Chapter 1 - First day, Last day?

Lunette is a leading conglomerate organization, dappling in a range of industries, from malls to hotels. Mina, a young woman, has secured a job at the headquarters, and clutches her bag and runs across the lobby, slightly slipping on the marble floor. She's late, again! Maybe the iced coffee treat she stopped for wasn't worth it after all.

She heads over to the receptionist, who gives her her ID, then says politely, "Miss, the orientation started 10 minutes ago."

Mina panics, and hurriedly bows and runs towards the elevator. She rushes in just as the doors close, and bumps into a tall man. To her horror, her coffee has spilled on his hands and his suit's sleeve.

He looks at his sleeve and winces, "Are you blind?" He looks at her, with tightened jaw, "This is a custom made Midnight Blue Armani, and you ruined it."

The elevator turns silent. Mina freezes. Just as she tries to touch his sleeve, he grabs her wrist. "Don't. Just...don't." His voice is icy. He finally looks at her, with eyes just as icy, if not more, but with the faintest flicker of surprise at her frantic, wide eyed face, her simple clothes, and her worn out shoes.

Ding- the elevator reaches the top floor, and employees make way for him to leave first. Just before stepping out though, he throws a line over his shoulder, "If you can't even handle a cup of coffee, maybe this company is too much for you." He exits, leaving an embarrassed Mina in the elevator.

"What the hell, you're so mean. Its not like i did it on purpose!" Mina shouts. She pouts, "You didn't even let me help-" she pauses, then looks at him in the eye, "You have no idea how hard I've worked to be here, it hurts me when you say something like that over some spilled coffee..." But then adds "I'm sorry" sincerely. She then hurries off the elevator, looking down at her watch.

The lobby echoes with her voice, surprising the few employees lingering nearby. Some gasp, no one ever talks back to him. He stops mid-step, his polished shoes click against the marble as he turns his head slightly.

A faint smirk covers his lips, "Late, messy, noisy, and yet you've got a loud mouth for someone so clumsy." He adds, noticing her panic about the time.

He strides away towards his private office, with another employee following close by. The employees whisper among themselves, stealing glances at Mina as she scurries past. One junior staff member leans toward her with wide eyes.

"That was… the CEO. You...you just yelled at the CEO!"

Mina's eyes widen. "...the CEO?" She breaks out in sweats, "No way, no way, am I stupid?" She looks at her new coworker, then places her hand on his shoulder, with a ghostly face asks," Is my first day going to be my last?" The coworker chuckles, both amused and worried. Another staff emerges from the room, signaling the start of the orientation. "Crap, I messed up!" Mina says to herself, and enters the room.

The CEO enters his office, and tosses his suit jacket onto the chair. He stares at the coffee stain, but for some reason, Mina's pout flashes in his mind. He shakes it off, pulls out his phone and dials a number. "Send me a new jacket, Armani. Midnight Blue." He says, flatly. He pauses for a bit, then a low dry chuckle escapes him. He's almost annoyed at himself. "...And cancel tonight's dinner. I'm not in the mood."

On one of the rooms, the orientation for new hires is taking place. It buzzes with low chatter as new hires shuffle into their seats. Mina slides into a chair near the back, still flustered from what happened earlier. She tries to focus on the HR representative at the podium, but her mind keeps replaying the scene that took a while back. She thinks to herself, "Armani? Midnight blue? Ughhhhhh, who even talks like that? And why did I shout at him? Stupid, stupid, stupid!"

The HR representative talks about company policies and congratulatory messages, and Mina pretends to jot things down on her notebook, trying to keep her mind off of what happened. She's startled when he scoffs.

"Now, for your assignments. Each of you will be placed in a department for your first rotation. Some of you will be reporting directly to team leaders, and a select few… directly under executive management. The assignments are based on your professional evaluations and interview, and will change depending on your performance..." Mina straightens her back, curious. The HR rep calls a few names, and departments they're assigned to, when finally, "Kang Mina… congratulations. You'll be assisting the CEO's office."

Her heart drops, a couple employees look her way. Some recognize her, and murmur. The HR continues, completely oblivious to her horror, "Report to the CEO's office after this session. You're quite fortunate, it is a rare opportunity."

Mina sinks into her chair. The employee from the hallway leans over her, trying to suppress a laugh. "Good luck, Mina was it? Atleast your first day will be eventful."

Mina lets out a loooooooong sigh, and disassociates for a bit.
