"Alright! You can stay here, but only after I figure out the situation here." Lynd sensed Deltos's request and nodded in agreement. He then ignored the fleeing deformed people and turned to walk towards the empty Dragon Nest, to see if he could find anything useful inside.
However, after just a few steps, Lynd was immediately alerted by a faint sound behind him. He stopped, turned his head to look at a ruin behind him, and called out in High Valyrian, "Come out! I've found you, you're hiding behind a collapsed stone pillar."
As Lynd's voice carried, a two-headed woman stood up from behind the stone pillar, looking at Lynd nervously. In her eyes, there was not only timidity and panic, but more curiosity and excitement.
Lynd scrutinized the two-headed woman. He had to admit that if she didn't have two heads, she would absolutely be considered a top-tier beauty, and one with clear Valyrian lineage.
Lynd took off his helmet, tucked it under his arm, and then waved to the other party, signaling them to come over.
Ayla and Yara exchanged glances, took a deep breath in unison, steadied their chaotic emotions, and walked out of their hiding place towards Lynd.
The reason they didn't flee was entirely because they didn't sense any danger from Lynd or the giant dragon.
"Are you people who live here?" Lynd asked in Valyrian.
"No, my lord," Ayla, who was always responsible for communicating with outsiders, replied in the same High Valyrian, "We live in Matarris, and this is Oros."
"Is this Oros?" Lynd had also heard of Oros, the city closest to Valyria. He then asked, "Who were those people just now?"
"Those were the people of Oros, they were offering sacrifices to their god," Ayla said, pointing to the octopus barbecue that Deltos was currently devouring behind her.
"God?" Lynd turned to look at the deformed octopus. Honestly, it was absolutely the ugliest and most disgusting octopus he had ever seen. Dagon's sea monster was a peerless beauty compared to it. If Deltos hadn't told him that eating this mutated octopus would be beneficial, Lynd would never have let Deltos touch this disgusting thing.
"Excuse me, are you a Valyrian Dragonlords?" Ayla mustered her courage and asked curiously.
"No, the Valyrian Freehold has been destroyed for so many years, there are no more Valyrian Dragonlords. Besides," Lynd said, pointing to his hair and eyes, "do you think I have Valyrian blood with hair and eyes like these?"
Yara couldn't help but ask out of curiosity, "If you don't have Valyrian blood, why can you control a giant dragon?"
"Because I am Linde Terra, I can control giant dragons without any lineage," Lynd said with a matter-of-fact expression.
Ayla and Yara showed shocked expressions when they heard Lynd's name, because they had both heard the story of the god of calamity from the ascetic monks of the god of calamity, and knew that Linde Terra was the present incarnation of the god of calamity, a god walking on the earth.
When they clearly saw the family crest on Lynd's armor, they immediately knelt down before Lynd, performing the ritual of the god of calamity's followers, saluting Lynd and reciting the god of calamity's prayer: "My Lord, your glory shines upon the earth..."
Seeing their actions, Lynd paused, his gaze falling upon the holy emblem of the god of calamity that hung down to the ground. He recognized that this holy emblem should belong to an ascetic monk.
"Are you followers of the god of calamity?" Lynd waited for them to complete their full set of rituals, then asked them.
"Yes, My Lord," Ayla and Yara replied.
"What are your names?" Lynd asked again.
"I am Ayla."
"I am Yara."
The two answered almost simultaneously.
Lynd asked in confusion, "Matarris is quite far from here, how did you end up here?"
