Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Training in Progress

The Seafood Deluxe Ramen at the fat boss's place was truly delicious. At the very least, the flavor of the noodles in this shop won Yang Xiao over, and he decided he would come back to this shop next time.

After finishing the juice the fat boss had given him, Yang Xiao got up to pay the bill. This bowl of noodles cost 500 yen, equivalent to about 30 Chinese Yuan.

Eating ramen in this island nation was actually quite a luxury. 500 yen was considered cheap; in some places, a bowl of ramen could cost 1,000 yen, which was undoubtedly a luxury for Yang Xiao at the moment.

However, Yang Xiao could still afford ramen for 500 yen. Of course, compared to Chinese ramen, this price was indeed higher.

"Young man, take care! You're welcome to come again next time!" The fat boss waved to Yang Xiao, who smiled back and said he would definitely come again.

After eating the ramen, Yang Xiao felt warm inside. It was early April, the season when cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Cherry blossom petals could often be seen on the ground—a beautiful yet poignant sight.

Watching the cherry blossom petals falling from the sky, Yang Xiao's gaze grew somewhat distant. "Who knows, this world might change because of 'us'?"

This "us" referred to the other three transmigrators and himself. Perhaps the plot would also change because of the four of them, and then everything would change accordingly.

What Yang Xiao wanted to strive for was to improve his strength enough to surpass the other three without altering the plot developments related to the other transmigrators, thereby safeguarding his own patch of peace.

If the others were unreasonable and took an inch, then pushed their luck even further, Yang Xiao would never tolerate it. He was not a coward, nor was he someone willing to swallow his anger.

If you respect me, I'll respect you. If you push me, I'll push back harder!

"'Us'? Who do you mean by 'us'?"

A somewhat familiar voice sounded. Yang Xiao turned around and found that a person who had almost been a fantasy, an unrealistic figure, was standing before him at this moment.

Momo Yaoyorozu. This class belle of U.A. High School's Class A. It was said that Fumikage Tokoyami was also quite good-looking and could give Momo a run for her money.

What puzzled Yang Xiao greatly was why Momo Yaoyorozu was here and even talking to him?

You know, Momo Yaoyorozu could be a bit aloof at times and basically wouldn't talk to strangers. At least right now, they were strangers. Although Yang Xiao was good-looking, he didn't think he was attractive enough to catch Momo's attention.

"It's nothing... Where are you headed?" Yang Xiao smiled slightly, showing a row of white teeth.

Seeing that Yang Xiao wasn't willing to talk, Momo lost interest. She was just passing by, saw Yang Xiao looking at the sky and talking to himself, and found what he said interesting, so she asked. But since he didn't want to elaborate, she let it be.

Seeing Momo simply smile and leave, Yang Xiao wasn't upset. Instead, he was quite intrigued to have met a future classmate from the Hero Course's Class A.

He didn't know what kind of story would unfold between him and his Class A classmates, but what he needed to do now was to raise his Quirk level. Otherwise, he might not even pass the entrance exam.

Only the truly outstanding could enter the Hero Course's Class A. Yang Xiao stretched and walked across the street. He would take a shower and get a good night's sleep tonight, then head to Takoba Municipal Beach Park tomorrow to train his Quirk.

The next morning, Yang Xiao had finished breakfast and set off before the sun rose. His destination was the beach park.

Some coastal areas of the beach park had been piled high with garbage for years. A lot of trash was washed ashore by the currents, and there was also much illegal dumping. Local residents would never come to such a place.

Therefore, training his Quirk here would not attract attention, unless someone was deliberately spying.

When Yang Xiao arrived at the beach park, the sun was rising from the sea horizon. A golden orb was particularly dazzling, draping the earth in a layer of warm clothing.

Bathing in the sunlight, Yang Xiao began his physical training. His physique was just average among ordinary people. He could do over 30 push-ups in one go, 40 squats were no problem, and he could manage at most 6 standard pull-ups. His long-distance running endurance was barely passable.

So, he first needed to train his endurance, physical strength, and flexibility. Only when these three aspects reached a certain level could he begin training his Quirk.

Midoriya Izuku was the same at the beginning. His physique was at the bottom among his peers. The One For All that All Might wanted to teach him required a strong body to withstand it. Midoriya Izuku's body wasn't up to standard at all, so his starting point was similar to Yang Xiao's.

The only difference was that Yang Xiao's physical fitness was slightly better than Midoriya Izuku's in all aspects, but only by a little.

"1... 2... 3..." Yang Xiao counted the push-ups while sweating and gritting his teeth. What he needed was strength, not muscle mass.

If he wanted to build muscle, that would require a different training method—calculated in sets, like 12 push-ups per set, for a total of five sets, with one to two minutes of rest in between. This kind of reasonable training is more reliable for muscle growth.

But if the goal is simply to increase strength, then undoubtedly, going to failure in one go is the way to quickly build strength. The same applies to pull-ups and squats.

Yang Xiao did 35 push-ups in one breath and then lay on the beach, gasping for air. This was his limit for today. Yes, today's limit was 35.

After a short rest, he started on squats and pull-ups. There was no pull-up bar at the beach park, but there were many iron poles and frames among the nearby garbage piles. Yang Xiao used these things for his exercises.

Half a month later, Yang Xiao could do 70 push-ups in one go. This was without the Holy Light Quirk enhancement. With the Holy Light Quirk, doing 140 in one breath was no problem. Holy Light was a kind of energy that could empower the body.

Yang Xiao could do 120 squats in one go, but pull-ups were more difficult. So far, he could only manage 12 standard ones.

On that day, the Sludge Villain incident was reported in the news. What relieved Yang Xiao was that the incident's plot direction hadn't changed because of the four transmigrators. Katsuki Bakugo was controlled by the Sludge Villain and nearly assimilated. Izuku Midoriya bravely rushed out to save Bakugo but was stopped.

In the end, it was All Might who rescued Bakugo. As for the Sludge Villain, he was brought to justice.

Everything was proceeding according to the original story. Yang Xiao felt no urge to go to the scene of the Sludge Villain incident. His current strength was still that of a rookie. Going there would only make him a burden. He also didn't want to attract attention. If the other three transmigrators learned of his whereabouts, it would definitely not be a good thing.

He must keep a low profile while he is weak. Secretly accumulating strength is the wise choice. He didn't need to be an outstanding figure, at least not for now.

After the Sludge Villain incident, All Might's strength began a significant decline. Therefore, he met Izuku Midoriya at dusk. Moved by Midoriya, All Might agreed to teach him One For All.

Inheriting One For All was no easy task; it required a strong physique. All Might's hellish training for Midoriya began, and everything was falling into place.

Although Yang Xiao, All Might, and Midoriya were training in the same place, the three of them never met. The beach park was very large, with many garbage piles. Yang Xiao was simply training next to one of them.
