Chapter 22 - Chapter 22. Come on

Chapter 22 — Come On (Storms, Goodbyes & New Paths)

Ted Mosby believed you could make destiny with enough candles and rain dances.

Barney Stinson believed destiny was just marketing for poor decision-making.

And Ivar Scherbatsky? He believed storms didn't change fate — they revealed it.

---

Ted's "Plan"

At MacLaren's, Ted slapped down blueprints for his insane "win Robin back" strategy.

"Dinner. Music. Lights strung everywhere. And then… the rain dance. She can't resist the romance."

Barney snorted. "Romance? You're about to do a pagan fertility jig on a rooftop."

Robin muttered, "Wow. I'm flattered."

Ivar leaned forward, voice cool. "Desperation isn't romance, Ted. It's camouflage. She'll see through it."

Ted ignored him. "No, this is destiny. You'll see."

Yvonne whispered to Ivar, smirking: "Does he always audition for Greek tragedy roles in real life?"

"Constantly," Ivar replied.

Lily's Secret

Meanwhile, Marshall bubbled about honeymoon plans, Lily smiled too tightly, and Ivar watched her carefully.

"You're leaving," he said quietly when Marshall stepped away.

Her eyes widened. "Ivar—"

"I told you before. Honesty hurts less than betrayal."

Tears threatened. "I love him, but I need this. I need to know who I am outside of him."

Ivar's gaze softened. "Then tell him before you disappear. Don't let him find out in the ashes."

---

The Rain Dance

That night, Ted dragged Robin onto a candlelit rooftop. He danced like a man possessed, chanting for rain.

And against all odds, clouds gathered. Thunder cracked. Rain poured.

Robin gasped. "You actually made it rain."

Ted beamed. "See? Destiny!"

But as the rain fell, Robin's smile faltered. Because it wasn't destiny — it was pressure. And she hated pressure.

Across the city, Ivar watched the storm from his penthouse balcony, shaking his head. "Magic tricks don't keep people. Honesty does."

Megan Fox, standing beside him, raised a brow. "You're awfully philosophical for a guy who just spent three hours mocking his brother."

Ivar smirked. "I mock him because I care. I keep my distance because I know he'll never listen."

She grinned. "Good thing I do."

Lightning lit the sky between them — not desperation, not tricks, just connection.

Lily's Departure

Back at the apartment, Marshall prepared champagne, humming happily.

Lily stood in the doorway, suitcase in hand, tears streaming.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

Marshall turned, his smile breaking like glass.

And outside, the rain kept falling.

---

Closing Beat

Ted thought he'd won Robin.

Robin wasn't sure if she'd been won.

Marshall's world shattered.

Lily boarded a plane.

Barney toasted the storm, declaring it "legendary."

And Ivar? He closed the balcony door, Megan at his side, already moving forward.

Because while Ted danced for storms, Ivar built empires — and drew people in without having to beg the sky for permission.
