Chapter 308 - Chapter 304 Ayla and Yara immediately told Lynd the reason for their presence

Ayla and Yara immediately told Lynd the reason for their presence. Hearing that they had risked such great danger to venture into the edge of Valyria's ruins, merely to gather enough money for their journey to Calamity City, he felt a strange sense of emotion.

Just as Lynd was telling the two that they no longer needed to save up for travel expenses, and that he would help them go to Calamity City, he suddenly sensed a magical aura from them. He then re-examined them with his special vision and discovered that their magical fluctuations were even stronger than Moroa's, making them the humans with the strongest magical fluctuations he had ever seen.

Under normal circumstances, this conjoined pair of sisters should have activated some special abilities.

Thinking of this, Lynd asked, "Do you possess any special abilities?"

Ayla and Yara were stunned. Their ability to sense danger was their biggest secret, one that even their parents didn't know, and Lynd's question clearly indicated that their ability had been exposed.

So, they exchanged glances, nodded in unison, and then Ayla, representing both of them, said, "We have the ability to perceive danger. This ability has been with us since we were very young."

Lynd thought for a moment and said, "In my territory, there is a place specifically for teaching magic called Tranquil Court. Talented individuals can learn magic there and become various types of mages."

Ayla and Yara were very intelligent and immediately understood Lynd's meaning, confirming, "You mean we have magical talent and can go to that place called Tranquil Court to learn magic?"

Lynd nodded and said, "Yes, you do have magical talent, and you are the most magically talented people I have ever met. With training at Tranquil Court, you should be able to become very powerful mages. Although I don't think I need to ask, I'll still ask as a matter of routine: are you willing to come to my territory with me?"

"Yes, we are willing," Ayla and Yara quickly nodded in agreement.

Lynd nodded, motioned for the sisters to follow him, and turned to walk towards the Dragon Nest.

The overall structure of this Dragon Nest, built by the Governor of Oros, was similar to the Dragon Nest built in Winterfell, only much larger, which suggested how enormous the dragons living there must have been, perhaps comparable to Glutton.

Some of the branch Dragon Nests inside the Dragon Nest had collapsed during the catastrophe, with only the main cave and a few smaller caves where young dragons resided remaining intact. These caves had all been used by the people of Oros as places to store sacrificial corpses. Because all the liquids from the bodies had been drained and some embalming treatments applied, there wasn't a strong smell of decay inside the caves.

It was precisely because of this that the contents of these caves had all been cleared out, leaving nothing of value.

Ayla and Yara were also somewhat disappointed by this situation, but they quickly recovered. After all, even though they hadn't found anything valuable on this trip, meeting Lynd was already their greatest gain.

Lynd looked around and was not too disappointed. He had already anticipated this situation, as so many people had passed through here, and quite a few people of Oros lived here, so it was unlikely that valuable items would still be left for others.

However, he also didn't believe that everything of value had been taken, because there were no signs of excavation in the caves that had been destroyed in the catastrophe. This meant that whatever those caves looked like back then, they still looked the same now.

Lynd thought for a moment, motioned for Ayla and Yara to step back a little, then walked to the entrance of one of the caves. He directly used psychokinesis on the stones blocking the entrance, quickly pulling them out from their stacked positions and moving them to other places to pile up.

Ayla and Yara, standing nearby, only saw Lynd standing at the cave entrance, and then the stacked stones were pulled out as if by an invisible giant hand and placed to the side, which was very magical. This also made them more eager and hopeful for the power of magic.

Although there was another collapse during the process of clearing the exit, the final result was good; everything went smoothly, and soon an entrance leading to other Dragon Nests was opened.

Lynd did not rush in, but waited outside for a while, while also creating a gentle breeze, continuously blowing air into the cave and simultaneously drawing out stale and turbid air. Only after the air inside the cave was completely clear did he walk in.

Inside the cave, Lynd saw the remains of a giant dragon. This dragon's body was much smaller than Glutton's; it should have been a newly adult giant dragon. Its cause of death was a stone pillar that had fallen from the cave ceiling, piercing its head. There were no Dragon Eggs around.

Lynd successively opened several other caves and checked the situation inside. It was similar to the previous cave; the giant dragons living inside had all been crushed by falling stones. The catastrophe came too suddenly; these giant dragons didn't even have a chance to escape.

"My Lord, perhaps the Dragon Eggs were taken away as soon as they were laid, to be collectively hatched in Valyria," Ayla and Yara guessed when they saw Lynd emerge from the last cave empty-handed.

"Possibly." Lynd thought for a moment and nodded, though he didn't believe the Dragon Eggs had already been sent to Valyria. From the historical records of the Targaryen, it was known that the Valyrian Dragonlords families each hatched their own dragons. Except for a few Dragon Eggs given as dragon tax to Valyria, most Dragon Eggs were kept and given to their own people to hatch.

Lynd guessed that Dragon Eggs might be hidden within the Governor's mansion. So, he had Ayla and Yara stay with Deltos while he searched the mansion. He eventually found a secret room in the ruins of a house, where a Dragon Egg with red and black scales on its surface was stored. Moreover, this Dragon Egg was alive; when Lynd picked it up and examined it using the Lost Country Knight's method for nurturing Dragon Eggs, he could feel strong vitality emanating from it.

However, whether it was due to the unique environment of Oros or some other reason, the Lost Country Knight's method for nurturing Dragon Eggs failed here; the Dragon Egg simply would not absorb his Rune Power.

Lynd didn't think much of it, took out the Dragon Egg, returned to the Dragon Nest, and handed it to Ayla and Yara for safekeeping.

Perhaps it was just a misconception, but when Ayla and Yara took the Dragon Egg, he seemed to see a flash of light from it.
