Fruit back into the system warehouse. A Devil Fruit's power only revealed itself upon consumption; just looking at it told you nothing.

That night, Nami slept deeply.

It wasn't that she trusted Leo, but she was genuinely exhausted. It was her first time in that particular role, a grueling four-hour labor session, experimenting with various methods and techniques. The moment it was over and the final task was complete, fatigue had washed over her like a tidal wave. Even speaking felt like a luxury.

Leo didn't disturb Nami. He also wasn't worried about her trying to sneak away. Not only did he have Observation Haki, making escape impossible, but Nami would also never easily abandon that ten million Berries worth of treasure.

And so, the night passed without incident.

...

The next day, Leo woke up early. He tidied up the larger of the two pirate ships, washing the bloodstains from the deck. As for the pirate corpses, they had become fish food the night before. Fortunately, the ship's storage held plenty of supplies. After cleaning up, Leo used the available ingredients to make breakfast.

At the table, Nami walked over with a peculiar gait, rubbing her tousled hair.

"Morning, Nami," Leo said, taking a sip of milk and smiling.

He was met with a deeply resentful glare from Nami.

Morning? The sun is already high in the sky! If she hadn't been worked so hard yesterday, would she have slept this late? In the time she'd spent sleeping, she could have stolen hundreds of thousands of Berries.

Perhaps because of their... collaboration... the previous day, Nami acted familiar, sitting down opposite Leo without ceremony and digging into the breakfast without any pretense of manners.

"I gave you the most precious thing I have. Shouldn't you give me back that gold and jewelry now?" Nami mumbled through a mouthful of food.

"If you're worried about Arlong, you don't need to be," Leo responded casually. "You're the navigator of the Leo Pirates now. Your problems are my problems. I can help you get rid of him."

Nami's movements stopped dead. Her hand froze mid-air, her wide eyes filled with utter disbelief. He had seen right through her, pinpointing her deepest secret. For a moment, she was at a complete loss.

But soon, a look of self-mockery crossed her face, followed by frustration. "You don't understand. They're fish-men. Their natural strength is ten times that of a human. Arlong is even stronger than a regular fish-man, and he has many fish-man comrades. You're no match for him. If we oppose them, we'll… we'll end up dead."

For years, Arlong had been a nightmare haunting Nami's heart. People had resisted before; she had held onto hope. But what was the result? They died by Arlong's hand. Gradually, subconsciously, Nami had accepted Arlong as an invincible entity. Even if Arlong and Kaido stood before her and she had to choose one to fight, unless Kaido slapped Arlong to death instantly, Nami would still choose Arlong. The fear was that deeply ingrained.

Seeing Nami's despondent state, Leo could only shake his head helplessly. After eight years, the image of Arlong's invincibility was carved deeply into her heart. Nothing he said now would convince her. He would have to go to Cocoyasi Village and chop Arlong into seafood right in front of her. Only then would he truly resolve the knot in her heart.

But for now, he had more important things to do.

"After breakfast, we're heading to the Goa Kingdom," Leo said, not wanting to dwell on it and changing the subject.

"Why are you going there? Do you know someone?" Nami asked, puzzled.

"To recruit crew members, of course," Leo explained patiently. "You're the first crew member of the Leo Pirates. There will be a second, a third. There's so much work on a ship; I can't do it all. If you hadn't been so tired yesterday, you should have made this breakfast. Understood?"

Nami: "...."

She bit her lower lip, glaring at Leo furiously.

This utter bastard!

Ignoring Nami's angry stare, Leo focused on his breakfast.

The reason for going to the Goa Kingdom was, of course, for Makino.

Since he had awakened a system for conquering beauties, he couldn't leave out a single one from the storyline.
